Chapter 955: Mr. Ma's Deep Sins
Chapter 955: Mr. Ma's Deep Sins
Lava God.
Few in the world would know this monster better than Mr. Ma, and even Malik was more accustomed to facing it from outside the cage rather than within.
In the original work, it was not Surface Malik who used Lava God, but his alter ego, Dark Malik.
However, when Dark Malik took control of Surface Malik's body, he was already aboard the airship for the Duel City's quarterfinals. Although Dark Malik made some modifications to the original deck, replacing a few cards, he was limited by the cards available on the airship. Most of the deck's foundation still belonged to Surface Malik's original build.
After the alter ego was eliminated, the deck he used was also retained, and the cards he had used naturally became Surface Malik's possession afterward.
Therefore, Malik was no stranger to the tactics involving Lava God, and he had already guessed what his opponent was planning just by observing the situation.
The SubmarineROID was responsible for direct attacks, and Lava God could not only devour its own higher-level monsters but also consistently burn Life Points each turn, specializing in torment.
But there was more.
"At the moment the SubmarineROID revives, I activate this card," You Xuan said, "Hell Summoning Sprint! A Quick-Play Magic card that can only be activated when a monster with 1500 or less ATK is successfully Special Summoned to your field. As many of the same name cards as possible are Special Summoned from your hand and Deck."
Malik's expression grew even more somber. "1500 or less ATK, you mean the SubmarineROID?"
You Xuan nodded. "That's right. So, I'll Special Summon the other two SubmarineROIDs back to the field once again!"
The other two anthropomorphic submarines broke through the water's surface and landed on the field side by side. The three SubmarineROIDs stood shoulder to shoulder, their torpedoes loaded and ready to fire at any moment.
Malik couldn't help but grit his teeth again.
He dared not underestimate these SubmarineROIDs in the slightest.
Three SubmarineROIDs flew out at once, all capable of leaping to the front row for direct attacks. Furthermore, one of the SubmarineROIDs could receive a boost from 'Gigamachine City' during its attack, swapping its ATK and DEF, resulting in a formidable 1800 ATK.
This three-hit combo from the SubmarineROIDs could deal a terrifying 3400 damage in one go, ignoring defense and directly attacking the opponent's Life Points. Even a god couldn't stop this onslaught.
At this point, Malik's Life Points were down to a mere 2200. With this in mind, he didn't have the luxury to worry about Lava God's burn effect; these three SubmarineROIDs could finish him off right then and there.
"But Hell Summoning Sprint doesn't stop there," You Xuan continued. "While it's powerful to summon three of your own monsters at once, such a powerful effect also comes with significant risk.
The cost of Hell Summoning Sprint is that your opponent must also choose one of their monsters on the field, and Special Summon as many of the same name cards as possible from their Deck."
Malik was taken aback.
Choose one of his own monsters on the field and Special Summon its namesake cards from the Deck?
He hesitantly looked up, his expression betraying his disbelief, and glanced at the only monster on his field.
There, the burning Iron Man was also looking down, innocently pointing at his own nose, meeting Malik's gaze.
But isn't Lava God the only one?
Malik: "!"
So, do I have to summon this thing from my own Deck?
What kind of joke is this?
One Lava God burns 1000 Life Points during the Standby Phase, and two of them burn 2000 Life Points every turn.
If Mr. Ma's Deck contains three Lava Gods, it's over. He'll have to Special Summon three Lava Gods from his Deck, and on the next turn, they'll burn 4000 Life Points directly, enough to defeat him even at full health.
What a ridiculous way to die.
Malik now understood that this might have been the opponent's plan from the start. It was not only a decisive move to end the duel, but more importantly, it was a hilarious one.
What kind of despicable mind could come up with such a tactic! Malik spat blood.
Just a few seconds ago, he was touched by the fact that he had become a role model for the younger generation, inspiring an excellent young man to embark on the path of a Duelist. Malik, as a Duelist, had finally done something good in his life.
But now, he deeply realized that this could hardly be considered a good deed.
He had unintentionally created such a Dueling demon, and his sins were even heavier!
Malik gritted his teeth, "I don't want to Summon."
"That's not possible," You Xuan shook his head repeatedly, then smiled and explained, "Hell Summoning Sprint is a mandatory Summon, and the opponent must choose a monster with the same name from their field.
If the opponent has no face-up monsters on their field, this card cannot be activated."
After a brief pause, You Xuan added with a smile, "Of course, if Mr. Malik's Deck, hand, and Graveyard combined don't have a monster with the same name, then this effect is considered a blank activation, and you don't have to Summon.
So, is there a Lava Golem in Mr. Malik's Deck?"
Malik: "..."
He searched through his Deck, and after a few seconds of silence, he stiffly pulled out a card.
"I Special Summon 'Lava Golem' from my Deck."
Malik's field was once again filled with surging lava, and a burning lava giant slowly appeared on his side.
This was probably the most reluctant time Malik had ever Summoned Lava Golem.
In the original animation, the Lava Golem that Malik initially played could only burn its controller for 700 Life Points at the start of the turn, but it was later upgraded to 1000 Life Points when it became a real card.
However, ten years have passed since then, and Lava Golem has been developed and upgraded. The version that burns 700 Life Points is now out of print. Mr. Ma also has an upgraded version, and the old version from ten years ago has been retired.
But now, he regretted it a little. If it were the old version, he could at least lose 300 less Life Points next turn, assuming he had a next turn.
"SubmarineROID," You Xuan ordered, "Direct Attack!"
SubmarineROID No. 1 took the lead, launching torpedoes that dragged water vortices. Ignoring the two burning iron giants, they headed straight for Malik himself.
"Activate my Set card!" Malik shouted, "Continuous Trap, Element Absorber!
Exclude a monster from the game by sending it from your hand, and your opponent's monsters with the same Attribute as the excluded monster cannot declare an attack!"
Malik revealed the monster card in his hand. A water vortex immediately opened above his head, sucking the card into it. The vortex then turned into a surging body of water and flowed into the Element Absorber in the back row, forming a water-like membrane barrier in front.
"I exclude the Water-Attribute 'Poison Root King' from the game by sending it from my hand, sealing the attack of your Water-Attribute monsters!"
The torpedoes exploded on the water membrane, creating a series of splashes, but with no effect.
"SubmarineROID is a Water-Attribute monster," You Xuan explained.
"That's right," Malik said, "So all three of your SubmarineROID monsters cannot attack!"
