Chapter 96: First Battle Against the Disaster Beast
Chapter 96: First Battle Against the Disaster Beast
Crimson Haven Residential District
A luxury community specifically built for elite martial artists by a company affiliated with the Crimson Vault Martial Arts Pavilion.
Inside a grand three-story villa covering over a thousand square feet, Yue Feng sat on a plush sofa in the living room, scrolling through short videos and chuckling intermittently.
“Beep!!”
“Red alert!!”
A crimson metal orb swiftly floated over, emitting blinding red light.
“Master, according to the satellite defense system, three small Spatial Gates have opened in Tianhai City. A Disaster Beast surge has erupted!”
“What?!” Yue Feng, clad in a loose martial arts uniform, shot up from his seat. A terrifying aura exploded from him, whipping up a violent gust.
“Notify all other pavilion masters and martial artists above the Third Realm nearby to mobilize rescue efforts and suppress this Disaster Beast surge immediately!”
Snatching his combat suit from an approaching service robot, Yue Feng pulled it on and grabbed his battle saber.
“Master, the call has been dispatched!”
“Where’s the nearest location?”
As he stepped through the front door, Yue Feng barked the question.
“The nearest site is Wanda Plaza on Hailong Avenue, approximately ten kilometers from here.”
“Damn it! This must’ve been planned. When I find the culprits, I’ll skin them alive!” Yue Feng’s teeth clenched.
“Give me three minutes. I hope everyone can hold out!”
“Launch aircraft!”
“Boom!!”
Above the villa’s lawn, a red saucer-shaped aircraft opened its hatch. Yue Feng’s aura darkened as an invisible, terrifying energy erupted from his body. With a sudden burst, he shot skyward like a rocket, landing smoothly inside the aircraft. Alpha followed closely behind.
“Swish! Swish!!”
The red aircraft streaked into the distance like an arrow.
...
Gold Street, Wanda Plaza
Lin Qi sprinted against the fleeing crowd toward Gold Street, his mind racing. Small Spatial Gate means the highest threat is Level 3 Disaster Beasts.
Spatial Gates came in three sizes: small, medium, and large. Each allowed beasts of corresponding strength—Level 3, Level 6, and Level 9 (King Rank) respectively.
Currently at the Second Realm, Lin Qi knew he could survive if he avoided Level 3 beasts. His parents faced similar odds.
“Heh-heh!!”
“Ahhh!!”
“Boom!!”
A cacophony of screams drew Lin Qi’s attention as he reached Wanda Plaza. A massive, jet-black figure charged into a bubble tea shop, triggering bloodcurdling shrieks.
The shop lay in ruins, tables overturned. Nearby stores bore similar damage, glass shards mingling with blood. A few unlucky pedestrians lay sprawled, blood pooling around them.
“Roaaar~”
The beast stood over a meter and a half tall, its body armored in rough black hide glistening coldly under the sun. Spines jutted from its hide, and its curved tusks, like massive axes, gleamed menacingly.
Lin Qi identified it instantly—the most common Level 1 Disaster Beast: Ironthorn Boar, a staple in textbooks.
Weighing 500 kilograms, it dwarfed ordinary pigs. Its small red eyes locked onto Lin Qi, hunger flashing within.
The creature let out a low roar, thundering toward him on powerful hooves, sending dust swirling.
A nearby snack shop’s employee peeked out, muttering, “Why isn’t he moving? This guy’s doomed!” He shut his eyes, unable to watch.
Lin Qi stood still, heart pounding. Adrenaline surged as the beast’s killer intent awakened a primal instinct. Vital energy roared through his veins, igniting his body.
“Hiss~”
At the last moment, Lin Qi vanished. The Ironthorn Boar’s charge missed. Momentum carried it forward as Lin Qi’s mind raced through counterattacks.
Swinging his black longspear, he channeled immense power into the blade.
Mountain-Shattering Spear Method—Collapse Thrust!
“Pshk!”
The spear pierced the beast’s vulnerable neck with brutal force. Lin Qi yanked it back, spraying blood into the air.
The Ironthorn Boar galloped another dozen meters before collapsing, limbs twitching.
First battle, first kill.
Inside the snack shop, the employee gaped. “That was incredible! Which university prodigy is that? So strong!”
Lin Qi remained composed, though the stench of blood made his stomach churn. Though this was his first real fight—where one misstep meant death—he felt no fear. Instead, exhilaration coursed through him.
Snatching up his thunderhorn spear, he sprinted onward. His parents’ safety remained his sole focus.
...
On Gold Street, chaos reigned. Scores of Ironthorn Boars and larger beasts rampaged through shops, blood and screams saturating the air. Martial artists clashed with the monsters.
In a hotpot restaurant turned battlefield, Lin Zhen smashed a chair into an attacking boar’s face.
“Roar!!”
The beast’s tusks shattered the table, its charge unbroken. Without a weapon, Lin Zhen struggled.
“Catch!” Fang Huiyi tossed him a fire axe.
Lin Zhen snatched it, unleashing blade techniques. Thirty seconds later, the boar crumpled.
“Fang Huiyi, I’m fine—but the others…” Lin Zhen’s face twisted with guilt.
“We need to find Xiaoqi!” Fang Huiyi urged.
“Let’s go!” Lin Zhen nodded.
“Halt!!” Fang Huiyi suddenly froze, eyes widening.
“Look out!”
