Chapter 97: Crafting and Creation
Chapter 97: Crafting and Creation
"The ninth art is still art, no doubt about it!"
Lin Sai proudly caressed her latest creation.
She immediately gathered a few more logs and placed them on her newly crafted crafting table, opening the corresponding crafting list...
With a swift motion, the list of craftable formulas appeared before Lin Sai, filling her screen.
Wooden swords, wooden blades, wooden robes, wooden pants, wooden shoes, wooden helmets, wooden tables, wooden railings, wooden walls...
Everything Lin Sai had thought of, and even things she hadn't considered, flooded her mind.
She paused briefly, stunned by the sudden influx of information, then shook her head vigorously to adapt to the dense data.
"So, what should I make first..."
With limited materials at hand, Lin Sai decided to start with simpler items.
She crafted torches, campfires, and wooden planks.
These three different items required minimal Essence consumption, allowing Lin Sai to maintain a balanced rate of synthesis and usage every five minutes!
"Next, it's time for weapons..."
Sitting by the newly lit campfire, Lin Sai gathered more wood and placed it on the workbench.
With the application of Essence, the logs instantly transformed into a wooden sword.
She swung it casually, testing its feel.
Although made of wood, the sword felt surprisingly comfortable in her hands.
Swinging it through the air produced a satisfying 'swish' sound, indicating its qualification as a weapon.
Lin Sai examined its attributes using her Merchant Skill.
[Weapon: Wooden Sword]
[A wooden-crafted sword with a fragile material but a sharp edge.]
[A basic wooden sword found everywhere, prone to wear and tear, and of no value.]
"Tsk..."
Lin Sai clicked her tongue in disappointment.
Although the wooden sword was simple to make and used readily available materials, it was still crafted with her precious Essence! The item description was utterly unflattering.
"Let's try something more complex now."
As night fell, Lin Sai began crafting various items on her workbench.
Within half an hour, the pine logs in her clearing were nearly depleted, replaced by a myriad of wooden creations, including furniture she had crafted for herself.
Through this experimentation, Lin Sai gained a clearer understanding of the rules governing her Synthesis Skill.
Simple items could be crafted directly through her Attribute Panel, while more complex ones required physical crafting on the workbench.
Additionally, for smelting ores, she needed to first create a forge by combining stones and campfires.
When working with metal items beyond woodworking, she required an anvil crafted from iron ore for subsequent synthesis.
Specific tools were necessary for handling specific items.
The skill's design was remarkably meticulous in these aspects.
Having grasped the skill's rules, Lin Sai muttered to herself, "Now, I can attempt something more challenging."
She rummaged through her inventory, which included items collected from hunted creatures, notes from her hunting journal, gifts from friends, and treasures acquired during adventures.
Among these materials, the top priorities were the Bat Claw Pendant and Ivy Wreath.
Even before crafting, Lin Sai knew from the item descriptions that they would serve as valuable resources.
[1 Bat Claw Pendant + 1 Wooden Log = Bat Staff]
[1 Ivy Wreath + 1 Vine + 1 Seed + 1 Flower = Treant Crown]
Lin Sai frowned.
She lacked sufficient bat claws for the first recipe and flowers for the second...
"Hmm?"
"Who said they had to be naturally grown flowers!"
Lin Sai clapped her hands, rushed to her garden, and transformed a seed into resources, then proceeded to plant them.
This time, she spared no Essence, using all available resources.
In less than a moment, several blue-purple flower buds appeared before her, each with five delicate star-shaped petals and a vibrant yellow center.
"I have to admit, potato flowers are quite beautiful."
Lin Sai nodded in appreciation, plucked three flowers, and immediately synthesized them.
[Headgear/Material: Treant Crown]
"Slightly enhances perception and constitution. Greatly increases Treant affinity when equipped. Can also be used as a material to craft other items."
"A headband only obtainable by friends of the Treants. Extremely expensive."
"It can be crafted?" Lin Sai's attention was immediately drawn to the crafting materials for the Treant Crown, rather than its attributes.
He tossed the new equipment onto the workbench.
"1 Treant Crown + 1 Fairy Footlet + 1 Thorn Wristband = Forest Brooch"
"What's a Fairy Footlet?"
"And what's a Thorn Wristband?!"
"I can see the crafting formula, but I don't have the materials to make it. This is so frustrating!"
Urgently, Lin Sai felt an unbearable itch inside, like a poor soul who had lost his wallet. He frantically circled the empty space near the wooden house, his agitation growing as the dusk deepened.
But as the night grew darker, Lin Sai's haste got the better of him. He slipped and fell right into the endless water pit he had dug earlier that afternoon.
Plop! The cold, clear water doused Lin Sai's fiery spirit.
He wiped the water from his face, but it mixed with the dirt, creating muddy water.
"So bitter... so dirty!" Lin Sai's face was filled with despair.
Fortunately, his constitution was strong enough to prevent him from catching a cold.
He decided to take off his clothes and clean himself up in the endless water pit.
During this process, he also pondered the materials he had and what else he could craft.
Most of the materials for items like the Ice Badger Claw required metal ores, which Lin Sai didn't have. He would need to gather those resources before he could continue experimenting. So, what else could he craft?
As Lin Sai climbed out of the endless water pit, an idea came to him.
He retrieved the hastily crafted Stibnite Spear and removed the pitch-black arrowhead.
Adding a wooden stick and the Frostwind Spar Feather he had hunted the night before, he placed the three items on the crafting table.
"1 Stibnite Arrowhead + 1 Wooden Stick + 1 Frostwind Spar Feather = Frostbite Stibnite Arrow"
Lin Sai immediately paid Essence to craft the item.
"Ammunition: Frostbite Stibnite Arrow. Hits the target, immediately disrupting and freezing Essence. Awakened beings below Phase Five cannot resist its power and will lose their ability to fight back for a short time."
"A special arrow crafted for Awakened beings. Quite valuable."
"Wow, that's powerful!" Lin Sai was amazed.
He remembered that the Stibnite Arrows he had before required hitting the weak points of Phase Five spiders in the Black Mountain World to be effective.
But with this new arrow, there was no need to aim for weak points! As long as it hit the enemy, and their Essence was below Phase Five, they would be threatened by the arrow's power.
Lin Sai's expression was filled with awe.
Now, he only had one more crafting material left.
He took out the Purpleleaf Vine Branch, the most valuable item in his possession. The corresponding crafting formulas automatically appeared.
"1 Purpleleaf Vine Branch + 2 High-grade Metals + 1 High-grade Gemstone = Purpleleaf Vine Voidblade/Voidsword"
"1 Purpleleaf Vine Branch + 1 High-grade Beast Sinew + 1 High-grade Grease = Purpleleaf Vine Lightning Bow"
"1 Purpleleaf Vine Branch + 1 High-grade Thread + 1 High-grade Metal + 1 Special Metal = Purpleleaf Vine Fishing Rod"
"Hmm, a sword and a bow with spatial attributes, and... a fishing rod?"
"I..." Lin Sai hesitated. He didn't have these hard-to-obtain materials.
However, before this, the Purpleleaf Vine Branch was the only material with a unique attribute.
In other words, even if he managed to gather these items in the future, he could only choose one of these four equipment pieces to craft.
"How am I supposed to choose?!" Lin Sai was filled with endless indecision.
With his mind in turmoil, Lin Sai returned to the house.
It was already late, and after harvesting and organizing the last batch of crops, he prepared for bed.
But the subsequent crafting experiments, and the visits from Joel and Ju, helped Lin Sai finalize his plans for the next day.
"Tomorrow, I'll take a break from farming."
"I'll visit Uncle Andre and see what's up."
