In reality, Yue Er was all talk, and after Lu HaiKong dismounted, she didn't actually make things difficult for him.
This girl was like an inquisitive child, bombarding Lu HaiKong with all sorts of questions. Asking questions was fine, but the problem was that her inquiries were so peculiar and varied, ranging from the mundane to the bizarre, that she left Lu HaiKong feeling thoroughly exhausted.
Fortunately, Yue Er didn't stay long, and after an hour or so, she departed with her cavalry.
In their two brief encounters, each time was a sudden, unexpected meeting, and the partings were equally abrupt and straightforward, without any unnecessary delay. Yet, in these short moments, Yue Er had managed to leave a lasting impression on Lu HaiKong, offering him different insights and assistance each time.
As Lu HaiKong watched Yue Er depart, leaving behind the unfortunate Chen Ergou and his loot, he felt a sudden urge to meet her again.
Chen Ergou didn't have much to offer, and in fact, he was the bandit chief with the least loot that Lu HaiKong had encountered. There were only two items, one of which was a 'Recruitment Token' with the words 'Elite Bandit Archers' written on it. Upon seeing this, Lu HaiKong's eyes lit up.
The purpose of this item was to recruit the type of archers he had seen earlier. All he needed to do was place it in the Camp Barracks, although he wasn't sure about the specific recruitment process until he established his own fortified camp.
Although he didn't know its exact function, the attributes of the archers he had seen earlier were enough to convince Lu HaiKong that this was a priceless treasure. He happily took possession of it.
The second item Chen Ergou dropped was a secret manual, an advanced inner strength manual with the title 'Blood Qi Decision' boldly written on its cover.
It was clear at a glance that this was a valuable item, and Lu HaiKong had just taken the opportunity to ask Yue Er about how to break through the Strength level of 60. She generously shared her knowledge, explaining that the solution was simple: either reach level 20 in 'Fundamental Inner Strength' or switch to an advanced inner strength manual and reach level 5.
Even without knowing the specific effects of 'Blood Qi Decision', its value was evident in its ability to help break through Strength level 60, surpassing that of the 'Recruitment Token'.
"This girl is great, but she's a bit too fiercely." Lu HaiKong examined the two items in his hands, glanced in the direction where Yue Er had departed, shook his head, and walked away.
Initially, Lu HaiKong had planned to establish his fortified camp at the entrance of the basin, near Chen Ergou's camp. However, Yue Er's interruption made him reconsider.
It wasn't that Lu HaiKong was afraid of Yue Er and wanted to abandon the basin; instead, he decided to set up his camp right in the middle of it.
He had originally thought that Chen Ergou's camp was too obstructive, hindering his movements. But upon further reflection, he realized that this camp could serve as a natural barrier.
After all, the camp provided by the system was non-aggressive and posed no threat to Lu HaiKong's interests or territory. Instead, it could help protect him from external threats and even provide opportunities to capture enemies with Strength levels above 60 and persuade them to surrender.
With this in mind, he decided to keep the camp for the time being.
So, after returning to meet up with Wang Fat and the others, Lu HaiKong led his team into the basin and established his camp right in the center, next to a small river.
The process of establishing a bandit camp was straightforward. Lu HaiKong, feeling a surge of excitement, took out the Rally Token and chose to use it. The system then prompted him to select a location for the camp, and right before his eyes, four structures materialized out of thin air.
"Congratulations on successfully establishing a bandit camp and becoming the unscrupulous Chief Bandit! Lord Mode has been activated!"
"Congratulations on constructing the Assembly Hall, Camp Kitchen, Camp Barracks, and Camp Training Ground. You have successfully established a small-scale bandit camp. Please name your camp."
These four structures were the standard set provided by the Rally Token for a small-sized bandit camp, and they were the four most familiar buildings to Lu HaiKong. However, now that he had established his own camp, these buildings displayed their attributes clearly before him.
Assembly Hall (Level 1)
Description: The heart of the bandit camp. If breached, the camp will fall.
Defense: 100
Function: Increases the Inner Strength cultivation speed of the Chief Bandit by 5% and that of ordinary bandits by 3%.
(Upgradable)
Camp Kitchen (Level 1)
Function:
Operating Hours: 4 hours
Capacity: 100 people
(Upgradable)
Camp Barracks (Level 1)
Description: Living quarters and recruitment center for ordinary bandits.
Function: Accommodates 100 people for rest and recruitment.
(Upgradable)
Camp Training Ground (Level 1)
Description: Training grounds for bandits.
Function: Increases the martial skill cultivation speed of bandits by 3%.
(Upgradable)
The attributes of these four structures were straightforward. Lu HaiKong quickly scanned them and placed the Recruitment Token in the Camp Barracks, selecting the option to recruit bandits. A new page appeared.
Recruitable Units (2)
Bandits
Recruitment Cost: 100 copper coins per person (20 recruits per day)
Elite Bandit Archers
Recruitment Cost: 10 gold per person (1 recruit per day)
Lu HaiKong couldn't help but frown at the limited options. Not only were there only two types of units to choose from, but the recruitment limits were also unsatisfactory. The Elite Bandit Archers were not only expensive but also restricted to one recruit per day. How could Lu HaiKong ever amass a full unit of archers at this rate?
He decided to upgrade the Camp Barracks immediately, and the system displayed the requirements for Level 2: 50 gold.
50 gold? That was nothing to the wealthy Lu HaiKong! He chose to upgrade all four buildings at once.
After all, it was only 50 gold per building, and upgrading all four would cost just 200 gold in total. Money was no issue for Lu HaiKong.
Without hesitation, he upgraded all four buildings to Level 5. Now, he could see the improved attributes of the structures, and he was particularly pleased with the recruitment rates.
The recruitment limit for Elite Bandit Archers had increased from one to twenty per day, and the ordinary bandits from twenty to two hundred per day.
Lu HaiKong immediately recruited twenty Elite Bandit Archers. As he was about to consider further upgrades, Wang Fat approached him with a grim expression. Lu HaiKong had just casually spent 5000 gold, half of their wealth, in an instant...
