Chapter 97: Don't Disbelieve, After This Fight, the Family Will Go Bankrupt
Chapter 97: Don't Disbelieve, After This Fight, the Family Will Go Bankrupt
"The Restricted Section", Ivan explained briefly.
Aisha nodded, not asking any more questions, but instead thinking about how she could help him.
She originally thought Ivan was unable to cast a Spell because he didn't know how to focus his emotions, which was why he had asked her about the Patronus Charm. However, it was clear now that the situation was different.
Ivan had a good grasp of the Patronus Charm, but he was missing the ability to manifest a guardian.
This was the tricky part of practicing the Patronus Charm. Some people took months of practice to successfully manifest a guardian.
However, there were ways to learn it quickly, as long as there was enough external pressure to stimulate the process.
"Here's what I'll do. I'll have someone prepare the things you need to practice the Patronus Charm, but it will take a couple of days", Aisha said, a bit reluctantly, as it meant she would have to spend more Galleons.
Things to practice the Patronus Charm?
Could it be a Dementor?
Ivan guessed, but quickly thought it was unlikely. It wasn't easy to get a Dementor.
Most of them guarded Azkaban, and the rest roamed in groups in places of death and disease, making them hard to deal with, let alone capture one alive.
The most likely option was a Boggart, which could transform into the thing people feared the most.
Ivan's expression was a bit strange.
Could it be that Aisha thought he was most afraid of Dementors, which was why he was eager to learn the Patronus Charm?
Ivan opened his mouth to ask, but Aisha looked secretive, so she probably wouldn't tell him directly.
Fine, if it's a Boggart, then so be it.
Ivan thought that since he had practiced Occlumency, he might be able to fabricate a memory to make it transform into a Dementor, which might help a bit.
In the meantime, Ivan didn't idle around. Once he had his Wand, he resumed his daily magic practice.
During his free time, he pestered Aisha to teach him how to make Magic Items.
During their previous battle, Aisha's explosive combat power with the help of Magic Items had greatly impressed Ivan. If he could make and carry dozens of Magic Items, wouldn't he be invincible?
However, Aisha mercilessly burst his bubble.
If he really did that, the family would go bankrupt after one battle.
"So, you still use Magic Items during practice?" Ivan said, feeling helpless. He had seen Aisha secretly repair a damaged Badge in the workshop after the battle.
From the way Aisha looked pained, he guessed it would cost a lot of Galleons to repair it.
Ivan opened his mouth to complain further, but under Aisha's increasingly dangerous gaze, he wisely chose to keep quiet.
Aisha rummaged through the workshop and finally pulled out several thick books, which she threw at him.
Compared to the small-scale mischief he and the Weasley twins did at school, Aisha's teaching method was much more formal. She started by giving him several thick books to read.
"Detailed Guide to Basic Magical Materials, On the Conductivity of Metal Magic, Rune Arrangements: Little-Known Tips"
"In the end, it's still reading books", Ivan muttered to himself, looking at the stack of books on the table.
However, Ivan didn't have any aversion to it. At Hogwarts, he had always enjoyed spending time in the library.
After throwing the book to Ivan, Aisha spent most of her time in the Basement, repairing the magical items that had been used up.
Ivan successfully became the acting owner of the black magic shop, or perhaps the front desk salesperson. When he encountered problems he couldn't solve, he would ask Aisha to handle them.
He earned two Galleons as his weekly salary, which was considered pocket money.
So, except for practicing magic, Ivan would sit at the counter, flipping through books while overseeing the black magic shop.
For several days, Ivan finished reading two books but didn't see a single customer.
Ivan wasn't surprised. Selling black magic items, sometimes not seeing a customer for ten to fifteen days was normal. Making three to five deals a month would earn enough Galleons for them to survive.
Of course, it was just enough to survive. If business was really that bad, they would have to endure a tough period.
Ding dong
The doorbell, hanging on the door frame, rang without any wind. Ivan put down his book. This was a small magic spell set up by Aisha at the entrance, indicating that someone was coming in.
"Welcome to the magic shop. Is there anything you need?" Ivan asked politely.
"Little Ivan? I'm not here to buy anything."
A middle-aged male wizard walked in from outside, looking to be in his early forties. His sparse brown hair was neatly combed back, and he wore a loose black-gray wizard robe. His sleeves were of different lengths, and he seemed to have sprayed some fragrance-increasing potion, but Ivan could still smell the alcohol underneath.
Seeing the man, memories flooded Ivan's mind, and he finally had some understanding of the middle-aged male wizard.
Doctor
Former Deputy Director of St. Mungo's Hospital for Magical Maladies and Injuries!
Also his mother Aisha's most important friend and ally in Knockturn Alley!
No one knew his last name. In Ivan's memory, he was simply called Doctor.
However, what Ivan couldn't understand was why such a person would end up living in Knockturn Alley?
"Where's your mother? Why are you here today?" Doctor quickly looked around after entering, not seeing anyone, and then turned to Ivan, his eyes filled with affection. He even reached out his right hand to pat Ivan's head.
Ivan instinctively dodged, and even he was surprised at how skilled he was at it.
Searching his memory, Ivan realized he had done this many times before, with about a fifty percent success rate.
Doctor wasn't embarrassed by the failed head pat and calmly withdrew his hand. Ivan then spoke up.
"My mother is in the Basement, probably repairing magical items. What brings you here?"
"Just came to check on her", Doctor muttered, then walked inside familiarly.
Ivan was half-skeptical and then remembered his earlier question. He thought for a moment and asked.
"By the way, do you know why my mother has a conflict with Professor Dumbledore?"
Hearing Ivan mention Dumbledore, Doctor's face darkened. He hesitated for a moment before speaking.
"It's because ten"
