Chapter 962: The Dark Angel
Chapter 962: The Dark Angel
Amidst the chaos, a golden light burst forth from the altar as the ritual sacrifice of light and darkness took place. A portal-like gateway to the world of chaos emerged, and a massive, heavy door slowly opened, unleashing a chaotic cyclone from the beginning of time.
The sword of the Opener sliced through the chaos, and the Chaos Warrior, clad in battle armor, held a long, gleaming sword in one hand and a shield in the other. His face was cold and determined, his eyes unwavering, and his gaze as sharp as a drawn blade.
"Chaos Warrior: The Opener's Messenger, Summon!"
[Chaos Warrior: The Opener's Messenger, Attack Power 3000]
Malik admired, "To summon the Silent Magician with an attack power of 4000 and the legendary swordsman in the first turn is truly impressive."
"After all, he bears the name of the King," Isis remarked.
The Abyss God's eyes flickered slightly as he glanced at the Silent Magician and then at the Chaos Warrior. "To control two fairies simultaneously is indeed remarkable for a human Duelist."
However, his tone was filled with arrogance, implying that while these two fairies were impressive, they were still not enough to challenge the avatar of his god.
As Yuxuan summoned the Chaos Warrior, his hand size decreased by one. The Silent Magician's attack power dropped by 500, but it still stood at an impressive 4000, equivalent to the power of an Obelisk.
"Battle," Yuxuan declared. "Chaos Warrior: The Opener's Messenger, attack 'Fallen Angel: Ishtarr'!"
The Chaos Warrior stepped forward, his sword shimmering with light, and swung it like a silver snake towards the Fallen Angel.
The Fallen Angel flapped its wings to counter, shooting out dense black feathers. Undeterred, the Chaos Warrior's sword flashed, and after a series of clangs, he slashed through the feathers, knocking them aside.
He then pierced through the feathered barrier, slicing the Fallen Angel's slender waist in half. It let out a painful cry, and its body exploded into a shower of black feathers.
[Abyss God, LP 4000 → LP 3500]
"Chaos Warrior: The Opener's Messenger, effect activated," Yuxuan continued. "When the Opener's Messenger destroys an opponent's monster in battle, it can attack once more during that turn.
Attack 'Fallen Angel: Sobek'!"
The Chaos Warrior shattered Ishtarr, but instead of retreating, it turned towards the adjacent monster zone without hesitation.
Sobek was in a defensive position, crouching on the ground with its red wings like two giant shields protecting its body. The Chaos Warrior thrust its sword, and the Fallen Angel countered with its feathers. However, the sword's light pierced through, and with an unstoppable force, it sliced through the red wings and impaled the dark, cylindrical body of Sobek, causing it to explode.
With a single sword strike, the Chaos Warrior had destroyed two Fallen Angels. It then returned to Yuxuan's side.
The Abyss God was now wide open, and Yuxuan's Silent Magician still possessed an attack power of 4000. This attack would be a decisive blow!
"Silent Magician, direct attack," Yuxuan declared. "Silent Magic Burst!"
Malik and his sister held their breath in unison.
Such strength! This Duel King was no less intimidating than Yugi had been in the past. In just one turn, he unleashed such a powerful and decisive attack. Malik couldn't help but think that this person, who claimed to have been inspired by his dueling, was also proficient in aggressive and explosive tactics.
Could it be that during their previous spar, he had intentionally played with Malik's mindset for amusement?
While this round of attacks was impressive, Malik and his sister couldn't help but feel that it might be a bit too optimistic to think that the opponent could be defeated so easily.
As expected, the Yeshen player declared, "I activate a Set card, the Continuous Trap, Demonic Chain!"
A green demonic chain shot out from the trap, instantly binding the Silent Magician, who was still gathering her power. Although she was a mage capable of casting spells from a distance, the moment she was bound, she felt her strength drain away, leaving her limbs weak and powerless. Her magic became difficult to manipulate, and she couldn't even conjure a small spark, let alone unleash a Silent Magic Burst attack.
"Demonic Chain seals a monster's attack and negates its effects." The Yeshen player smiled triumphantly.
"Unfortunately, it seems the little magician girl won't be of much use now," he added.
"Then, my turn ends," You Xuan declared, glancing at the Silent Magician bound by the Demonic Chain. He had chosen to seal the magician instead of the Chaos Warrior, which had a continuous attack effect. Although the Silent Magician had higher attack power, if the Demonic Chain had been used to seal the Chaos Warrior, the magician alone wouldn't have been able to defeat the opponent, and the opponent would still have a Fallen Angel on the field next turn.
The decision to seal the Silent Magician was likely made for two reasons. Firstly, if her effect was negated, her attack power would drop to its original 1000 points, making her an easy target. Secondly, it avoided the hassle of dealing with her magic sealing ability.
"My turn, I draw," the Yeshen player said, calmly summoning a monster.
"I summon Fallen Angel: Okobak!"
A short, child-like Fallen Angel appeared, with small wings that set it apart from the other Fallen Angels. This was a rare lower-level monster among the Fallen Angels.
[Fallen Angel: Okobak, Attack Power 700]
"Okobak's effect activates when this card is successfully summoned. I send a Fallen Angel card from my deck to the graveyard," the Yeshen player explained, searching through his deck and revealing a card.
"I send the trap card, Rebel Falling Angel, from my deck to the graveyard," he continued, showing two cards in his hand.
"I activate the effect of Fallen Angel: Andusia in my hand. I discard this card and another Fallen Angel card from my hand, and return a Fallen Angel card from the graveyard to my hand," he said, discarding the two Fallen Angels into the graveyard.
"I add the magic card, Fallen Angel's Sanctuary, from my graveyard to my hand!"
Malik's expression turned grim. "Can you recover Fallen Angel cards from the graveyard, not just monsters?"
Recovering monsters and recovering magic or trap cards were two different concepts. There were numerous ways to recover monsters in the Game King card pool, but methods to recover magic and trap cards were scarce in comparison.
"I activate the magic card, Fallen Angel's Sanctuary, again. It can revive Fallen Angels from the graveyard!" the Yeshen player exclaimed. "I revive Fallen Angel: Sobek, defeated last turn!"
The crimson wings opened once more, and a Fallen Angel with black cylindrical wings burst out of the graveyard's vortex, its feathers scattering in all directions.
[Fallen Angel: Sobek, Defense Power 2400]
"Of course, monsters revived by the Sanctuary can only be in Defense Position," the Yeshen player said, raising his voice. "But Sobek has an additional effect! When this card is Special Summoned from the graveyard, you can Special Summon another Angel-Type monster from your graveyard! I revive the other Fallen Angel I discarded earlier—
—Fallen Angel: Tescatlipoca!!!"
