Chapter 925: Manipulating the Weather
Chapter 925: Manipulating the Weather
Under the temptation of ten thousand Galleons, Ollivander readily agreed, though he felt a bit disappointed. He wouldn't be able to boast about Britain's prodigious wizard, Ivan Hals, begging him to craft a wand.
"By the way, what's this potion?" Ollivander looked at the vial on the table, curiosity piqued.
He considered himself fairly knowledgeable about potions but couldn't identify what Ivan had brought out. He knew it must be valuable, though.
"It's a potion that can extend your life by a few years", Ivan said straightforwardly.
Ollivander's expression changed. Considering Ivan's earlier words, he momentarily thought it might be something to erase his memory, making him forget about crafting a new wand.
"Don't overthink it. It's literally an elixir to extend your lifespan... You should have heard of it—Elixir of Eternal Youth!" Ivan, of course, noticed Ollivander's concerns and shook his head in exasperation. Did he really look like someone who would burn his bridges?
"The elixir made by Nicolas Flamel using the Philosopher's Stone? How do you have it?" Ollivander, taken aback, carefully examined the vial in his hand.
"Coincidentally, the person standing before you is Nicolas Flamel's disciple", Ivan shrugged, answering with ease.
"No wonder your alchemy skills are so high..." Ollivander nodded in understanding, quickly tucking the vial into his sleeve to prevent any second thoughts.
Ivan observed Ollivander's actions and couldn't help but chuckle. While the Elixir of Eternal Youth was precious, it wasn't much to him. He had brought it out to cultivate a good relationship with the British wand master, and also to compensate for the wand-making techniques he had learned from Ollivander over the past few days.
...
A few days passed quickly. After returning from Ollivanders Wand Shop, Ivan soon immersed himself in familiarizing himself with the new wand and his new abilities.
The weather in London changed with Ivan's moods, often resulting in storms and thunderstorms, leaving Britain's meteorologists thoroughly baffled.
Before they knew it, August had passed. A few days before the start of the school year, Hermione received her usual school notice, and Ivan also received a letter of appointment from Hogwarts.
"Great, I knew you'd be chosen!" Hermione exclaimed joyfully, meaning she wouldn't have to be apart from Ivan for a whole year.
Ivan smiled and put away the appointment letter without telling the young witch that his position as a professor was predetermined, not selected.
However, to celebrate his new role, the Granger family threw a small party for him.
On September 1st, Ivan packed his bags and headed to King's Cross Station with Hermione.
Before leaving, Will Granger and his wife bid them farewell.
"Be careful on your way, Hermione, Hals. Do you need me to drive you two?" Will Granger asked, then suddenly remembered his car was still at home.
"No, we wizards usually have faster methods!" Ivan declined, taking Hermione's hand with ease.
"Then we'll be on our way, Master, Madam!"
Ivan bid his farewell and gently waved his wand. With a ripple in the air, the two of them vanished from the manor.
At the same time, in a small alley beside King's Cross Station in London, their figures reappeared quietly.
"You were too careless, Ivan. We're so close to the station. What if a Muggle happened to see us?" Hermione glanced around, relieved to find no one nearby.
"Don't worry, that's not likely to happen..." Ivan replied casually, knowing he could always use the Confundus Charm or Memory Charm if necessary.
Due to their late arrival, the station wasn't too crowded. When they reached Platform Nine and Three-Quarters, they saw Harry and Ron just about to pass through to the Wizarding Station.
"Ivan, Hermione!" Ginny, who had keen eyes, spotted them first and waved.
George and Fred, standing nearby, bowed comically and teased, "Good morning, Professor Hals!"
"Thank your lucky stars you graduated early, or I would have helped Filch catch you this year..." Ivan said with a stern face, though he was only putting on an act.
"Yeah, it's a shame. You probably wouldn't have found the chance..." Fred laughed.
"But Ron still has two years left at school. You could always give him a hard time!" George nudged, urging him on.
Ron glared at the twins, indignant at the idea of them setting him up.
"Great job, Hals. Congratulations on becoming a Professor. When I heard about it at the Ministry of Magic, I thought they were joking." Arthur Weasley approached and patted Ivan on the shoulder.
"I have to thank Minister Pierce for giving me this opportunity to prove myself..." Ivan said humbly.
"Should we call you Professor Hals from now on?" Harry asked, a bit awkward. They were classmates last year, and it felt strange to address him as a professor now.
"Just call me Professor in class. We're still friends outside of it", Ivan smiled.
As they were chatting, Mrs. Weasley began to urge them to hurry. It was getting late, and they might miss the train if they didn't board soon.
Under Mrs. Weasley's urging, Ivan, Harry, Ron, and Hermione passed through Platform Nine and Three-Quarters and boarded the Hogwarts Express.
As the train chugged along, Ivan listened to Harry and Ron recount the fun they had during the summer at The Burrow and Black Family Manor.
"Sirius Black had planned to take us to a Quidditch match in Britain, but the weather has been terrible. It's been raining every day, and there was a storm for two whole days. The match was canceled", Harry complained.
Ivan looked out the window, his gaze fixed on the thick clouds in the sky. He realized that his recent experiments had caused quite a bit of trouble.
"Indeed, it's time for the clouds to clear!" Ivan said softly.
As Ivan spoke, a brilliant ray of sunlight pierced through the thick clouds, casting a warm glow on the ground. The clouds began to dissipate, much like melting snow in early spring...
