Chapter 968: I Already Have Everything I Want... It's Right Here!
"Sure, of course!"
Faced with Luna's invitation, Ivan didn't hesitate much and nodded.
Although the near-stagnant research on the Resurrection Stone had made his mood somewhat low over the past few days, he naturally wouldn't refuse the rare request from the young witch.
With Ivan's agreement, Luna happily led him away from Nottwood Manor, heading deeper into the woods.
The sun had already set, and the bright moon hung high in the sky. A faint moonlight penetrated the woods, casting a gentle glow on the forest path ahead.
It was then that Ivan noticed Luna's attire was different from usual. She wore a beautiful bright yellow robe, and the wreath of vines and flowers she often wore was tilted on her head. The combination of her fair, delicate profile almost made Ivan mistake her for a Muggle fairy.
They ran for what felt like an eternity, and Nottwood Manor had long disappeared from Ivan's sight. All around them was the dense forest, when suddenly, a "Whinny" sounded from ahead.
Instinctively, Ivan stepped in front of Luna, drawing his wand from his belt, but he soon relaxed his guard. A fallow deer emerged from the woods, clearly not an Animagus transformation.
"Hi, Tiney!" Luna walked forward happily, gently stroking the fallow deer's soft neck. The deer seemed equally delighted, nuzzling Luna's chest contentedly.
Watching this heartwarming scene, Ivan smiled and put his wand away.
After calming Tiney, Luna turned to Ivan, excitedly introducing him to her friend.
She had found this fallow deer six years ago in the woods. Back then, Tiney was a small fawn, separated from its mother and the herd for some unknown reason. This chance encounter had led to a close friendship between them.
Ivan listened quietly as the young witch shared her past adventures, and then, under Luna's guidance, he met the other animals in the woods—cute squirrels and a peculiar Transforming Lizard.
Luna had given each animal a lovely name and recounted their stories to Ivan, one by one.
They strolled slowly along the forest path, and by the time Luna finished her stories, a vast lake appeared before Ivan. This was their destination.
A gentle breeze occasionally blew, causing ripples to form on the clear lake surface. Luna and Ivan sat down on the grass by the lake, looking up at the starry sky. The distant mountains, shrouded in mist and darkness, seemed like reflections on the lake's surface.
The fallow deer named Tiney ran joyfully on the grass, eventually settling down beside them, nibbling on the tender grass.
"Isn't it beautiful?" Luna gazed at the lake, her voice ethereal and dreamy, echoing by the lakeside.
"Yes, it's very beautiful!" Ivan nodded in agreement, the scenic view and the cool breeze temporarily easing his recent frustrations.
"Whenever I was upset, Father would often bring me here to catch Crumple-Horned Snorkacks..." Luna reminisced.
Ivan chuckled softly. The last time Xenophilius cooked the Colorful Ball Fish Soup, he had realized that the ingredient was just a very ordinary freshwater fish. However, since Luna believed otherwise, he naturally didn't contradict her.
"Do you bring me here to catch another Crumple-Horned Snorkack?" Ivan asked curiously.
"Not this time, maybe next." Luna gently shook her head, her gaze drifting towards the distance. After a long moment, she asked, "Is there someone you want to bring back, Ivan?"
"Perhaps... or perhaps not", Ivan replied uncertainly.
He truly had no one in this world he wanted to resurrect. Although Orlando was his father, Ivan had no memories of him and thus no deep-seated desire to bring him back. As for Dumbledore, despite dying in their duel, subsequent information suggested that the old headmaster had willingly given up his chance to live, accepting death with grace.
After all, if Grindelwald could use a Horcrux to counteract the flesh-corroding Dark Magic, Dumbledore certainly could have found other methods but chose not to. Ivan respected Dumbledore's decision.
In contrast, he had a deeper longing for his parents from his previous life, always wanting to see them again, understand their current situation, and even harbored a faint hope that the Resurrection Stone could truly bring them back.
"The Resurrection Stone is highly deceptive. It brings to the surface the deepest fears and desires of one's heart. If you can't break free from it, you'll never harness its true power", Ivan said, somewhat troubled.
Luna was very curious about what Ivan's deepest fears and desires might be, but she didn't press further. She understood that if he could, Ivan would share with her. Since he hadn't mentioned it, it must be something he wasn't comfortable revealing.
"Can I try it?" Luna thought for a moment, then extended her hand, her eyes filled with anticipation.
Ivan hesitated, looking at the young witch before him. "But your mother..."
As soon as he spoke, Ivan realized his mistake but was still concerned that the young witch might be deceived by the Resurrection Stone. Although Xenophilius's wife appeared before them and Luna saw through the deception immediately, as long as there was a lingering hope in her heart, she couldn't break the spell.
Luna's reaction, however, was unexpected. When Ivan mentioned her mother, a blank expression crossed her face. She thought for a moment, then reached into her robe and pulled out a transparent glass bottle, filled with wisps of white mist.
Ivan glanced at the bottle, sensing something, and stared at Luna in surprise.
"I seem to have forgotten something important, but I've kept it safe..." The young witch held the bottle containing Memory Threads to her chest, turning her head to scan the calm lake surface, the glittering stars, and finally focusing on Ivan.
"Now I have everything I want... it's all here!" Luna's ethereal voice echoed in the quiet lakeside.
