Chapter 969: You're the Best Friend!
Chapter 969: You're the Best Friend!
Looking at the young witches before him, Ivan's heart was filled with indescribable gratitude.
Luna had undoubtedly found a way to crack the Resurrection Stone: using Legilimency to seal away the memories that troubled her. This way, the desire to resurrect the person would not arise in her heart.
However, Ivan also understood that this was no easy task.
To deceive the Resurrection Stone, Luna would have to forget every single thing about her mother. These memories were undoubtedly the most cherished by the young witches, and the act of deliberately forgetting them must be incredibly painful...
"Thank you, thank you, Luna! You're the best friend!" Ivan stepped forward, his emotions overwhelming, and gave Luna a big hug.
Feeling that this was not enough to express his gratitude, Ivan thought for a moment, then released Luna and drew his wand, gazing out at the distant lake.
"Wind!" Ivan waved his wand and whispered.
As he spoke, a gentle breeze began to blow, carrying a surge of magic toward the grass by the lakeshore.
The tender green grass leaves quickly transformed and grew under the Magic Wind, and one by one, beautiful blue-purple flowers emerged from the soil, covering the lakeshore in a stunning sea of flowers...<|im_end|>
Tiny Lumos lights flickered among the flowers and, carried by the Magic Wind, slowly drifted into the air. Although the time was short and there was no towering Zongxian Tree or dancing Zongxian, Luna was completely immersed in the beauty of the scene.
Neither of them spoke, just silently taking in the magnificent flower sea for a long while. Finally, Luna broke free from the enchantment of the beautiful view.
"Thank you, it's truly beautiful!" Luna turned to Ivan, her eyes still filled with wonder.
"I should be the one thanking you." Ivan shook his head, smiling, and took off the Resurrection Stone hanging around his neck.
Luna reached out to take the diamond crystal, her curiosity evident. "Do you have someone you want to see?"
"Yes! The former Vice President of the North American Magic Congress—Farrell! I need to ask him some questions about Grindelwald." Ivan said solemnly.
The young witches nodded, silently repeating Farrell's name as she slowly rotated the Resurrection Stone three times.
However, to their surprise, nothing happened...
Could they have guessed wrong? Ivan felt a bit puzzled but quickly dismissed the thought, as the Resurrection Stone had not created the usual magic illusion to deceive them.
It was also possible that the information was insufficient; a name alone might not be enough to summon Farrell's soul.
With this in mind, Ivan grabbed Luna's other hand and, using the communication function of the Magic Mark, transmitted the memories and images of Farrell he had obtained from Cornell to Luna.
A moment later, the Resurrection Stone finally responded. It slowly lifted from Luna's hand, floating in the air, and a mysterious force radiated out from it in all directions.
Ivan felt himself being detached from the original space, leaving the lakeshore and the flower sea behind.
It was pitch black all around, and the silence was almost eerie. Ivan could only confirm Luna's presence by holding her hand.
Fortunately, a faint light soon appeared in front of them. Ivan quickly turned his gaze and realized that the light was emanating from a translucent figure.
This figure was none other than Farrell, the former Vice President of the North American Magic Congress!
"Where am I?" The old wizard, now in ghost form, opened his eyes with confusion, his mind a jumbled mess, unable to grasp his situation.
"Hello, Master Farrell", Ivan said with a slight smile. "We are Special Aurors sent by the International Confederation of Wizards. We brought you here to ask you some important questions."
"Special Aurors from the International Confederation? Just you two?" Farrell looked at Ivan and then at Luna, puzzled. To him, these two clearly looked like teenagers, possibly not even out of school yet. When did the standards for Special Aurors become so low?
"We managed to pull your soul temporarily from the Abyss of Death, isn't that proof enough? We possess a special magic that has led to our commission by the International Confederation of Wizards", Ivan explained, somewhat exasperated.
He had anticipated Farrell's skepticism about his age and had refrained from revealing his current position as President of the International Confederation of Wizards, but it seemed his efforts were in vain.
Hearing Ivan's words, Farrell's expression changed. He looked at his translucent body and realized he was dead, his physical form reduced to ashes by Grindelwald.
"Alright, what do you want to know?" Farrell sighed, accepting his fate and acknowledging Ivan and Luna's identities.
"Master Farrell, can you tell us what the Afterlife is like?" Luna asked curiously.
"The Afterlife..." Farrell's face showed confusion as he murmured to himself. "I don't know. My memories only go up to the moment of my death... the excruciating pain of being burned, as if my soul was collapsing, followed by eternal peace, like returning to the state of a newborn..."
"I see. But Father said that after death, people go to another fascinating world where they live happily ever after", Luna whispered softly.
Ivan interrupted, "Master Farrell, we need to know how Grindelwald regained his youth and whether he is creating Horcruxes."
While it was intriguing to hear a near-dead person describe the Afterlife, the current situation demanded more pressing answers.
"Ah, right, Horcruxes!" Farrell paused, then quickly recalled the scene before his death and spoke with urgency. "I saw Grindelwald kill himself and then resurrect! He brutally murdered a Muggle, placed the Horcrux in a large cauldron, and a Witch named Alison oversaw the resurrection ritual. The materials used were..."
"Father's Bone, Servant's Flesh, Enemy's Blood?" Ivan completed Farrell's unfinished sentence.
Farrell was somewhat surprised and gave Ivan a long, deep look. "Impressive. It seems you've uncovered a lot since my death."
