Chapter 941: A Sudden Attack
Chapter 941: A Sudden Attack
The illusory Nicolas Flamel could not provide him with guidance, just as Dumbledore had not truly answered the question about the agreement. These were matters beyond their own understanding, and thus, "The Departed" could not give a satisfactory answer, only continually making excuses to evade the issue.
If Ivan were to make up a reason, it would be easily seen through...
Ivan suspected that these Magical Images were essentially just replicas of his memories, a part of his subconscious. The strongest evidence for this was that when he asked questions, the answers he received were always what he subconsciously believed to be the most reasonable and what he most hoped to hear.
Perhaps this was the true horror of the Resurrection Stone: the Magical Images it created were far more alluring than the actual departed souls...
Ivan pondered for a moment, then reinserted the Resurrection Stone into the disk. Although he understood that this artifact could not truly resurrect the dead and only created false illusions, his doubts did not dissipate.
He simply couldn't fathom why Grindelwald would go to such great lengths to obtain the Resurrection Stone.
Could it be that he hadn't grasped its true use?
Ivan couldn't help but think of the Invisibility Cloak Grindelwald possessed. When Harry had it, it was merely a cloak that could hide one's presence, but when Grindelwald wore it, it became something he could control effortlessly.
Could the Resurrection Stone have a second method of use, or did the three Deathly Hallows need to be combined to unleash their full power?
Ivan stroked the Diamond Crystal hanging from his neck, pondering for a while, but found no answers. He finally put the pendant away and left the Common Room, heading to the dining hall for dinner.
However, at that moment, a sharp cry suddenly broke the peace.
Ivan furrowed his brow, not daring to delay. He followed the crowd gathering in one direction, and by the time he arrived, the corridor was already packed with people. Pierce, also alerted, had brought his team to the scene.
"What happened?" Ivan asked, puzzled.
"I'm not sure, but I heard someone was attacked..." Pierce looked ahead, his expression grave.
Delius and the others immediately moved forward, clearing a path for Ivan and Pierce through the crowd.
At the front of the crowd, a towering warlock lay sprawled on the cold floor tiles, showing no signs of injury, but Ivan instantly recognized that he was dead.
It was the Killing Curse...
Ivan narrowed his eyes, most surprised by the fact that the victim was the Russian Minister of Magic he had met earlier that morning.
"Let me go, I didn't do this... Let me go!"
A familiar voice reached Ivan's ears. He turned his head and saw Percy being held down by several Aurors, crying out in panic.
"Percy, what's going on here?" Pierce sensed something was amiss and sternly demanded an answer.
"I don't know... I don't know anything, Minister Pierce, please believe me, I have nothing to do with this... I didn't kill anyone", Percy cried out, seeing Pierce as his savior.
The Russian wizards gathered around, their faces dark. The leader, filled with rage, drew his wand, pointing it at the restrained Percy and demanded, "Is he one of your British wizards, Minister Pierce?"
Pierce glared fiercely at Percy but still explained, "It's true, he is indeed one of Britain's Wizards, but I don't believe Percy could have killed your Minister of Magic. He has no reason to do such a thing, nor the capability. There must be some misunderstanding."
"Misunderstanding? I don't see any misunderstanding! We just used Priori Incantatem to detect the Killing Curse in his wand. Clearly, it was one of your British Wizards who killed our Minister of Magic!" The lead Russian Warlock shouted angrily, ready to lunge at Pierce and grab his collar.
However, Delius and the others didn't let him succeed, forming a wall in front of Pierce. This action only further agitated the Russian Wizards, who drew their wands from their belts.
"Stop it, all of you, stop it!" Just as the conflict was about to erupt, Cornell arrived with a large group of Aurors, accompanied by the President of the North American Congress, Wilkinson.
The Russian Wizards, however, were not appeased and staunchly demanded that Wilkinson give them justice, threatening to repay blood with blood and tooth with tooth.
Seeing the body on the ground, Cornell immediately realized the severity of the situation. "Friends of Imperial Russia, please calm down. We all know the strength of Minister of Magic Igor. I don't think Percy Master has the capability to silently kill him."
"Of course, a fair fight is out of the question, but if there were some underhanded tricks or accomplices, who knows?" The lead Russian Warlock said coldly, then yanked Percy from the ground and threw him in front of the crowd. "The most crucial point is that we detected the use of the Killing Curse in his wand!"
Wilkinson gave a nod to the Aurors beside him, signaling them to re-examine Percy's wand.
The Auror nodded, took the wand from the Russian Warlock, and aimed it at the sky, casting the Priori Incantatem spell.
A deep green light shot out of the wand, causing gasps from the gathered Wizards. The lead Russian Warlock glared angrily at Pierce and the others, demanding, "What do you have to say now?"
"Clearly, someone used the Imperius Curse on him!" Ivan, who had been silent until now, suddenly interjected, then turned to Percy, whose face was filled with fear, and asked solemnly, "How did you get here, Percy?"
Beaten and bruised, Percy understood this was his last chance to clear his name. He stammered out his explanation.
Around six in the evening, he had dinner with a few new friends in the dining hall and then returned to the Common Room. On his way back, he suddenly lost consciousness. When he came to, he found Minister of Magic Igor lying on the ground, possibly dead.
He panicked and rushed to check Igor's condition. Upon realizing Igor was lifeless, he tried to flee but was discovered by a Witch. More people gathered, and the Russian Wizards immediately beat him without a second thought.
