Chapter 950: Yu Xuan Feels Completely Normal
Chapter 950: Yu Xuan Feels Completely Normal
This was perhaps the pinnacle of the Dandelion Lion's existence, an unprecedented feat in its kind.
Despite being just a small Dandelion Lion, its attack power had been stacked infinitely, and with the Dark Duel's empowerment, if an ordinary person were to face this strike, their soul might very well be shattered into pieces by the impact of the dandelion.
Of course, Mr. T was no ordinary person. As a mass-produced pawn of Darkness, Mr. T could be considered immortal. Or, to put it another way, even though this Mr. T had been thoroughly eliminated, there were countless others like him, all sharing a hive-like consciousness.
All the pawns' consciousnesses were synchronized, and their memories were constantly updated in sync. They would gather information about their opponents from fallen comrades and return stronger the next time.
As the dandelion's impact shattered Mr. T, his body disintegrated into a cloud of mist and black cards that scattered.
But even as his physical form dissipated, a voice echoed from an unknown source in the sky.
"Duel King Fujiki Yu Xuan, you are indeed a troublesome existence. But Darkness has taken note of you, and I will be back."
The voice gradually faded, and by the time it reached the last sentence, it was as if it came from a great distance, almost inaudible.
Yu Xuan watched the black mist drift away, standing still in his spot, deep in thought, his brows furrowed.
"Looks like another dangerous guy," said the Thousand Gold, yawning lazily.
"Master, you're attracting more and more strange fellows," she added.
"Yeah," Yu Xuan agreed, "and have you noticed that our opponents are getting tougher and tougher?"
"Hmm, is that so?" The Thousand Gold tilted her head.
Yu Xuan remained silent, but he had indeed noticed this trend. The previous Yeshen he defeated was just a consciousness projection, and the real one couldn't be harmed by conventional means, which wasn't surprising since he usually relied on projections to roam freely in the fairy realm.
The unknown entity using "Dark Dominator Zuoke" also had an elusive true form. Now, Mr. T seemed to be like Agent Smith, with a hive mind, and unless they confronted the true Darkness, these pawns would be endless, and they couldn't be eliminated.
It seemed that once BOSS-level villains reached a certain level, they each had their unique skills and ways to ensure their survival. Even in the Yu-Gi-Oh! world, where the rule of 'gambling your life in a duel meant certain death,' everyone had their own tricks to exploit. As long as one didn't easily expose themselves, it wasn't easy to be defeated.
"What are you thinking about, Master?" asked the Thousand Gold, curious about his deep thoughts. She approached him and waved her small, paper-white hand in front of his eyes.
"Oh, nothing much," Yu Xuan replied. "I was just thinking, what with these Yeshens, Dark Lords, and embodiments of light, they all have countless projections, maybe even across different dimensions.
So, I was wondering if there's a possibility that I could project more consciousness like I did when I linked to the fairy realm. That way, even if I can't defeat my opponents, at least I'll have more chances to gauge their strength, right?"
The Thousand Gold was momentarily stunned by his idea, frozen in place for a few seconds before bursting into laughter.
"What's so funny?" Yu Xuan asked.
"No, nothing, I dare not, Master, haha," she giggled.
The Thousand Gold laughed so hard her umbrella tilted.
"Although this idea is a bit abstract and probably beyond the capabilities of ordinary people, I believe that one day, you might find a way to make it happen.
It's just... it's just that you compared yourself to Yeshens, Dark Lords, and the like, and it suddenly struck me as funny.
"Is that funny?" Yu Xuan tilted her head in thought.
"I think it's quite normal," she replied. "It's only natural for people to want something nice when they see others having it, right?"
After this brief interruption, Yu Xuan safely dealt with Mr. T, though it could hardly be called a close call. She then proceeded to the address provided by Reidou, where she found the hotel where Malik Ishtar and his sister were staying.
Both siblings were legendary Duelists and representatives of the afterlife in the first Dueling City, the sunny and cheerful Malik, and Isis, who had once been known for her ruthless gameplay, leaving behind a terrifying reputation in the history of the Dueling King.
Unfortunately, on this trip, Yu Xuan didn't get to meet Mr. Izzy, only Isis, who promptly came downstairs to greet her upon hearing of her arrival. They shook hands and introduced themselves.
Isis looked much like Yu Xuan remembered from the anime, with only a few years of maturity adding a touch of elegance to her appearance.
After exchanging greetings, Isis bowed slightly and apologized. "I'm so sorry. I had some urgent matters to attend to, so I couldn't come to greet you personally. I had arranged for someone to pick you up at the airport, but just now, for some unknown reason, we lost contact with them."
Yu Xuan suspected that this was likely related to Mr. T. Darkness had set up an ambush at the airport, so the person originally assigned to greet her was probably in grave danger.
Yu Xuan looked around and asked, "Isn't Mr. Reidou here?"
"There was a sudden family matter, and last night, Reidou accompanied Malik back to Egypt to handle it," Isis explained.
Yu Xuan nodded in understanding.
"I'm here specifically to host the Dueling King," Isis said.
"If you're busy, I can come back another time," Yu Xuan offered.
But before she could finish, Isis interrupted, "It's no trouble."
She smiled slightly. "Family matters always keep us busy, and the archaeological bureau constantly has new tasks. It's rare to have free time."
Although the mission of the Tombkeeper Clan had been accomplished, the vast clan, with its three thousand years of history, still existed. The siblings' father, the clan leader, had been killed by Malik's dark personality years ago, forcing the young siblings to shoulder the responsibility of leading the family at a young age.
Previously, the clan had been bound by centuries-old traditions, and their duty was to guard the Pharaoh's secrets and ensure the Pharaoh's return to the afterlife. At least then, they shared a common purpose. Now that their mission was complete, the family, without a unified goal, struggled to maintain stability, and the siblings often had to devote their efforts to managing the clan.
Malik had already returned to Egypt, but Isis was in no hurry.
That evening, she had booked the most luxurious restaurant in the area and prepared an extravagant feast for Yu Xuan.
Yu Xuan wasn't sure if this meal was considered a business expense, given Isis's position as the director of the archaeological bureau, but she didn't hesitate to enjoy the hospitality. Both being Duelists, they abstained from alcohol and instead engaged in a lively conversation about dueling techniques and their experiences over the years.
After the fifth dish, Yu Xuan got straight to the point, "Mr. Reidou mentioned that you have information about the Demon Gods?"
Isis paused for a moment and sighed lightly. "Yes. We originally thought that by sending off the Pharaoh's soul and returning the three thousand-year-old divine artifacts and the three Phantom Gods to their rightful places, everything should have come to an end.
But now it seems that finding peace in this world may not be as easy as we thought."
She put down her chopsticks and stood up, gazing out the window.
"The Demon Gods are about to awaken."
