Chapter 923: The Creation of a New Wand
Chapter 923: The Creation of a New Wand
"Exactly how do you do it? To contain so many powerful forces within your body? It's truly unbelievable!" Ollivander was quite excited, grabbing Ivan's sleeve and asking, even reaching out to pluck a hair for a closer look.
Ivan dodged away, his expression cold as he stared at Ollivander. "I have my methods, but that's not something you need to know, Mr. Ollivander..."
Ivan's words were like a bucket of cold water poured over Ollivander, instantly sobering him up and making him realize his current situation.
"Ah, of course, every wizard has their secrets, and they deserve respect. What were we discussing just now? The wand materials, right?" Ollivander said sheepishly.
"In any case, I've shown you the sample. If you lack confidence, I can find someone else..." Ivan was not about to beat around the bush and spoke directly.
In fact, he had initially planned to seek out the German wandmaker Gregorovitch, given that the latter had once possessed the Elder Wand. Unfortunately, Gregorovitch had been missing for months, and no one knew if it was Grindelwald or Voldemort who was behind it.
"No, no! You should trust me, Hals! Ollivander has the best wand-making skills in all of Europe, perhaps even the world! With this magical hair, I can certainly create a weapon as powerful as the Elder Wand!" Ollivander said with conviction, his gaze then turning eagerly to Ivan's head again.
"However, before that, we need to understand the properties of this material. This will take some time and a lot of... raw materials."
Ivan rubbed his hair, feeling a bit regretful about coming to Ollivander, but after careful consideration, he agreed. To create a perfect wand, these tests were necessary.
To avoid being completely bald, Ivan decided to personally participate in every experiment and the subsequent wand-making process, to prevent Ollivander from wasting these "precious" materials!
Ollivander seemed reluctant, as this meant he would have to reveal his exclusive techniques to Ivan. However, he couldn't resist the temptation of creating the most powerful wand, and he certainly didn't want Ivan to turn to another wandmaker.
Thus, the two reached a preliminary agreement. Over the next few days, Ivan stayed at Ollivander's Wand Shop, working with him to explore the creation of the new wand.
In his professional capacity, Ollivander showed immense enthusiasm. He spent less than half an hour each day on meals and bathroom breaks, dedicating the rest of his time to researching the new material. He only slept for a couple of hours when utterly exhausted.
Eventually, Ivan, unable to watch Ollivander push himself to the brink, brewed a few potent restorative potions to prevent him from collapsing during the research.
This high-intensity work forced Ivan to pull out over a hundred hairs in just a few days. If he hadn't been careful to vary the spots, a bald patch would have appeared on his head.
More importantly, he provided nearly a liter of fresh blood to prepare a special solution for treating the wand core. As a result, after just one week, both Ivan and Ollivander looked thoroughly drained.
Such efforts naturally yielded abundant results. Ollivander used dozens of different types of wood to make wands, testing their compatibility, and ultimately produced twenty-seven finished wands.
Each wand was exceptionally strong, and Ollivander's relentless research also resolved the issue of stability, ensuring that the wands would no longer explode during spellcasting.
The only drawback was that this stability came at the cost of some power. After countless attempts, both of them discovered that no type of wood could adequately accommodate this special hair.
"We need a more powerful material for the wand shaft to channel this force!" Ollivander declared firmly.
"What material do you have in mind? Do you need my help?" Ivan asked, willing to have Pierce procure anything, no matter how rare, for the new wand.
"Of course, or rather, I must have your help..." Ollivander rubbed his hands together, looking at Ivan with a hesitant expression, as if unsure whether to say it.
Ivan grew increasingly impatient, and finally, Ollivander cautiously spoke. "I think... using your bones would be perfect!"
"MY bones?" Ivan was stunned, and his face darkened instantly.
Ollivander quickly explained. "These woods can't perfectly channel the wand core because your hair and blood contain multiple conflicting forces. To make the strongest wand, the wand shaft must also be a part of your body..."
"And bone is the most suitable material. It's strong enough, and I've heard that many Wizards in Africa prefer to use human bones for their wands..."
Ollivander went on, listing the benefits of using bone for the wand shaft, while Ivan shivered and felt his skin crawl, yet he couldn't deny that Ollivander had a point.
"Don't hesitate. It's just a bone. Drink a Bone-Growing Potion, and it will grow back. It's so convenient, not at all troublesome!" Ollivander was nearly beside himself with excitement, eager to cast a spell and extract a bone from Ivan immediately.
This wasn't about convenience... Ivan opened his mouth to protest, but Ollivander's words were like a devil's temptation. "Think about it, Hals. A wand made from your blood, bone, and hair would be incredibly powerful!"
"Alright, let's give it a try." After much consideration, Ivan finally decided to go through with it, driven by the desire for the most powerful wand. Following Ollivander's strong suggestion, he cast a spell to extract a bone from his left arm.
Ollivander gently took it, treating it like a priceless treasure, carefully examining it. Then, with a fussy air, he said he needed to find the most magical hair strand from Ivan to make it perfect...
Ivan was on the verge of breaking down but thought that since he had already given up a bone, a few strands of hair didn't matter.
Ollivander didn't waste any time, carefully picking and choosing until he finally found a satisfactory wand core, then happily rushed into the laboratory...
