Chapter 95: Trendy Accessories
Chapter 95: Trendy Accessories
Tempted by the Galleons, Kyle and the others spent an entire week in that cramped, stuffy abandoned classroom, creating a total of over three hundred Pass-Every-Time Charms.
Over a hundred of them were meticulously carved by the six of them, completely handmade without any shortcuts.
The remaining two hundred were mass-produced, with the patterns first carved and then transferred onto pear wood branches using the Replication Charm, a rather perfunctory approach, but they still looked somewhat convincing.
By the end of the week, the group had become quite proficient in using the Replication Charm.
It's worth mentioning that this charm is typically taught in the sixth year.
"It's all up to you now," Kyle said solemnly, looking at the other five during the pre-term dinner. "You know the process; just follow the same method as when we sold the map."
Fred and the others nodded solemnly.
Although they said this, it wasn't a small-scale operation like selling maps; this was a big business targeting the entire school, and they couldn't help but feel a bit nervous.
"Kyle, should we charge Hufflepuff as well?" Cedric, the good-natured one, hesitated.
"This isn't a necessity, Cedric," Kyle patted his shoulder. "But we can offer Hufflepuff a nice discount."
"Half price?"
"No, 95% off!" Kyle added after a moment's thought. "But we can round down, deducting one Knut."
"..."
Cedric twitched his lips. He wanted to insist on his opinion, but there was no point; Kyle firmly controlled the pricing, and his words held no sway.
After a brief discussion, the group dispersed to prepare for the next day's plan.
To ensure effective promotion, Fred and George even wrote a large advertisement overnight and posted it in the most prominent spot in the Gryffindor Common Room.
[Are you still worried about exams? Are you still concerned about not performing well and getting poor grades?
Now, you don't have to worry!
To ensure everyone has a wonderful summer vacation, we proudly present the Pass-Every-Time Charm.
It is mentioned in 'Hogwarts: A History' and has been popular in Hogwarts for over a hundred years. It was once the hottest product, so much so that even Headmaster Dumbledore himself wore it during exams.
Interested buyers, please contact Fred Weasley and George Weasley of the second year.
(Note: This product has only symbolic significance, it cannot enhance the wearer's intelligence nor replace exams, please purchase at your discretion)]
The initial version of the advertisement didn't include the last sentence, but Kyle, upon learning about this, specifically asked them to add it.
The purpose was to emphasize stability and no returns.
Fred and George had initially been worried, thinking that with this sentence, no one would want to buy their product.
But within just half a day, this concern vanished.
When the first person found the meaning of the wand and quill symbol in 'Hogwarts: A History' and shared it with others, young wizards began rushing into their dorm with Sickles and Galleons, fearing that a delay of even a second would mean missing out on the Pass-Every-Time Charm.
Their dorm door had been jammed several times, and eventually, Fred didn't even bother with the repair charm; he simply waved his hand and removed the door.
The situation in Hufflepuff was similar, except that the badgers were crowding Cedric's dorm.
In the Slytherin Common Room, although no posters were put up, word of the matter naturally reached Conna.
Among the six, only Autumn, in charge of Ravenclaw, had it slightly easier, as most of the top students were confident and didn't need it.
...
A few days later, in the same abandoned classroom.
The sawdust and knives that once covered the floor were gone, replaced by a square table and piles of Galleons and Sickles on its surface.
"Gulp," Fred swallowed, "How much is this?"
"In total, it's seven hundred and nine Galleons, fifteen Sickles, and five Knuts," Autumn blurted out. "I didn't expect so many people to order custom items, so it's quite a bit more than expected."
"Over seven hundred Galleons..." George's eyes went blank. "Am I dreaming?"
Fred sighed beside him, "If so, I hope this dream never ends."
Kyle picked up a Galleon from the table and smiled, "Then you better be prepared, because this dream happens seven times."
"In that case, I'd rather wake up soon," Fred laughed.
But as he laughed, his face suddenly scrunched up.
Fred suddenly remembered that he was a year older than Kyle, which meant that by the time Kyle was in his seventh year, he would have already graduated, and there would be no share for him that year.
The correct version is available at 69 Book Bar! 6=9+Book_Bar.
Just thinking about losing hundreds of Galleons made Fred's heart ache. He looked at Kyle resentfully and said, "Why couldn't you have started school last year?"
Kyle felt his whole body go numb and moved away from him in disgust.
"When I start school isn't up to me. You'll have to talk to Dumbledore about that."
"Oh, it's decided by the Book of Admittance," Cedric whispered beside him. "It has nothing to do with the Headmaster."
But Fred and George clearly didn't hear him, as they were now discussing how they could delay their graduation by a year.
When they left, each of their pockets was heavier by one hundred Galleons.
As for the rest of the money, everyone agreed that Kyle should keep it as the startup fund for the next activity.
Kyle agreed.
Originally, he had planned to invest this money in the Weasley brothers' business, but they were currently busy searching for the complete password to the Marauder's Map and had no time to spare for their joke products.
They'll talk about it next year.
...
In the following weeks, the professors suddenly noticed that a special wooden accessory seemed to be trending at Hogwarts, and almost everyone was wearing one.
It wasn't a magical item, just ordinary pear wood, some round and some square.
There was also a smaller number with gold lacquer and a layer of wax on the surface, looking more exquisite than the others, but still not magical.
Normally, the professors wouldn't have paid much attention to this, as it was just a trendy accessory, something that happened every year, as long as it wasn't dangerous.
But this time was different. Since this accessory became popular, the young wizards seemed to be much more relaxed in class, with a mindset that was hard to beat.
To be honest, the professors weren't sure if this was a good thing or not.
