Chapter 924: Snape's Plan, Unconscious Conna
Chapter 924: Snape's Plan, Unconscious Conna
Kyle was perplexed by Snape's actions. Why did he have to personally join the attack on Hogwarts? Was he taking himself as a Death Eater?
Kyle made his way back to the Great Hall from the Astronomy Tower.
Voldemort seemed to have struck again, shattering the largest barrier protecting Hogwarts, leaving stone statues and armor scattered on the ground, devoid of any trace of magic.
Hordes of Death Eaters flooded into the castle, overcrowding the staircases and entrance hall.
Professor Flitwick was dueling with a blonde Death Eater, sparks flying between them, while Mr. Weasley was engaged in a battle with a masked Death Eater nearby.
Despite the mask, the Death Eater's bulky build and clumsy movements made it evident that he was none other than the elderly Death Eater, Grawp.
Several graduates were assisting in the fight, and Oliver Wood managed to stun Mr. Weasley's opponent, aiding in his victory.
Grawp's massive body slammed to the ground, shattering the Gryffindor hourglass nearby, scattering its ruby sand everywhere.
Kyle waved his wand, causing the ruby sand to transform into dagger-like shapes and fly in a specific direction.
A gray figure had just jumped down from the stairs when these ruby daggers impaled them, turning them into a porcupine-like state.
Three daggers simultaneously pierced the werewolf's throat, leaving them motionless on the ground without even a struggle.
Another werewolf jumped down, seeing their companion lying in a pool of blood, they sighed in relief.
They had intended to leave, but upon seeing the ruby daggers floating again, they began to howl and wave their arms, seemingly trying to communicate something.
"Lupin?" Kyle asked, observing their frantic gestures.
Lupin nodded in agreement.
"Sorry," Kyle said, "Werewolves tend to look similar in their transformed state, and I had trouble distinguishing."
Lupin shook his head, indicating that Kyle shouldn't worry.
To be honest, when Kyle saw the daggers flying, he was startled, fearing he might accidentally harm Lupin as well.
It was a full moon that night, the time when werewolves were at their strongest. That werewolf had fought him for over ten minutes, but within seconds of encountering Kyle, they would have had little time to explain.
Lupin now only wanted to leave the castle as soon as possible.
"Wait, Lupin," Kyle called out as Lupin was about to depart. "Can you locate Sirius right now?"
Kyle had just realized that Lupin, in his werewolf state, had heightened senses, making him ideal for finding people.
Indeed, Lupin sniffed around and pointed in a specific direction, seemingly towards the Quidditch pitch.
Lupin howled a couple of times, attempting to convey something, but whether it was due to werewolves not being considered magical creatures or some other reason, Kyle couldn't understand.
Nonetheless, Kyle waved him off and sprinted towards the Quidditch pitch.
"Thank you," Kyle muttered.
As Kyle passed through the entrance hall, he left the were-cat behind to assist in the battle. Were-cats were well-suited for chaotic fights like this, as their Animagus ability to transform into cats allowed them to easily distinguish between allies and enemies, ensuring they wouldn't mistakenly harm the wrong person.
Kyle took advantage of the situation and made his way to the Quidditch pitch.
Several large spiders were attempting to crawl through a gap in the castle wall, their legs making rustling noises.
"Are there still some left?" Kyle wondered aloud.
Earlier, he had dealt with the potential threat of the eight-eyed giant spiders in the Forbidden Forest, even collecting some of their venom. Otherwise, there might have been many more spiders by now, perhaps even a swarm.
As Kyle deliberated whether to eliminate the remaining spiders first or search for Snape, a Hungarian Horntail suddenly descended from above, devouring the spiders on the wall in a matter of moments, even roasting them with dragonfire beforehand.
"I hope Hagrid doesn't witness this gruesome scene," Kyle muttered to himself. He quickly sprinted towards the Quidditch pitch, but halfway there, he was forced to stop.
A group of Dementors had gathered, their presence freezing the surrounding air.
Kyle's expression turned peculiar. This attack on Hogwarts seemed more like a reunion of old acquaintances.
Remnants of giants, remnants of Death Eaters... Was it now the Dementors' turn? But with so few of them, what purpose could they serve? They couldn't even fill the role of decoration.
Kyle was puzzled as to why the Dementors wouldn't just stay put. A silver-glowing Patronus appeared behind Kyle, and before the Dementors could flee, they were already ensnared by the Patronus's long tentacles, which had somehow wrapped around their necks. The Dementors were dragged behind the Patronus, appearing like ugly decorations from a distance.
Under the influence of the Patronus, the Dementors' bodies began to shrink, collapse, and eventually dissipate.
"This should finally be completely resolved," Kyle thought to himself.
He continued forward, quickly reaching the center of the Quidditch pitch, which had suffered devastating damage. The stands were in ruins, and the goalposts lay scattered across the burning grass.
Nearby, a person lay on the ground...
"Conna?" Kyle rushed over, but soon halted, realizing he had mistaken the person.
It was a female witch he didn't recognize, dressed in a black robe, likely another Death Eater.
Relief washed over him...
Kyle took a moment to compose himself, carefully observing the surroundings. Finally, he spotted Sirius, carrying the unconscious Conna on his back, near the Quidditch pitch.
Across from him were over a dozen Death Eaters in black robes.
"Sirius Black, what a lucky guy you are." One of the Death Eaters sneered, "You've caused us quite a headache."
"As long as we kill you, we'll surely receive the Dark Lord's reward!"
"Stop talking and act now." A female Death Eater urged.
"What's the rush? There are twelve of us, and he's just one guy with a burden. He won't get away."
Another Death Eater spoke slowly, "I don't want to go to Hogwarts and die. It's better this way. As long as we kill him, we'll have accomplished a great deed. There's no need to fight alongside those idiots."
"Yeah." A Death Eater nodded in agreement, "Besides, no one will come to help him now..."
"Pfft!"
The Death Eater's words abruptly stopped, as if something had sliced through his neck, and then... a gust of wind blew through the audience.
"Damn it, who's there!"
Before the surrounding Death Eaters could react to what was happening, two more of them were attacked without warning.
A long wound appeared on their chests, as if someone had slashed them with a knife.
"Not good, it's a spell! Kill Sirius quickly!"
One of the Death Eaters realized what was happening, but the once solid ground suddenly turned into a swamp, and they all sank into it.
"Cutting Curse!"
With a gust of wind, the stadium fell silent.
Sirius looked at the person who had appeared behind the Death Eaters, sitting on the ground and gasping for breath.
"You're just in time... Kyle."
"Yeah, I made it just in time." Kyle said, glancing at Sirius's back, but then hesitated to speak further.
"Oh, don't worry, Conna is fine." Sirius said.
However, Kyle noticed that Sirius seemed conflicted as he spoke.
"I don't know how to tell you this." Sirius put Conna down, "Snape knocked her out and entrusted her to me."
"I don't know how to describe this feeling. That snot-nosed git is a Death Eater, yet he entrusted his niece to me, his enemy, to take care of."
Sirius's expression grew stranger as he spoke, as if his worldview was collapsing, and he was in a state of bewilderment.
He had known about the relationship between Conna and Snape long ago... it wasn't a secret, many people were aware of it.
Moreover, he had complained to Lupin more than once about Snape, wondering how such a snot-nosed git could have such an excellent niece.
What Sirius couldn't understand was Snape's attitude towards the Death Eaters; he seemed afraid of them.
In his opinion, a normal Death Eater should be like the Malfoy family, where the parents are Death Eaters, the children are junior Death Eaters, and the entire family are devoted followers of Voldemort.
Even if their children don't want to join, the parents would force them to side with Voldemort.
In fact, most Slytherins are in this situation. The Death Eaters would use every possible means to prove their loyalty.
But this common sense doesn't apply to Snape... even though he himself is a senior Death Eater, he's afraid of Conna coming into contact with Voldemort.
Sirius could sense that Snape didn't want Voldemort to discover Conna's existence, and he was even willing to risk being killed to hand Conna over to him.
When Snape stood there without any guard, even discarding his wand, Sirius could have easily killed him if he wanted to.
But he hesitated... and watched as Snape walked out of his line of sight.
Even now, Sirius regrets it and wants to scratch the wall... Snape was the one who caused Lily and James's deaths, why did he go soft back then!
Kyle didn't pay attention to Snape's changing expressions; he just walked over to carefully examine Conna's condition.
The original text can be found in Chapter 9 of the book/bar!
Just as Sirius said, Conna was fine, she was just hit by a Stunning Spell...
Wait a moment.
Kyle's hand suddenly stopped in mid-air.
He noticed that the bracelet on Conna's right hand was missing.
It was a silver bracelet, shaped like a phoenix with its head and tail connected, and its eyes were adorned with fragments of a Philosopher's Stone.
But the material wasn't important; what mattered was that the bracelet, given to Conna by Nicole May, could block two Killing Curses. Its value couldn't be measured in Galleons.
Conna had been wearing it all along, but now it was gone.
It must have been used already.
Kyle felt uneasy; he wanted to try to wake Conna up but realized that Snape had not only used a Stunning Spell but had also fed her a Drink of Despair.
It would be difficult to wake her up now; he couldn't possibly go to the classroom to prepare an antidote at this moment.
Kyle put Conna into his own box.
Sirius watched his actions and asked, "Kyle, you looked worried earlier. What's wrong with Conna?"
"Nothing, it's just that I noticed she drank the Drink of Despair, and she might not wake up for a while." Kyle shook his head and didn't explain the bracelet to Sirius.
The effect of that item was too astonishing, and it was related to Nicole May, so the fewer people who knew about it, the better.
This wasn't about trust; it was just that the magical world had too many bizarre methods. Sometimes, even if you wanted to keep something secret, others might still find out... unless you established an Unbreakable Vow with them.
"Sirius, what happened?" Kyle changed the subject after closing the box.
"I'm not entirely sure what happened either." Sirius's expression also turned serious, "Let's discuss it later; what's important now is dealing with those Death Eaters."
"That's easy." Kyle waved his wand, and a Fiendfyre Dragon formed by Fiery Magic appeared in the stadium again, then crashed into the area with the most Death Eaters.
Previously, he didn't have the time or the heart to control the Cruciatus Curse, but now he does. He has the time.
The raging flames almost lit up the night, and in that brief moment, the Death Eaters' frenzied attack suddenly halted.
The area where the Fiendfyre Dragon resided was like an insurmountable chasm, and no one dared to take a step forward.
Sirius, witnessing the scene before him, subconsciously licked his lips. He thought of the dozen or so Death Eaters that Kyle had just killed.
Different magic, same swift and decisive execution. No wonder so many people say that Kyle is the next Dumbledore. His current strength seems to be just a little lower than Dumbledore's.
Or perhaps it far surpasses the rest of the Order of the Phoenix, including himself.
"You can talk now," Kyle asked. "I'm quite curious."
"After Snape dragged me down the tower, I chased after him as he left the castle."
The Death Eaters abandoned their attack, and Sirius was no longer in a hurry. He briefly recalled and said, "Later, I lost track of him. Snape is very cunning. He created an illusion, making me mistakenly think he was heading underground. By the time I rushed over, I realized I had been fooled."
"Then how did you find this place?" Kyle asked, simultaneously controlling the Cruciatus Curse and pushing it forward, engulfing more people and forcing the remaining Death Eaters to retreat outside the school.
Ever since he killed those two Death Eaters in the Astronomy Tower, he no longer cared about the issue of magic.
Kyle waved his wand, and the Fiendfyre Dragon's massive body split into five tiny little phoenixes, each about the size of a sparrow.
These little phoenixes moved faster through the school, and upon encountering lone Death Eaters, they would dive in and deliver a fiery embrace.
Unfortunately, Kyle could only control five of them. Any more, and there would be a risk of friendly fire.
Sirius started licking his lips again. This meticulous control of magic made him feel like Kyle was showing off, and in the end, he simply turned his head away, pretending not to see.
"Because of Lucius Malfoy."
Sirius continued, "After losing track of Snape, I intended to return to the Astronomy Tower, but I inadvertently saw him and Narcissa rushing across the field."
"I thought they were plotting something, targeting Hogwarts, so I followed them to find out... I never expected them to come here and bring out a person from the Quidditch changing room, someone who had long disappeared."
"Draco Malfoy," Kyle whispered.
"Yes, that's right," Sirius nodded, gritting his teeth as he said,
"Draco Malfoy, the little Death Eater who killed Dumbledore, had been hiding in the Quidditch changing room all this time.
"That's truly a good hiding spot, isn't it? Ever since the Quidditch Stadium, no one would go there, not even the patrolling Aurors who couldn't be bothered to search."
Sirius spoke, forcefully waving his wand, wanting to find a Death Eater to vent his anger.
However, Kyle had already cleaned up the area, not a single Death Eater was left, not even a bug. In the end, he could only blast a few stones to express his frustration.
"What happened next?"
"Snape came too," Sirius said. "He seemed to have been waiting here. I found the unconscious Conna in a bush."
"Snape asked me to bring Conna back to the castle, and said that everything he did had nothing to do with Conna. I couldn't believe it, Snape, who was like this, actually bowed his head to me."
"But Snape was too presumptuous, thinking everyone was like him."
"Even if he didn't say anything, I wouldn't have ignored it. We all know that Conna has been providing us with various healing potions and antidotes for this war. Nearly half of the potions were made by her."
"What potions?" Kyle was taken aback.
"Since Conna went to France, she has been providing us with various healing potions and antidotes. I thought you knew."
"I... didn't know," Kyle stiffly shook his head.
No wonder, when he went to find Conna twice, her potion shop was closed. It turns out that all the potions were sent back to Britain, so of course they wouldn't be open.
Kyle rubbed his forehead, wondering why he didn't notice something was wrong at the time.
"You really didn't know?" Sirius was curious. "Didn't she tell you?"
"No," Kyle shook his head, "And I guess Snape definitely didn't know either."
"Alright," Sirius said, "You know what happened next. I prepared to bring Conna back to the castle, but I encountered those Death Eaters.
