Chapter 94: Battle of the Crouching Dragon and the Fledgling Phoenix
Chapter 94: Battle of the Crouching Dragon and the Fledgling Phoenix
"Steel Kid vs. Izumo Atsuki, fight!" Mu Yue announced the names of the first pair of students for the battle.
Hearing that they would be facing each other in the first round, Steel Kid and Izumo couldn't help but sigh at their unfortunate luck, lamenting the fact that they had to fight each other so early on.
"Kid, I thought today would be the day we both make a name for ourselves. Truly, heaven is jealous of talent," Izumo sighed.
He never expected that he and Steel Kid would have such bad luck, meeting in the very first round.
"Yeah," Steel Kid nodded sorrowfully in agreement.
If they hadn't been paired against each other, with their perfected Confusion Technique, they might have made it to the final battle and created a legendary story.
"Izumo, the perfected Confusion Technique is extremely powerful. Since we are brothers fighting each other, how about we forbid the use of this technique?" Steel Kid suggested.
Izumo thought about it for a moment and then smiled, nodding in agreement. "That's a great idea."
"You two, stop with the theatrics and get into the battle area already. Don't waste time," Anko said, exasperated by their display.
Ignoring Anko, who clearly lacked a sense of ceremony, the two made their way to the battle ground and got into position.
"Begin!" Mu Yue shouted as she saw that they were ready.
Hearing Mu Yue's signal, the two immediately rushed towards each other, engaging in close-quarters combat.
However, with their similar skill levels, having been taught by the same teacher, and their long history together, the fight was evenly matched and intense.
Steel Kid threw a right hook, and Izumo countered with his own right punch. Steel Kid followed up with an elbow strike, which Izumo matched with an identical move. The two traded blows for two minutes without either gaining the upper hand.
"It's about time," Steel Kid thought to himself.
"Although we are brothers, the world of ninjas is cruel. I will inherit your will, Izumo, and continue on the path to victory," Steel Kid prepared to use the Confusion Technique, his heart heavy with guilt.
"Steel, I'm sorry, but I am a ninja," Izumo said with a smile as he swiftly formed hand seals, also preparing to use the Confusion Technique!
Of course, he wasn't going to hold back on using the jutsu he had painstakingly practiced. He had only agreed to Steel Kid's suggestion to catch him off guard.
"You conniving brat!" Steel Kid's guilt instantly vanished, realizing that Izumo was even more deceitful than he was.
As Izumo finished forming his hand seals, four scantily-clad, voluptuous female clones that resembled him appeared on the field.
Even though Steel Kid had witnessed this jutsu many times before, he still subconsciously slowed down his hand seals, his gaze unconsciously drifting towards the majestic mountain ranges that had appeared.
It wasn't just Steel Kid; even many of the spectating students were drawn to the massive attractions, their eyes glued to the spectacular mountains.
Mu Yue paused for a second, recognizing the jutsu as the one Naruto had developed—the Sexy Technique. She wondered why it had appeared earlier than expected, and she suspected that Butterfly might have had something to do with it, as the wind he blew seemed a little mischievous.
Taking advantage of Steel Kid's dazed state, Izumo delivered a swift kick that sent him tumbling to the ground.
The attacked snapped Steel Kid back to his senses, and he realized how terrifying the jutsu truly was, as even someone with a firm resolve like himself had fallen for it.
Regaining his wits, Steel Kid quickly created distance between them, running while forming hand seals to unleash his own jutsu.
As Steel Kid released his technique, four different yet equally scantily-clad female clones appeared on the field.
Seeing the sudden appearance of these alluring figures, Izumo's pursuit slowed, and Steel Kid seized the opportunity to counter-attack.
"These two idiots, how could these kinds of clones be useful? They look so weak," Anko thought, feeling that Steel Kid and Izumo were messing around with their modifications.
The fight on the empty ground was fierce, but the spectators were thoroughly entertained. In the end, Izumo barely managed to edge out a victory, winning the first battle.
Hearing the conversation between the two, the students below began to discuss.
"Ebizo, isn't he the only senior who advanced last week? He actually took the lead in developing this kind of ninjutsu." Some students found it hard to believe.
In the last strength test, Ebizo was the only one who advanced to Class A, so he was quite well-known in Group C.
"That's him. I know him, he's in the same class as me, we're both in Class 6 of Grade 4," said a classmate of Ebizo's, nodding.
"To be honest, this technique might actually be quite practical. Could he be a genius?" someone analyzed seriously.
Regardless, Ebizo had become quite famous in Group C.
However, Kamitsuki Izumo only felt smug once, as his opponent for the second round was Uzuki Yuugan.
Kamitsuki Izumo's clone, Uzuki Yuugan, didn't even glance at him and chased after him to fight. Kamitsuki Izumo was no match and lost quickly.
"Damn, I almost forgot about the female students!" Kamitsuki Izumo realized that the Confusion Technique still had its drawbacks.
"Izumo, this is the consequence of backstabbing your brother!" Steel Kid laughed loudly.
...
Group A was also undergoing the practical combat test.
"No. 1 Uchiha Shisui versus No. 2 Yuuhi Kurenai."
"So my first battle is against her..." Yuuhi Kurenai paused slightly when she heard her name.
She had only known Shisui for about ten days, but he had already left a deep impression on her. A senior in her squad had been easily defeated by him, and as a first-year student, he had topped the strength test.
"Just do your best, Red," Asuma said comfortingly.
"Be careful of his speed, he's very fast," Bunpuku Reido warned.
He had lost to Shisui because he had underestimated his speed.
Yuuhi Kurenai nodded and calmed herself as she walked towards the empty ground, her eyes full of determination.
"Begin!"
When she actually fought Shisui, Yuuhi Kurenai knew that Bunpuku Reido's loss was not unjust.
She was completely overwhelmed in taijutsu and ninjutsu and barely had any chance to fight back. She was already doing her best just to defend against Shisui's attacks.
In the end, Yuuhi Kurenai couldn't hold off Shisui's offense and quickly lost the battle.
"Uchiha Shisui wins," Mu Yue announced the result of the battle.
He had used Appraisal to see Yuuhi Kurenai's potential, which was quite good, an A.
However, Yuuhi Kurenai's talent lay in genjutsu, and the genjutsu of the Fire Shadow was quite embarrassing. Aside from the Mangekyo Sharingan, there were basically no usable techniques.
"It's alright, Reido lost to him too. That guy's a genius," Asuma said comfortingly.
The person who was brought into the conversation glared at Asuma unhappily. Comforting someone by stabbing their heart, huh?
"No. 17 Uchiha Obito versus No. 18 Maito Gai."
