Chapter 932: We Are Wizards, Masters of Magic!
Chapter 932: We Are Wizards, Masters of Magic!
As Cornell spoke, Ivan didn’t know what to say. The combined forces of North America and the International Wizards' Union could mobilize over a thousand Wizards, and they were an official authority. Yet, they had repeatedly failed against Grindelwald, unable to gather any significant intelligence. This was truly pathetic.
Seemingly perceiving Ivan’s thoughts, Cornell quickly explained, "Of course, we haven’t been entirely fruitless… One of the informants the International Union sent to France managed to obtain a crucial memory."
"Do you have a Pensieve? I think you should see this…" Cornell pulled out a small glass bottle from his Wizard Robes and spoke with unusual seriousness.
"I don’t need a Pensieve, just give it to me." Ivan reached out, took the glass bottle, and casually unscrewed the cap, allowing a wisp of milky white mist to drift out.
"Memory Recall…" Ivan drew his wand and waved it, and the milky white mist exploded, scattering into countless tiny Lumos in all directions. The spacious office was transformed into a solemn and grand Great Hall within seconds.
Ivan looked around and saw that the hall was packed with Wizards, roughly four or five hundred in number. Strangely, these people were either dressed in expensive Pureblood attire or looked gaunt and poor.
These two distinctly different groups were now gathered in the Great Hall, their expressions ranging from worry to excitement, as if they were waiting for something…
Based on Cornell’s earlier hint, Ivan could guess they were waiting for Grindelwald…
"Grindelwald’s followers have grown to such a scale?" Ivan turned to Cornell, asking in surprise.
"No, according to our investigation, many of them were deceived into coming here", Cornell shook his head.
"Even if only half of them follow Grindelwald, that’s still too many!" Ivan glanced at Cornell with evident dissatisfaction, adding sarcastically, "I’m curious, how did he manage to build such a vast following despite your efforts to stop him?"
Cornell’s expression was awkward. In fact, there was an even worse piece of news he hadn’t shared yet—after this gathering, many of the Wizards present changed their stance…
As they were talking, a deep blue flame suddenly appeared on the stage. Moments later, a figure in black robes emerged from the flames.
It was Gellert Grindelwald. He walked to the front of the stage, spread his arms, and greeted them warmly, "My brothers, sisters, and friends, thank you for taking the time to attend my gathering!"
The solemn Great Hall erupted in enthusiastic applause. Ivan surveyed the crowd, noting the intense excitement of the onlookers. However, he also noticed that some Wizards at the periphery looked uneasy, their faces showing doubt and fear.
One warlock shouted in panic, "Who are you? This was supposed to be the Mars Broomstick Team’s meet-up!"
"No, I received an invitation from the Hippie Band…" another witch screeched.
More and more people realized they had been deceived, and those who did immediately tried to leave.
But Grindelwald casually waved his wand, and the doors and windows of the Great Hall slammed shut.
An invisible protective barrier rose around the area, and the Wizards who had been trying to escape discovered they couldn't Apparate. They immediately looked at Grindelwald on the stage with fear and uncertainty.
"It seems that some of you still do not understand the purpose of this gathering, or perhaps you harbor doubts. I kindly ask you to be patient and not to fear. No one here will harm you. After you hear my words, you will all be free to leave as you please", Grindelwald said calmly.
The Wizards in attendance were skeptical, but with their escape routes cut off and surrounded by a large number of fanatical Death Eaters, they had no choice but to remain silent. Only one Wizard standing near the front mustered the courage to speak up. "Who are you?"
Grindelwald's lips curled into a smile as he looked at the man. "I believe you may have heard my name through newspapers or other channels—Gellert Grindelwald!"
"The Dark Lord who sparked the Wizarding War?" someone in the crowd gasped, and the solemn Great Hall erupted into a small-scale chaos.
But soon, a hostage questioned Grindelwald's words. "That's impossible. Grindelwald was a Wizard from the last century, and he must be over a hundred years old by now. I saw his photo in the European Times, and he looked..."
"Like a withered, dying old man, right?" Grindelwald interrupted, continuing. "So, what you have seen in the past may not be the truth. It could just as easily be a carefully crafted lie, like those baseless rumors!"
"I have read that European Times as well. It calls me a murderer, a Dark Lord, and attributes countless crimes to me—naturally, as the victors of the last Wizarding War, they have the right to fabricate whatever they want about the defeated..."
"But today, I stand here to hold this gathering not to defend myself against those baseless slanders. I only wish to clarify one point: fifty years ago, what I did was simply to secure a future for the Wizard community—for all of us!"
Grindelwald's magnetic voice echoed through the Great Hall, as if it had a magical quality that reverberated in the minds of everyone below.
"Friends, we all share the same identity—that of Wizards! We are a group of people who wield the miracles of Magic and possess extraordinary abilities!"
"With just a wave of our wands, we can perform Material Conversion, altering the world to follow our Will—this is the gift and right bestowed upon us by the heavens!"
"Yet, despite possessing such miracles, we spend our days toiling over trivial matters, forced to hide in the corners of this world. We confine ourselves in prisons called the Wizarding World, even giving up our right to freely Cast spells..."
The Wizards in the hall whispered and murmured to each other, while Grindelwald continued.
"Some might say this is to protect Muggles, yes, such a noble reason. We all know the Wizarding World has a law called the Muggle Protection Act. But perhaps those who created these laws have forgotten why our ancestors built this exclusive haven for Wizards..."
