Chapter 953: Ivan: Don't Think You Can Use the Same Trick on Me Twice
Chapter 953: Ivan: Don’t Think You Can Use the Same Trick on Me Twice
As the explosion echoed, the over a hundred Wizards responsible for maintaining the Magic Barrier were also severely injured by the Magic Backlash.
The Magic Barrier, which had tightly confined Grindelwald, shattered within seconds after losing its power source.
Seeing the Aurors writhing in agony on the ground, Cornell finally understood why Grindelwald had waited until now to make his move. He wanted to cripple their resistance in a single instant!
The situation on the field rapidly reversed. The Wizard Delegates who had been invited to watch the spectacle were now in a panic, their shrill screams filling the air.
If Grindelwald had been a fierce tiger trapped in a cage before, now that tiger was out, and they, the onlookers standing high above, had been plunged into the abyss, becoming his prey!
Avada Kedavra!
Regaining his freedom, Grindelwald raised his wand and cast a Killing Curse, aiming directly at Cornell, who had just given the order to imprison him!
Cornell clearly hadn’t recovered from the sudden turn of events. By the time he saw Grindelwald raise his wand, it was too late. The dark green light was impossibly fast, reaching him in an instant.
Just as Cornell thought he was about to die, a chair that had fallen to the ground suddenly flew up, blocking his path.
The green beam struck the wooden chair and exploded, sending splinters flying that scratched Cornell’s face, leaving bloody marks. But Cornell paid no attention, stumbling backward a few steps, feeling immense relief at his narrow escape.
“Thank you for your assistance, Sir Hals…” Cornell turned to look at Ivan, who had saved him, and expressed his gratitude.
Ivan nodded, gesturing for Cornell to move back, then turned his gaze to Grindelwald, who was emerging from the flames. He spoke slowly, “It seems your plan wasn’t as perfect as you thought…”
“Life is always full of surprises, isn’t it?” Grindelwald raised an eyebrow, speaking with a nonchalant tone.
He hadn’t left immediately after breaking free, not because he wanted to chat with Ivan. In fact, he couldn’t leave, as the Anti-Apparition Ward in the Congress Building was still active and hadn’t been disabled.
This was somewhat unexpected.
To ensure his safe escape after his identity was exposed, Grindelwald had set up a trigger mechanism in the Department of Mysteries. If he sensed a large-scale magical conflict, the Fiendfyre seed he left behind would immediately ignite, engulfing the entire department!
However, it seemed the Aurors stationed in the Department of Mysteries were not as incompetent as he had anticipated. They had likely already suppressed his Fiendfyre…
“Since you’re here, why don’t you stay? We have some old scores to settle…” Ivan said coldly, taking the initiative. He shook his wand, and several dark spell beams shot out.
Grindelwald remained calm, tapping his Elder Wand in the air, and an invisible magic shield materialized. The beams struck it, producing a strange, muffled sound.
“Thunder!” Ivan pressed his advantage, swinging his bone wand again. A dense blue lightning bolt instantly formed at the tip, tearing through the already weakened magic shield at an unimaginable speed, striking Grindelwald directly.
However, this attack had little effect. Another layer of solid Magic appeared around Grindelwald, blocking the incoming lightning.
"Your power has weakened..." Grindelwald suddenly spoke, noting that while the spells Ivan had released were powerful, they still fell short of the strength he had displayed in Nicolas Flamel's Tomb.
This only confirmed his earlier suspicion: the young wizard before him must have used some special method to amplify his combat strength, and it was likely not sustainable.
"This level of power is more than enough to deal with you..." Ivan did not bother to explain. Without any visible movement, a faint white mist gradually began to emerge from his wand.
Accompanied by a piercing neigh, the ethereal Unicorn Shadow appeared before the onlookers.
The Wizards present felt their fear rapidly dissipate. Many stopped fleeing and turned to watch the two figures standing in the Headmaster's Office, facing off against each other.
"Serpensortia!" Ivan had no time to concern himself with the others' thoughts. With a flick of his wand, a giant serpent, several dozen meters long, lunged forward, its raised body almost hitting the ceiling.
The ethereal Unicorn Shadow, enveloped in a mist of light, used the Giant Serpent as cover and charged toward Grindelwald.
Grindelwald's brow furrowed. With a forceful swing of his Elder Wand, the Giant Serpent was torn into two pieces, showering the room with snake blood. Under the guidance of Magic, the blood coalesced into a snake-blood whip, lashing out at the ethereal Unicorn Shadow.
Having witnessed this bizarre Blood Magic before, Ivan had no intention of letting the Unicorn Shadow engage in a direct confrontation. With a slight turn of his wand, the ethereal Unicorn let out a sharp neigh and then suddenly plunged into the ground, bypassing the snake-blood whip.
Grindelwald was taken aback, clearly not expecting this move. However, he quickly recovered, and his Wizard Robes transformed into an Invisibility Cloak, causing him to vanish on the spot...
Ivan had already learned the troublesome nature of the Invisibility Cloak from their previous battle and was not unprepared. As soon as he saw Grindelwald disappear, he swiftly grabbed a bag of Alchemical Powder from his robes and scattered it into the air.
"Wind!" Ivan shouted, waving his wand.
Under the influence of Blood Magic, a powerful wind suddenly arose in the enclosed Headmaster's Office, mixing the Alchemical Powder into the air and blowing it forward.
Moments later, most of the Headmaster's Office was covered in the red Alchemical Powder, forcing the invisible Grindelwald to reappear.
"Scourgify!" Grindelwald tried to remove the red powder from his Invisibility Cloak, but to no avail.
"Don't waste your effort. This is a specially crafted Alchemical Powder with strong exorcistic and adhesive properties. It won't disappear for days... Don't even think about using the same trick twice in front of me!" Ivan, gripping his bone wand, sneered.
