Chapter 94: Lanchi is a Truly Diligent Student
Chapter 94: Lanchi is a Truly Diligent Student
The morning sun bathed the majestic campus of the Ikelite Academy in a warm glow as its rays shone upon the royal capital. It promised to be yet another day filled with hope.
On the balcony of the first floor of the Sages' Residence, vibrant green vines crawled along the wooden railing, their leaves shimmering with vibrant life. An array of elegant potted plants adorned the railing, adding to the serene beauty of the garden.
The air was filled with the scent of fresh soil and blooming flowers, while a chorus of birds chirped merrily on the wooden balcony, occasionally flitting over to the stone bricks nearby to sing with exuberance, as if celebrating the start of a new day.
The two-week holiday had passed in a flash.
Today, Lanchi would finally resume his regular classes at the Sage's College.
Even waking up in the morning felt a tad more challenging than usual.
During the break, Lanchi had mostly shuttled between his dormitory and Thalia's home.
Every morning, under Thalia's strict supervision, he would undergo intense card-making training for half a day.
When he was at Thalia's house, the frequency of his card explosions decreased significantly.
It was only later, when he thought he had ruined another card and despaired, that he realized Thalia had already set up a protective barrier in advance.
She had only pretended to be scared to push him into a state of immersion.
Similarly, Thalia had instructed Lanchi to focus on seal-type magic cards in his card-making practice upon his return, and to choose seal-type magic as his subject for the Registered Card Maker exam.
While she wasn't particularly adept at seal magic herself, she encouraged Lanchi to delve deeper into its intricacies through his own research.
As for the "Hairstyle Transformation Magic," she had already begun deciphering the principles behind the original "Magic Beast Hair Processing Magic" and promised to share her insights with him once she made progress.
However, this magic, originating from the Fourth-Rank Shadow World, would still produce a Fourth-Rank product even if he managed to create a fully effective card, which was beyond Lanchi's current capabilities.
Thus, Lanchi purchased a set of protective barriers and installed them in his makeshift card-making laboratory, converted from his dormitory's storage room.
Every afternoon, he diligently studied seal magic and even invented a new type of magic card, while his evenings were spent resting and practicing running.
Thalia had advised him to excel in both sprinting and endurance running, or else he would easily be caught and killed.
Although Lanchi didn't understand why someone as amicable as him would be chased, he trusted Thalia's teachings implicitly.
After all, he had completely embraced the demons' unique teaching methods.
Through his diligent research and inquiries at the academy, Lanchi discovered that proficient users of seal magic were few and far between due to its extremely complex principles and significant limitations.
For seal magic to be highly effective, it required a high-rank caster to use it against a lower-rank opponent, or it could only inflict weak or temporary seals on an opponent of the same rank.
Deviating from this principle would demand an extremely high price, even sacrificing one's life, to seal an opponent.
"To create a seal that ignores rank, I must first start with smaller-scale sealing functions," Lanchi mused to himself as he fed the birds on the balcony, still deep in thought about seal magic even though he was fully awake.
Big Love Poet, quietly watering the flowers nearby, glanced at him.
She was occasionally allowed out by Lanchi to assist him in his card-making endeavors and had thus gained some knowledge about seal magic.
Sealing an opponent of lower rank held little significance, and to seal magic cards or even an entire person regardless of their rank would likely require an epic-level card to accomplish.
It wasn't something Lanchi could accomplish on his own in a short time.
However, the thought of Lanchi mastering sealing magic in the future and excluding an enemy's crucial magic card mid-battle was indeed a way to wipe the smile off an enemy's face.
"Keep at it, Lanchi. You must become a super ex-Saint."
Big Love Poet finally finished watering the flowers and patted Lanchi's shoulder as she blessed him.
"......?"
Lanchi stared at her, perplexed.
Big Love Poet smiled, shook her head, and the orange glow scattered and returned to her body.
On the balcony filled with the scent of birds and flowers, Lanchi tilted his head, confused.
...
After a simple grooming, Lanchi left the dormitory building and headed towards the familiar school building.
A truly diligent student must not miss any class without a valid reason. This is a sign of respect for the teachers and a positive role model for others.
In the heart of the Sage's College area stood a three-story stone teaching building. Its dark exterior had a classical limestone hue, and the stone pillars, arched windows, intricate stone carvings, and meticulously polished wrought iron railings all bore the marks of Victorian style.
The corridors were filled with an academic atmosphere, as if one could hear the whispers of the sages.
Along the familiar route, Lanchi had just entered the classroom when he heard his classmates chatting.
"I don't know which dorm in our college is under renovation, but we always hear explosions in the afternoon."
"It's strange because prohibited items are not allowed in the dorms."
"The dormitory manager seems a bit scared. Recently, he went to the school to apply for the purchase of additional fire protection equipment."
Noticing Lanchi's arrival, their gazes immediately shifted to him.
Their eyes held neither admiration nor fear but something in between, as if they had discovered a new rare species called "Lanchi."
Lanchi nonchalantly made his way through the tiered roads and naturally took his usual seat at the back of the classroom.
Just sitting down and taking in the view before him, he couldn't help but sigh—two weeks ago, in that dreamlike academy, he had woken up in a similar position.
No cheating student in the front row could escape his eagle-eyed justice.
Then, Lanchi shook his head, realizing that he had returned to hell, and this was Ikelite Academy.
"Good morning, Hyperion," Lanchi said, turning to smile at Hyperion.
"Good morning," Hyperion replied calmly this time.
During the days they hadn't seen each other, Hyperion had been coming to class diligently every day, still alone as before.
Now that Lanchi was back, she finally had a companion.
"How have you been these days?" Hyperion asked, looking at him.
She felt that Lanchi had been busy, so she hadn't looked for him.
"Fulfilling and real," Lanchi laughed.
Not only had he immersed himself in card-making practice every day, but he had also been visited by classmates from time to time, giving him a sense of a vibrant campus life.
"Lanchi, have you turned down invitations from many teams?" Hyperion asked with some guilt.
She had already heard about it.
Several teams had approached Lanchi, hoping that he would join their team, and they had offered him generous terms.
But Lanchi had refused them all.
She knew it was because of her.
