Chapter 950: No Matter What Technique, They All Boil Down to Light Cannon Style
Chapter 950 – No Matter What Technique, They All Boil Down to Light Cannon Style
The bone-chilling wind howled, tugging at everyone's robes as Kuro stood atop Kaido's Wolf's Spirit Thundercloud. Their eyes locked, and their auras pressed down like suffocating storms.
On the other side, Charlotte·Big Mom wiped a hand across her abdomen, still smoldering from the Light Cannon Fire. A malevolent grin twisted her face as she raised her blade, fixing her gaze on Lucius Kro.
The air grew heavy! Suffocating!!
"Glug—"
Quinn instinctively swallowed. Logically, he should have joined the battle—his leader was fighting, and as one of his Senior Commanders, he had no choice but to intervene. But the intensity of the clash was paralyzing!
Boom!
"Hohohohohoho!"
Kaido roared with laughter, yanking his Iron Mace upward. Kuro soared into the air, twisting his body mid-spin before his Yokai Blade glowed golden, cleaving downward at Kaido.
Clang!!
The Wolf's Spirit Thundercloud blocked horizontally, absorbing the blow and sending shockwaves rippling outward. The moment their weapons met, Kuro’s form blurred into an afterimage, reappearing at Kaido’s side as his blade shimmered with blood-red light, slashing downward again.
"Hmph!!"
Kaido’s eyes flared. He grunted, channeling black thunder through his Wolf's Spirit Thundercloud, swinging it upward in a thunderous counterattack.
Clang!
Clangclangclang!!
Their exchanges became a blur—each collision of steel sending wisps of shockwaves cascading. Kuro moved like a ghost circling Kaido, his blade flashing with every apparition-like teleport. Kaido stood immovable, his Wolf's Spirit Thundercloud a whirlwind of destruction, meeting each of Kuro’s strikes with pinpoint accuracy.
"This Incense Burner’s too fast!" Luffy’s eyes gleamed as he watched the duel.
As far as Kuro’s intentions went, if he was fighting Kaido, he must be on the good side!
"But what kind of aura is that, old man? This isn’t like the one you taught me", Luffy frowned.
For those who understood Haki, it took visible form. Only those ignorant of Haki couldn’t perceive its "shape." Luffy could see Haki’s form, but this was unlike anything the old man had shown him.
Flower Officer Wulang—once a legendary yakuza boss in Wano Country, revered by many—meant nothing to Luffy. What mattered was that this tiny old man had taught him "Ryuo." Over the past few months, enduring the hellish rigors of sumo training in Torikomi Prison, Luffy had cultivated hard and mastered Ryuo.
But this was nothing like that technique!
The tiny old man with blue flames atop his head nodded. "Ryuo is 'Flowing Haki,' but beyond that exists 'Aggregate Haki.' In Wano, we call it 'Muramasa'—the ultimate advanced Observation Haki, forged through relentless refinement like a master craftsman forging a blade. Only those with supreme Haki mastery can wield it."
"Muramasa? Sounds awesome!" Luffy stared at the colliding golden lightning and black thunder, clenching his fist. "I wanna learn this!!"
Boom!!
The Wolf's Spirit Thundercloud clashed against Kuro’s black-edged blade. Kaido’s eyes flared as his arm surged with force, driving Kuro backward in a violent repulsion. Gripping his weapon with both hands, he swung it around in a whirlwind, spinning it faster until it became a razor-edged cyclone. Exhaling fiercely, he unleashed his Heat Breath into the storm, merging scorching flames with his Haki into a devastating inferno.
"Seitan Kaen no Mai: Uncharted Path!!"
Kuro’s pupils contracted. His body arced downward, skidding low to avoid the fiery shockwave. His blade thrust upward as he landed, slashing diagonally at Kaido’s chest. The long blade struck Kaido’s chin, failing to break through his defenses but forcing his head back with a sharp jolt.
Bang!
Kaido kicked out, slamming his boot into Kuro’s chest and sending him soaring. Springing into the air, he raised his Wolf's Spirit Thundercloud overhead, spinning it like a windmill as black thunder crackled outward.
"Destroy Three Worlds!!"
Kuro stabilized his flight mid-air, instantly drawing his two fingers across his Yokai Blade before sheathing it at his waist, his left hand mimicking the scabbard’s mouth. "Ichigen no Koku: One Cut to Sever All!!"
His form became a howling gale, vanishing from sight just as Kaido’s gaze turned murderous, his mace descending.
"Yomotsu Gotei!!"
"Final Thought: White Tiger Slaughter!!"
Boom!!!
As the mace smashed downward, Kuro reappeared, both hands gripping his blade in a diagonal slash that left no room to dodge. Black thunder clashed with golden lightning, the collision roaring like thunder as the ground trembled. The impact’s shockwave ripples shattered nearby spiked mountains and their weaponized factories.
"Ahh!!"
Quinn clutched his head, despairing. "Boss! If they keep this up, the entire Factory’s gone!!"
"If the Factory’s gone, we’ll just rebuild elsewhere!!"
Kaido’s thunderous roar echoed from the sky as his Iron Mace plunged downward, slamming Kuro like a cannonball into the earth, kicking up a cloud of dust. The recoil sent Kaido soaring upward, his body freezing mid-air for a moment before crashing down heavily.
Hiss!
As he landed, blood trickled from fresh wounds on his Dragonman body.
"Spreading Killing Intent, huh?"
Kaido glanced at the wound on his shoulder, roaring with laughter. "Hohohohohoho! What a thrilling sensation, Kuro!!"
Boom!
The dust exploded outward in a blast, debris scattering like shrapnel.
Kuro emerged from the rubble, his voice cold. "Thrilling? Be careful not to burn yourself, you brute. Why give such a fancy name to a simple technique? What, are all heavy drinkers poets now?"
Kaido’s technique names were amusing.
That "Seitan Kaen no Mai: Uncharted Path" meant the wind and fire strike would leave you lost, unable to find your way.
And the more powerful "Destroy Three Worlds: Yomotsu Gotei"—though it sounded poetic, "Destroy Three Worlds" referred to the three poisons of greed, hatred, and delusion, with "Yomotsu Gotei" (Hell’s Gate) meaning the enemy’s descent to hell. In short: "Your punishment is me—I’ll send you to hell with one blow!"
Such a rugged move, yet dressed up in flowery terms. To the uninitiated, it might sound impressive.
In the end, it was just a mace swing enhanced with elements and a jump.
Compared to Kuro’s technique names, which truly fit the grandeur of a devastating ultimate move!
"Hmph!!"
On the other side, Charlotte·Big Mom unleashed a triangular shockwave, but Lucius Kro raised his massive light blade, pointing it at her.
"Ame-no-Uzume’s Light!!"
Boom!!
A beam of radiant energy erupted from the blade, colliding with Big Mom’s shockwave. The resulting explosion shook the air, its brilliance blinding.
A light cannon?!
Kuro glanced over, lips twitching. Was this all there was to it? No matter what technique they used, did they all end up as Light Cannon Style?
