Chapter 96: The Real World
Chapter 96: The Real World
Several days had passed, and time quickly approached the end of November.
Chen Chuan was supposed to take the monthly exams, but after obtaining the firearms license, there was no longer a need for it. Not only the monthly exams, but even the mid-term and final exams were no longer necessary for him.
After all, obtaining the firearms license was proof of his abilities, and his true skills had already surpassed those of his peers and upperclassmen in the academy. There was no point in measuring him with ordinary assessments anymore.
This meant that he no longer had to worry about preparing for exams, but that didn't mean he could relax. By next month, he might receive a new assignment and undergo further advanced training, so these days, he had been going to the Martial Arts Department's training hall early in the morning to spar with the students there, familiarizing himself with the use of the longsword.
During these sparring sessions, they naturally used training weapons. Even though he had a firearms license, there was no need for him to carry weapons around within the academy.
On this particular day, after finishing his training, he returned to the dormitory, planning to freshen up before heading for dinner. However, as he exited the elevator and walked towards the dormitory area, he noticed someone standing in front of his room. This person had a pale complexion and a somewhat handsome appearance, wearing an expensive and exquisite imported suit.
Wei Dong was also standing there, staring at this person with a stern gaze.
Chen Chuan was surprised and looked back and forth between the two of them. Then, he turned to Wei Dong and asked curiously, "Wei, what's going on here?"
Wei Dong replied, "Chen, this guy doesn't seem like a good person."
Chen Chuan smiled and said, "This is the dormitory building. Since the dormitory staff allowed him to come here, I assume there's no problem."
Wei Dong thought for a moment and said, "But he still doesn't seem like a good person."
Chen Chuan nodded and glanced at the young man again. "I'll handle this," he said. Wei Dong responded with a "Okay," and promptly returned to his room, slamming the door shut.
Chen Chuan then turned to the young man and asked, "What brings you here, senior? Why are you standing at my dormitory door?"
The handsome young man, upon hearing this, no longer maintained his previous calm demeanor. He turned to Chen Chuan and said, "So, you're Chen Chuan?"
Chen Chuan nodded and confirmed, "Yes, it's me."
The handsome young man looked at him and said, "I have something to discuss with you in private. It's important for you."
Chen Chuan glanced at him and took out his keys to open the door, gesturing for the young man to enter. "Please," he said.
The young man didn't hesitate and walked straight into the room. Chen Chuan followed him inside and went to the cabinet, pouring himself a glass of water. "I only have plain water here," he said.
The young man walked to the center of the living room and turned around after standing still. "My name is Jing Lin, and I'm not yet your senior," he said.
Chen Chuan nodded and said, "So, Mr. Jing, you wanted to talk to me. What is it that you'd like to discuss?"
Jing Lin spoke calmly, "My teacher wants to meet you. You may not know his identity, but I'll tell you now. He's from Central City, and this is an opportunity for you. My teacher rarely gives people opportunities like this."
"You're lucky," he continued, "I don't know why my teacher suddenly took an interest in you, especially since you don't seem particularly special. Anyway, that's all I have to say. Let's go."
As he spoke, Jing Lin started walking towards the door.
However, when he reached the door, he realized that Chen Chuan was still standing in the same spot, unmoved. Jing Lin frowned and said irritably, "Why are you still standing there? Hurry up and follow me!"
Chen Chuan turned around, his back facing the floor-to-ceiling window, casting a long shadow that made his features somewhat indistinct. But his voice carried clearly, "I'm sorry, Mr. Jing, but I have no interest in meeting your teacher."
Jing Lin was taken aback and seemed to find it unbelievable. He looked Chen Chuan up and down and said, "Do you understand what you're saying? Do you not grasp the significance of this? Forget it..." He seemed impatient, "Let me say it again. Now, follow me and come meet my teacher. Do you understand?"
Chen Chuan replied calmly, "I'm sorry, but if that's all you have to say, I've already given you my clear answer. Mr. Jing, you can leave now."
Jing Lin let out a cold laugh and said, "Foolish!" He spoke with irritation, "Do you think what you've seen is all there is? I hate people like you who are so self-righteous."
Chen Chuan remained calm and said, "If you don't want to leave, I can ask the dormitory staff to escort you out."
Jing Lin stared at him for a moment, then heaved a laugh. He lowered his head and then raised it again, saying with a cold smile, "I knew it would come to this. You people from small towns are always so arrogant and narrow-minded. You don't know what the real world is like."
He heaved another sigh, "I've read about you in the newspapers. You seem quite capable, and I want to see for myself and let you..." He tugged at his tie, "...understand the world anew."
Chen Chuan looked at him and asked, "You want to spar with me?"
"Spar? Hehe, if that's what you think, so be it."
Chen Chuan nodded and said, "Sure, let's go outside." He took the lead and walked out, with Jing Lin following closely behind.
In no time, the two of them exited the corridor and arrived at the training ground on the same floor. They faced each other, standing still.
Chen Chuan slightly stretched his shoulders and noticed that Jing Lin was standing rigidly, showing no intention to move. "Sir, don't you need to warm up?"
