Chapter 96: Su Chen Arrives, Ferocious Overlord Stance Activated
Chapter 96: Su Chen Arrives, Ferocious Overlord Stance Activated
Returning from Medicine Town, Su Chen had originally planned to head home first before meeting Hong Ming the next day.
But as he passed the County Courthouse, something felt off. The bailiffs and archers were fully armed and exuding a grim, battle-ready aura, as if preparing for a deadly mission.
At first, he paid no mind, assuming they were part of Tao Dingfang’s arrangements when he saw them enter Tao Manor.
Yet before he could walk far, a shadowy figure slipped into Tao Manor. The sight froze Su Chen in place.
He recognized that figure instantly—it was Sun Yun, the one hunted by Tao Dingfang.
Seeing Sun Yun vanish into Tao Manor, Su Chen hesitated briefly before changing course to follow.
No sooner had he entered the manor than he heard faint sounds of battle. His gut tightened.
Since the noises came from the same direction Sun Yun had taken, Su Chen rushed toward them, soon arriving at a courtyard.
What he saw made his blood run cold—Hong Ming and others were surrounded by Imperial Guards.
Though unsure of the situation, there was no time to deliberate. As the guards prepared to fire arrows, Su Chen acted without hesitation.
He darted forward, reaching the archers hidden on the courtyard wall in a flash. He swiftly killed several archers mid-shot, then hurled their corpses to block the incoming arrows, saving Hong Ming’s group.
Without pausing, he grabbed a handful of arrows and loosed them in rapid succession.
The arrows weren’t perfectly aimed but flew with blinding speed and wide coverage. The archers, caught completely off guard, lost a third of their numbers in the first volley of Deathblow Arrows.
Before they could recover, Su Chen’s second barrage struck, felling another seven or eight archers.
Now aware of Su Chen’s presence, the remaining archers turned their bows toward him, but he charged headlong into their fire, grabbing more arrows mid-leap.
Whoosh! Whoosh! Whoosh!
Dozens of Deathblow Arrows streaked through the air, locking onto Su Chen at point-blank range. Yet he showed no fear, his body accelerating instead.
Clang! Clang! Clang!
“What?!”
Every arrow struck him dead-on, but none pierced his skin. They rebounded as if hitting steel, leaving him unscathed.
“My turn!”
Seizing the archers’ stunned hesitation, Su Chen unleashed another volley. Screams erupted as the remaining archers fell.
“Haha! The archers are dead! Everyone, charge!”
A battered martial cultivator shouted, his face alight with triumph—until an Imperial Guard cut him down.
The survivors looked up, their gazes locking onto Su Chen’s lone figure. From despair, a spark of hope ignited. Desperation fueled their strength, turning them into raging beasts.
“Su Shidi!”
“Xiao Chen!”
Hong Ming and the others stared in shock as Su Chen tore through enemies like a whirlwind.
His movements were a masterpiece of lethality—clean, decisive, and ruthless. Dozens of archers fell within moments, their deaths shaking the group as much as when Su Chen first revealed his martial cultivation prowess.
Stunned and bewildered, they wondered: Was this the same Su Chen they knew? How had his strength grown so vast, so suddenly?
“Are you all alright?” Su Chen asked, crushing nearby Imperial Guards before turning to them.
His eyes swept over Hong Ming and Li Mo, noting their injuries with a frown.
Hong Ming shook his head. “We’re fine. Let’s go before Tao Dingfang reacts.”
“Alright. You retreat first—I’ll cover you.”
Nodding, Su Chen plunged into the fray, unleashing a slaughter that turned the tide.
“Go!” Hong Ming shouted, sparing one last glance at Su Chen before leading the survivors.
Crash!
“Hahaha! Xiao Changhe, Zhao Baiyu, Ning Yuan—do you really think three of you can kill me? A fool’s dream!”
The three figures staggered backward, crashing to the ground in a cloud of dust, their wounds bleeding profusely as they stared at the man before them.
Tao Dingfang’s laughter died abruptly as he sensed danger. His eyes narrowed. “It’s you again!”
Spotting the dead archers and Su Chen’s rampage, his gaze turned icy. Seeing his men slaughtered, fury hardened his expression.
“Stop them!” he roared, dashing forward to intercept Xiao Changhe, Zhao Baiyu, and Ning Yuan. His palms struck as one, instantly killing Zhao and Ning.
Xiao Changhe’s eyes burned with desperation. Knowing retreat was impossible, he snarled, “Even if I die, I’ll take you with me!”
He slammed his palm into the ground, rebounding skyward with explosive force. Using the recoil, he surged forward like lightning, his palm crashing out with thunderous momentum.
The air itself seemed to compress, the palm’s howling wind cutting through space.
“Die!”
Tao Dingfang, intending to finish the trio before confronting Su Chen, met Xiao Changhe’s strike with a cold sneer. His fist roared forward, splitting the air.
The collision erupted in deafening booms, shockwaves rippling outward, churning dust into a storm.
Boom!
Xiao Changhe flew backward, blood spraying mid-air. He crashed to the ground with a tremor, sliding to a halt at Su Chen’s feet.
Su Chen’s gaze met Tao Dingfang’s, a cold smirk forming. He’d long despised this man, and now, seeing him attack Hong Ming’s group, his killing intent surged.
But with Hong Ming’s group not yet safe, he refused to be bogged down. With a whirl of his arms, he hurled Imperial Guards like sandbags toward Tao Dingfang.
Tao Dingfang’s eyes narrowed as he caught one guard, hurling it aside.
“Where is he?!” he barked, shoving aside the guards to find Su Chen vanished. His face darkened. “After him!”
At his command, the guards surged forward. Tao Dingfang himself finished off the dying martial cultivators in the courtyard with ruthless efficiency.
Stepping outside Tao Manor, he glared at the fleeing carriage in the distance, his voice a cold promise:
“Hmph. You won’t escape my grasp.”
