Chapter 955: You Monster!
Chapter 955: You Monster!
The impact on Kaido was immense. He rarely fought in this stance, and even Whitebeard, that old man, had never left him with wounds that couldn’t be restored.
Of course, there had been no real reason for other True Combatants to go all-out against him either. Kaido had shattered other Yonko Groups, ravaged Marine Headquarters, and even survived countless death sentences. His monstrous physique had shrugged off all of it.
His madness to ‘self-destruct’ like this wasn’t just boredom—it was a test of his strength. Twenty years ago, Oden had left him with a mere wisp of a scar, but now, at the peak of his power, who could still mark his body?
Perhaps someone could. No, certainly someone could. The World’s Greatest Swordsman, Dracule Mihawk, could. Full Power Four Emperors or Admirals might manage it too.
But who would bother fighting with lethal seriousness when they knew they couldn’t kill each other? That would only result in wanton destruction of their surroundings.
Situations requiring their full power were rare indeed. Over time, this stance became something they rarely used.
Even two years ago, Kuro had only faced Kaido’s ordinary form. But now? This version of Kuro was leagues beyond that. The wounds he carved weren’t just about scars—they were wounds that would spread.
A wisp of grave unease flickered in Kaido’s eyes. If not for his absurd physical constitution and regeneration, the damage would’ve been far worse. This injury radiated killing intent and damage that spread through the body like poison, gradually dismantling internal structures with each passing moment.
But Kaido’s regeneration held the wound at bay—confined to his chest.
How did he know? Simple—he’d been slashed before.
A wisp of crimson energy flew from the wound as Kuro hovered above, blade in hand, his expression grim. His condition was far from ideal. The Sun Pattern emblem on his Killing Intent armor had been shattered, blood dripping from his eyes, nose, mouth, and ears.
That bloodshot band of his had absorbed most of the blow—but only partially. The strike had still landed.
Kuro’s physical constitution paled compared to Kaido’s current form. Even at reduced strength, this attack had left its mark.
The bloodshot bands weren’t something Kuro had deliberately trained toward. After battling Bartholomew, his understanding of the Killing Intent Domain technique had deepened, and one day, the bloodshot bands had manifested on their own.
As soon as they appeared, Kuro grasped their power. They were simply devastating.
Unlike his swordsmanship-based techniques—where even his ability-enhanced Telekinesis Blade had only one ultimate move—the Shinmeiryu Style’s Final Mystic Art and Ultimate Mystic Art allowed instant basic attacks, albeit weaker than the full version.
The bloodshot bands were different. Their core was ability, not swordsmanship. Using the Float-Float Fruit’s Freedom Control, they materialized his Killing Intent, Haki, and swordsmanship into tangible power—the embodiment of sheer destructive force.
They could attack, absorb incoming attacks’ damage, or even encase his blade to amplify its lethality. They’d even enabled Kuro to complete the Ultimate Mystic Art of Telekinesis Blade.
This encasement, an ability-first Ultimate Mystic Art, surpassed even the Four Deities’ Great Mystic Arts in raw power. But for Kuro’s own physical limits, each band could only be used six times.
This Full Power stance drained him. To avoid recklessly overextending like he had against Bartholomew, he’d set a hard limit—six uses. No more. Without restraint, he’d risk burning out his strength entirely.
Kaido threw his head back, roaring, “If you’d hit my head, Old Man, you’d be dead!”
“I don’t believe you.”
Kuro tightened his grip on the Yokai Blade, coldly replying, “Try letting me strike your head.”
“Hōrōrōrōrō! You’ve got guts!” Kaido’s laughter cut off as he lunged forward, Wolf’s Spirit Thundercloud rising. His fist smashed upward.
“Hurricane Thunder · Uncharted Path!”
A shockwave of wind and lightning erupted from his staff, blasting toward Kuro.
Kuro soared upward, slashing downward with the Yokai Blade, sending a torrent of crimson slashes raining onto Kaido.
“Ha!” Kaido didn’t dodge. With a roar, he swung the Wolf’s Spirit Thundercloud, shattering the slashes in an instant.
“Come on, Kuro! Use that move that killed the Old Man! Come on!” Kaido taunted, swinging his staff.
“You think I won’t?!”
Kuro vanished mid-air, reappearing behind Kaido in a flash, cleaving downward.
Clang!
Kaido twisted his staff to intercept the blade, but as the impact rang out, a bloodshot band lashed from Kuro’s waist like a blade, aiming straight for Kaido’s heart.
“That’s it! Yes!” Kaido howled, letting the band pierce his chest, tearing through his armor. The moment it touched him, he seized the band, letting his armored hand shatter into pulp—but his grip held firm. With a yank, he pulled Kuro toward him.
Crash!
His spiked knee smashed into Kuro’s torso, shattering his Killing Intent armor, the spike piercing his abdomen as blood spilled.
Kuro grunted, but the seized band began to twist violently. Kaido released it just in time to dodge a crushing counterattack from Kuro, then headbutted him square in the chest, sending him flying.
As Kuro soared backward, Kaido’s mangled, bloodied hand gripped the Iron Mace, now wielding it with both hands. The Wolf’s Spirit Thundercloud flared with aura as he swung it straight at Kuro.
Kuro lowered his head, eyes sharp. He released the twisted band, encasing it around the Iron Mace. Another band encased the Yokai Blade as he slashed downward at Kaido’s head.
Kaido dodged sideways. The blade carved a diagonal slash from his shoulder to chest, intersecting the earlier horizontal wound, forming a jagged cross.
At the same moment, the Iron Mace slammed into Kuro’s chest, launching him backward like a baseball pitch.
“Tsk.”
Kaido’s chest wound regenerated, the bloodied pulp of his palm healing as he wiped the fresh injury. He bared his teeth, roaring, “That hurt, Kuro!”
Kuro halted mid-air, clutching his bleeding stomach, his breath ragged. He gritted his teeth, snarling, “You monster!”
