Chapter 941: Join the Skrull Invasion
Chapter 941: Join the Skrull Invasion
The top-level Skrull meeting was still in progress.
In the meeting, Speaker Kusman of the Skrull Parliament pondered, "From what we can see, our current strategy is correct. If we follow Emperor Manina's plan to defend the eight springs in the Americas, we will inevitably be caught off guard by the Blue Planet's feints, repeating today's mistakes."
However, Kusman noticed Manina's glare and quickly added, "Of course, Emperor Manina's plan isn't entirely wrong. By controlling the eight springs, we gain more psychic energy and have more strategic flexibility..."
"Enough, it was my oversight," Manina interrupted, his face expressionless. "When I formulated the strategy, I didn't consider the Blue Planet's feint tactics. Now, I realize that to defend the eight springs at the start of the war, we would need at least four to six times the military force of the Blue Planet. It was my mistake."
Manina wasn't an unreasonable person, at least not in front of the other god-tier beings. Recognizing his error, he apologized straightforwardly.
The other god-tier beings, of course, had no intention of blaming him.
God-tier being Othas spoke up, "Emperor Manina, don't blame yourself. Kusman is right; every strategy has its pros and cons. Our current strategy is to 'secure the Mount Fuji Spring and engage the Blue Planet in a decisive battle there.' I won't elaborate on the advantages, but the downside is that if the Blue Planet learns our plan, they will heavily fortify the Mount Fuji Spring. If their defenses are too strong, we will be at a significant disadvantage."
Kusman chimed in, "Right, and don't forget that Su Yu has a lot of credits. If he uses his credits to exchange for some of the St. Silver Federation's black tech, it could be very detrimental to us."
"Indeed," Othas continued. "So, what we need to do now is figure out how to address this issue. How can we keep our war strategy from being guessed by the Blue Planet?"
"About that..."
As Othas spoke, everyone in the meeting fell into deep thought, and the video call grew silent.
After about half a minute, Manina suddenly had an idea. His eyes lit up, and he said, "What if we do this?"
He paused for a moment, allowing everyone to refocus their attention. Then he continued, "First, we must ensure absolute secrecy, no question about that. Second, we will heavily fortify the eight springs in the Americas, giving the impression that we are determined to hold them. However, we will not focus on the Mount Fuji Spring. This way, the Blue Planet will assume our plan is to defend the eight springs in the Americas and won't pay much attention to the Mount Fuji Spring. Then, we will gradually abandon the eight springs in the Americas, leaving only the Mount Fuji Spring. What do you think?"
"Hmm... I think this plan is feasible," Kusman agreed after a brief consideration.
"I also think it's viable; at least, we should give it a try," Othas said second.
"I agree," Plante stated succinctly.
"I concur as well."
After everyone expressed their agreement, they all approved Manina's idea.
"Then, let's conclude this meeting. If any new issues arise, we can discuss them later."
"Agreed."
"Fine."
The video feeds of the attendees one by one went dark as they left the meeting room. Lanchi, who had hardly spoken throughout the meeting, organized the minutes and was the last to exit.
...
...
The scene shifted back to the Blue Planet.
The Kilimanjaro Spring had been successfully reclaimed, and a group of high-ranking Blue Planet beings entered the spring to handle the aftermath. All Skrull cultivators of the third tier and above had their psychic energy sealed and were taken away by the United Government's military upon their arrival.
Additionally, the base was in excellent condition. When they had captured the North Pole Spring, all critical facilities and defensive weapons inside the base were destroyed by Othas, leaving the Blue Planet with only an empty shell. However, this time, the base commander, Gossi, fled in such a hurry that he didn't have time to destroy the facilities.
Thus, key equipment and advanced defensive weapons, such as antimatter railguns, were well-preserved and could be used immediately. This was a significant boon for the Blue Planet, as these defensive weapons could be used against the Skrulls in the upcoming war.
...
After ensuring there were no threats in the base, Tina and Ailiette returned to Su Yu's side.
Tina had expended a tremendous amount of energy in the recent battle and was now quite exhausted.
Alyssa gripped a spear brimming with sharp energy, having just dispelled the ancestral avatar's enhancement. She, too, was a bit tired.
Kitty Morningstar had shrunk to a smaller size and perched on Alyssa's shoulder, her eyes half-closed in a lazy manner.
Even though Morningstar had successfully ascended to the divine realm, becoming one of the most powerful beings across the three worlds, she couldn't break her habit of lounging on Alyssa's or Su Yu's shoulders or in their laps.
Returning to Su Yu's side, Tina sheathed her golden greatsword and said with a radiant smile, "Kexing, today we reclaimed another spring! The Skrulls are down to just 14 now!
At this rate, it won't take many more days before we reclaim all the springs!"
"Um, Tina..." Su Yu opened his mouth, intending to explain that before the war began, it would be impossible for the humans of Blue Star to reclaim all the springs.
But after some thought, he decided not to explain.
Glancing around, Su Yu released a soundproof barrier that enveloped the three of them and the cat.
Seeing the soundproof barrier Su Yu had cast, Tina, Alyssa, and Morningstar immediately understood that he had something to say.
"Kexing, what is it?" Tina and Alyssa looked at Su Yu with serious expressions.
Kitty Morningstar opened her eyes, twitched her whiskers, and showed a concerned look.
"It's like this," Su Yu explained. "Tomorrow, the next batch of Great Cultivators and players will set off for Skrull. I was thinking, why don't you three join them?"
For at least the next week, Blue Star would temporarily halt its attacks on the giant springs. Many players, Great Cultivators, and even Chancellor Cao and the First Emperor would be heading to Skrull.
Su Yu thought it might be a good idea for Tina and the others to go as well, considering they still had plenty of resurrection chances.
Hearing Su Yu's words, Kitty Morningstar wasn't too surprised; she had already been to Skrull twice.
Tina and Alyssa, however, were taken aback. "We're going too? Why?"
Alyssa's face grew serious. "Do you have some important mission for us?"
Su Yu immediately shook his head. "Important mission? No, nothing like that."
He explained, "I want you three to go for a few reasons. First, you still have plenty of resurrection chances, so you don't need to worry about encountering danger there. Second, I want you to familiarize yourselves with the environment. After all, you are the main force of the enemy rear combat unit, and your primary battlefield will be Skrull when the war starts. Third, you love traveling, don't you? It would be like a trip to explore a new world. A technologically advanced world you've never seen before—doesn't that sound interesting?"
The first two reasons were fine, but when Su Yu mentioned the third, Tina and Alyssa's eyes lit up immediately!
Indeed, they loved traveling and experiencing the local culture and scenery of different places.
A world with advanced technology that they had never visited before was certainly something they wanted to see!
"But..." Tina furrowed her cute brow. "Won't it be a waste of a slot? After all, according to the Hymn's judgment, we can't initiate attacks against the Skrulls."
"It won't be a waste," Su Yu smiled. "Familiarizing yourselves with the environment is important. Besides, if you want to help, you can take the [Golden Gorse Plane Chain] with you.
The Sky Dragon and Snow Leopard will be purchasing a lot of military supplies. If they run out of space, you can help them carry some."
Su Yu took off the [Golden Gorse Plane Chain] from his neck. He had intended to put it directly around Alyssa's neck but, considering Tina was there, he handed the necklace to Alyssa instead.
"Alright," Alyssa carefully accepted the necklace.
She didn't put it on immediately but asked Su Yu, "Kexing, are you going with us? Your tone makes it sound like you don't plan to go to Skrull with us."
"I... I won't go," Su Yu said with a regretful smile. "A trip to Skrull will take at least seven days, and I need more time to cultivate and enhance my realm.
My plan is to reach the peak of the divine realm before the war starts. There are only 78 days left, and I can't afford to waste seven days."
"I see," Alyssa's face showed a hint of disappointment, and Tina's cheerful mood dimmed considerably.
If Su Yu went with them, the three of them and the cat could explore the entire Skrull, making it a wonderful trip!
Without Su Yu, it just didn't feel the same.
"It’s not a problem, though. There will be plenty of opportunities in the future," Su Yu said with a carefree smile. "After the war is over, we’ll have all the time in the world. We can do whatever we want then."
As he said this, Su Yu suddenly felt a strong sense of deja vu.
It was like a parent telling a high school senior who's about to take the college entrance exam, "Don’t think about anything else, just focus on the exam. After the exam, you can do whatever you want."
For the humans of Earth, this war was their "college entrance exam." A good performance could catapult them to new heights, while a poor one would mean total annihilation, with no chance of retaking the test.
The humans now stood at this critical juncture.
...
About an hour later, the Earth United Army, with around 30 large floating troop carriers, entered the Kilimanjaro Psychic Spring.
Due to the war, the psychic energy around the spring was still extremely violent, making it impossible for the troops to enter from the ground.
The venerable Yang Jian used his "Divine Eye" to forcibly create a passage in the sky, allowing the United Army to enter.
After the United Army arrived, there was nothing left for Su Yu and the other cultivators to do at the base.
Su Yu and the other cultivators handed over the base to the army and left the spring, returning to China on supersonic fighters.
During the return trip, they didn’t waste any time. Su Yu put on his helmet and entered the game.
...
Upon entering the game, Su Yu found himself in a dark, purple void.
Beneath his feet was an endless black abyss, and above him was a vast, dark purple energy cloud. Energy storms raged through the void, making it impossible for any cultivator below the fifth rank to survive here.
Currently, the "Evolution" game had launched the "Void Invasion" expansion pack, where a massive void army, controlled by the "Void Empress Belveth," was invading the main game plane.
Su Yu was now in the void. The creatures here generally had a dark purple hue, and the environment matched.
After his body appeared, he scanned the surroundings and used a quick Flash to stand on a dark purple floating rock.
His Starcat, Morning Star, jumped out of his pet space and perched on his shoulder.
Shaking out her fur, Morning Star let out a sigh of relief, "We’re back in our world! It’s so much more comfortable here!"
"Comfortable?" Su Yu thought he had misheard.
He pointed to the bottomless abyss beneath them, where a massive energy vortex threatened to suck everything in.
He remarked, "You call this environment ‘comfortable’?"
"It is pretty comfortable!" Morning Star patted Su Yu’s forehead with her delicate paw.
"In your world, everyone looks so serious and tense. In comparison, the abyss beneath us seems cute! Besides, we’re not going to fall in anyway."
"Cute… fine, whatever you say." Su Yu sounded a bit exasperated.
He didn’t dwell on the issue, reaching into his backpack to pull out a device.
If Tina were here, she would recognize this device immediately.
It was a "Planar Communication Badge," which she had given to Su Yu for communication purposes.
However, if Tina were here, she would also be puzzled, as this badge wasn’t the one she had given him; it was a different color.
Su Yu input three long and one short burst of magic into the badge.
Then he put it away and smiled at Morning Star, "Alright, let’s wait. Sara should be here soon after she receives the message."
"Okay." Morning Star nodded.
She leaped into Su Yu’s arms and closed her eyes, planning to take a nap. By the time she woke up, Sara should be there.
Su Yu sat cross-legged on the floating rock, taking out a book from his backpack and slowly flipping through it.
The book contained ancient high-level spatial spells that he had yet to fully understand.
While waiting for Sara to arrive, he could use this time to study, so it wouldn’t be wasted.
As for why Su Yu and the others were here and waiting for Sara, it all started four months ago in game time.
Four months ago, when Su Yu returned to the game, he began collecting materials to craft an eighth-rank set for himself.
The tailor he had in mind was named "Belveth," the sister of the "Void Empress Belveth."
Being twins, their names were only slightly different.
