Chapter 947: Rabbit Hotpot
Chapter 947: Rabbit Hotpot
Coordinating with Gramps wasn’t as seamless as working with Yi Xiao. If it were Yi Xiao, their combined ability could swiftly dispel this Wolf's Spirit Thundercloud. But with Gramps, combat relied more on Haki and swordsmanship than intricate techniques.
Still, it wasn’t bad!
Suddenly, below them, Charlotte·Big Mom gripped her blade with both hands and swung it fiercely, unleashing a triangular shockwave slash. “Viguo!!”
Kuro glanced downward, dodging swiftly to the left and right alongside Lucius Kro. Their forms blurred into afterimages, evading the shockwave’s range in a series of aerial flashes.
Lucius Kro’s evasion was even more direct—his body transformed into a beam of light and vanished. An instant later, he reappeared outside the shockwave’s radius.
“Thunder Roar.”
The sky suddenly erupted in a thunderous boom.
Crackling!
Kuro’s form had barely dodged when a black shadow plummeted from the sky.
His eyes narrowed. Clutching the Yokai Blade, he slashed upward. “Ultimate Mystic Art!”
“Eight Trigrams!!”
Bang!!
A massive Iron Mace crackling with black thunder slammed downward, colliding with the Yokai Blade in a deafening clash.
Kuro clenched his teeth, his body forced downward by the immense force.
Descending from above was Kaido himself, who had transformed from a soaring dragon into his humanoid form mid-fall, wielding the mace with brutal intent!
“Ho-ro-ro-ro-ro! Kuro!!”
Kaido roared with laughter, his arms bulging with blue veins. As the Wolf's Spirit Thundercloud intensified, his lower body transformed into a dragon tail, propelling him forward with relentless force, driving Kuro backward through the air.
“Oh~”
Lucius Kro, about to intervene, suddenly heard a gust of wind. Instinctively, he tightened his grip on the colossal Tsuginokana and swung it sideways.
Clang!!
The blade of light collided with a grotesque muscle cleaver—Napoleon’s monstrous form—in a resounding clash.
“Mamamama, Lucius Kro!!” Charlotte·Big Mom cackled.
“Big Mom, how terrifying! Looks like you’ll have to fight the old man now.”
“You damned monkey! I’ll carve you up!!” Charlotte·Big Mom bellowed.
Meanwhile, Kaido continued his aerial assault, pushing Kuro through the skies in a blur of motion.
“Roar!”
Mid-thrust, Kaido opened his maw, unleashing a torrent of Heat Breath. Kuro’s eyes widened as the searing flames nearly engulfed him.
“Eye Sword!”
Haki-infused Killing Intent surged into his blade, cleaving through the Heat Breath. The flames sputtered into sparks, scattering across his body.
“Rua!!”
With a growl, Kaido swung his Iron Mace, forcing Kuro’s blade aside with sheer power. The impact sent Kuro reeling backward midair.
But as he recoiled, Kaido transformed into an Azure Dragon, claws slashing toward Kuro.
Golden light blazed along the Yokai Blade. Kuro halted his backward momentum, twisting his body mid-air. He lunged forward, evading the claws and closing in beneath Kaido’s dragon form. The Yokai Blade flashed as he slashed into the dragon’s flank.
“Ultimate Mystic Art!!”
A gash tore across Kaido’s scaled body, spraying blood that splattered over Kuro’s head.
“Augh!!” Kaido’s dragon head reared back, emitting a pained roar.
A smirk tugged at Kuro’s lips—but before it could fully form, Kaido’s snarling jaws dove downward, clamping onto Kuro’s body with a bone-rattling bite.
“You bastard!”
Kuro’s eyes widened. While his Haki softened the damage, the humiliating sensation of being gnawed like a nut was infuriating.
Since when did fights devolve to biting?!
Kaido’s razor-sharp teeth ground like a mill crushing iron nuts, shaking Kuro violently in his jaws. Before Kuro could counter, Kaido abruptly opened his maw, blasting him with another Heat Breath, sending him flying downward in a fiery plunge.
Crash!!
Kuro crashed into something, kicking up a cloud of smoke and dust.
Was that—ground?!
…
The terrain below featured jagged stone pillars towering like mountains. Smoke billowed from Weapon Factories perched atop the pillars, while mines sprawled below. Once, prisoners shackled in surrounding chains labored here, digging with pickaxes or straining under heavy boulders.
But now, Beasts Pirates and prisoners had gathered. At the center stood an arena-like platform, where a youth with a Collar, a topknot, and Luffy’s trademark straw hat lay amidst a pile of unconscious bodies.
Above them, on a stage-like structure, sat a rotund man with braids and a cigar, observing the chaos.
Quinn, the Plague—one of the Triad Calamities.
This was Rabbit Hotpot, a district of Wano Country now under the Beasts Pirates’ control as a prison, minefield, and Weapon Factory complex.
After Luffy was defeated by Captain Kaido, he’d been imprisoned here. Months of quiet had passed until today, when he and Eustass Kid staged a prison break.
Both were recaptured.
Quinn had specially outfitted Luffy with a Collar instead of the usual Seastone chains.
This device would unleash razorblades within if Luffy strayed beyond its range, force strong enough to crush iron!
During the sumo wrestling matches, Quinn struggled to contain Luffy, but Kaido had forbidden killing him. Thus, the matches continued, wearing Luffy down through endless battles, breaking his spirit until he’d serve Kaido’s will.
Yet Luffy had won every bout, testing Quinn’s patience.
But no matter—after defeating all True Combatants among the Beasts Pirates, he’d face the Six Crimson Stars, then the Disasters like Quinn himself. Luffy couldn’t possibly win.
That was the plan…
But the recent might from the skies and the pillar of light piercing the heavens had soured Quinn’s mood. Now, with Eustass Kid and the slaughterswordsman Killer captured, he’d decided:
“Originally, stepping off the arena would trigger the Collar’s Explosion… but now I’ve changed my mind.”
Quinn raised a finger, smirking. “Humans, no matter how strong, drown in just five centimeters of water. So here’s my ruling: if you live, Eustass Kid and Killer get The Hanged Man treatment—drowned. Only your death will free them. Luffy, what do you think of this brilliant plan?!”
“Hey!! They’ve got nothing to do with this!” Luffy bellowed.
“Oh-ho?”
Quinn’s eyes gleamed. He hopped forward, arms swinging rhythmically. “I thought the same! But why hesitate now? Because they’re comrades of your era? What a perfect idea!”
He paused, grinning malevolently. “So… what will you do, Luffy?”
“Then I’ll just beat you on this arena myself!!” Luffy roared, stretching his arm into a punch.
Smack.
Quinn’s mechanical left arm swatted the fist aside effortlessly, hurling Luffy backward to crash into the ground.
“Brat, who do you think you’re talking to?!” Quinn scoffed, biting his cigar. “At least call me Quinn Officer… or Big Brother!”
“Your potential’s not bad,” Quinn continued, disdainful. “Join us, train a while, and maybe you’ll fill a spot in the Triad Calamities. But right now? You’re too green!”
“Do you even know who stands before you? I’m Quinn, Senior Commander of the Three Great Disasters, and your—”
His voice suddenly shifted, rising in pitch. He stared upward, stunned.
The crowd followed his gaze, mouths agape at the dragon in the sky.
Its jaws clamped around a figure, Kaido hurled Kuro downward like a missile, slamming him into a Weapon Factory atop a spire-like mountain. Smoke and dust erupted.
