Chapter 94: Luxen Forest

Somewhere in the forest outside Luxen City.

Vivian swung her poleaxe.
"How do I fight with this?"

She made a thrusting attack.
"Seems very limited..."

She jumped and then swung the weapon down, penetrating the blade of the axe a few inches below the ground.
"At least I have a longer range and have more masteries to train, I guess."
Okay…
I'll postpone [Throw Mastery]…
And focus on [Axe], [Hammer] and [Spear Mastery]…
She started with a slow jog as she felt the weight of the poleaxe on her hand and visualized inside her head the attacks she could do before finally bursting out into a run.
In just a few steps, she saw two sunflower monsters. They noticed her and immediately charged.
Vivian stopped.
I wonder if they'll die if I do that…
One of the sunflower monsters entered her attack range.

She thrust her poleaxe and poked the monster in the head with the spear-head. But instead of stopping, the monster continued trying to move forward.
"That was useless."

She whipped her weapon to the left, tearing the monster's flower head open and leaving the top half dangling. But despite all that damage, it continued charging.
Quite persistent…
She then noticed the other sunflower monster about 6ft away from her, so s, so he raised her poleaxe up and then aimed with the axe-head.

She swung her weapon down to the monster in front of her, cutting it in half as the blade dug a few inches into the ground. She quickly pulled her weapon back and then turned to the other monster.

The monster let out its orange gas attack as Vivian took a few steps back and then held her weapon as if it were a baseball bat.
Poof! Braaak!
The hammer head of her weapon struck the monster’s head, causing it to burst into a cloud of orange dust and green leaves, and then it struck a tree nearby.
Vivian got into a relaxed stance and then stared at her weapon with a dark expression.
"This weapon is ugly!"
She massaged her temples.
"Ugh…! Why did I choose this…?!"
She stopped massaging her temples and returned her gaze to her weapon.
No use in crying over spilled milk…
Just have to endure this useless weapon for now…
Vooom!
She resumed running around to search for more enemies.
After a couple of steps, she saw a group of tiny jumping mushrooms. She stopped but they already noticed her and charged.
Hmm…
Thrusting is out of the question…
And if I use the hammer…
Swinging to the side will only throw them away while smashing them will only hit one…
I also can’t hammer them one by one…

She got into a fighting stance as she tightened her grip around her weapon and positioned the axe blade.
The tiny jumping mushrooms finally entered her attack range.

She swung her poleaxe like a scythe using the axe-head and sliced 3 mushrooms.

She twisted her weapon and swung once again, killing 2 mushrooms this time.
Whooosh!
This time around, she only managed to slice 1 mushroom and the remaining mushrooms got closer.

Two jumped and struck her with their head. But although they both landed a hit on her body, it was on her vest and longsleeve.
Pah!
She kicked one mushroom away before jumping a couple of feet away.
Tch!
She clicked her tongue.
Even with my increased STR and AGI...
I still can’t fight momentum…
Meanwhile, if I keep doing spinning attacks, I’ll only end up feeling dizzy…
And once the enemy gets close…
She glanced at her weapon.
This weapon becomes useless…!

She burst out into a run once again to search for more enemies.

Vivian stopped and then turned to the direction of where the sound was coming from. When she spotted the Bukaroo, instead of charging, she waited for it to come to her.

All of a sudden, a fox came out jumping from the bushes.
Whooosh!
With Vivian's increased AGI and INT, when her mind went overdrive, the world appeared to move slowly.
She took a step back and then swung her poleaxe using the blade axe, cutting the animal into two pieces in mid-air before returning her gaze back to the Bukaroo.
It was already a few inches close to her attack range.
Whooosh!
She twisted her weapon and delivered an upward diagonal swing, cutting the bird in half in mid-air as well.
Pah!
She facepalmed.
"Stupid!
"Why didn't I poke it?!
"Seriously, this weapon is confusing!
"There's the axe! There's the spear! There's the hammer!
"My God!
"Really confusing!
"And yet it can't even do anything about close range!
"Very useless!"
She let out a sigh.
I wonder if I can change this weapon…
The image of the bardiche she saw at the shop flashed inside her head.
I really should've chosen that weapon…
Vooom!
She burst out into a run once again.

Vivian's lips curled up into a smile as she was running.
Up ahead there was a Treebark.
Wooom!
Once she reached a couple of feet away from the monster, she jumped up in the air and raised her weapon above her shoulders. By the time the monster finally noticed her, Vivian was already on a downward trajectory with the hammer-head of her weapon pointing at it.
BRAAAK!
The monster's body shattered into pieces like a vase.
Vivian got up and inspected her weapon.
Well...
At least it's fun smashing things…
But I think it would be much fun if the hammer was bigger…
Although her poleaxe was 6ft long, the hammer was only as large as a 10-year-old's fist. And as for the rest of its heads, the blade of the axe was only about 5 inches long, while the blade of the spear was only 4 inches long.
I really want to go back and buy another weapon…
Either that bardiche or a giant hammer…

Vivian did a double-spinning attack, holding the end of the poleaxe with one hand and turning her whole body around.

Unless I have a full-plate armor…
But I’ll still feel dizzy…
She pulled back her weapon and rested it on her shoulder.
Either way...
I have to enter that Ranking Match and win that set of armor…
An image of Marie looming over her and holding the blade of a sword against her neck flashed inside her head.
I'm going to kill that bitch...!

She burst out into a run to search for more enemies.
