Chapter 922: Saber, Who Can Say?
Chapter 922: Saber, Who Can Say?
The aerial threat posed an immense danger. If not for the surprise attack at G-3, Kuro would have immediately unleashed all his power to clear the battlefield without hesitation. Anywhere else, he wouldn't have held back. But now, he had to consider the safety of G-3 fortress and the entire Navy.
As a swordsman, his unarmed combat techniques weren't his strongest suit, but they were formidable enough to achieve the "internal fragmentation" level of Haki. Even if captured by Marshall D. Teach, his abilities could still break free. With the Black Tortoise Body technique from his swordsmanship, he wouldn't die instantly from a shockwave. If given a chance to escape, he could still control his powers to ensure his survival and that of his subordinates.
But it was too dangerous. Kuro couldn't afford to gamble.
That thing descending from the sky could kill even the Seven Warlords of the Sea without leaving them intact—except perhaps Dracule Mihawk.
Marshall D. Teach was here for the Float-Float Fruit. But sacrificing his hard-earned allies and influence for it would be a terrible loss.
His expression darkened. Kuro was proving more trouble than he'd anticipated.
His original plan had gambled on Kuro's absence from G-3, and he'd guessed right. He'd hoped Kuro would join his crew—a joyful outcome. But if Kuro refused, they would kill him, take his Devil Fruit, and feed it to a subordinate. Teach had been confident he and his crew could handle it.
But two things caught him off guard: the unexpected presence of the new Seven Warlords of the Sea, and the sheer amount of hidden power Kuro had stored in the sky. This forced him to hold back his Dark Water ability. While his Dark-Dark Fruit's power to counter Devil Fruit users was his pride, against Kuro, it now became a liability.
Teach stood up, catching his breath, his broken teeth exposed. "Evil laugh indeed, Kuro. You never disappoint."
"We're not that familiar, Blackbeard." Kuro tightened his grip on Autumn Water, his voice sharp. "You won't escape this time!"
Boom!
A thunderous explosion erupted beside them.
Daidon's body flew backward, landing beside Teach, clutching his abdomen, blood trickling from his lips. "Muruhuhu! What terrifying strength!"
Nearby, Boa Hancock stood poised, her expression darkened. On her smooth waist, her clothes were torn, a thin wound bleeding.
"This insult is unforgivable! Daring to deceive this one using Luffy's officer's illusions and my sister's image! You deserve nothing but death!" Her eyes blazed with fury.
"Muruhuhu", Daidon laughed, his nine tails suddenly unfurling behind him like a mythical beast—Dogo Dogo Fruit's Nine-Tailed Fox form, capable of mesmerizing, inducing hallucinations, and transforming.
Kuro glanced at Boa Hancock. Provoking her anger would surely accelerate the battle's conclusion. As one of the strongest female pirates, Daidon stood no chance against the Snake Princess.
Looking at the broader picture, as long as Kas stayed out of trouble, defeating these pirates was inevitable. None of them could rival the Seven Warlords of the Sea.
Plus, Sakazuki was on his way.
Kuro gripped Autumn Water, channeling Unified Haki into his blade. He dashed toward Marshall D. Teach—keeping him occupied was enough.
"Blackbeard's Laugh!"
As Kuro's blade slashed toward him, Teach roared with laughter. His fist glowed with a white aura, punching straight forward.
Boom!
The shockwave tore through the Grand Line. G-3 fortress froze momentarily before shattering like glass, split into three jagged pieces. The earth cracked, seawater gushing from the fractures.
"Damn it! Old Man's G-3!"
The shockwave sent Kuro staggering backward. When powerhouses like these fought, the terrain inevitably reshaped itself, no matter the location. That's why he despised pirates attacking his fortress—especially those at the Four Emperors' level!
Marshall D. Teach's ability was unstoppable. No defense could withstand that shockwave. The only option now was to take him down before he could replicate his techniques!
Kuro charged again, sword raised.
On another part of the battlefield, the shockwave made Klah stagger. Lafitte seized the moment, wings unfurling, diving with his staff-sword aimed at Klah's brow.
But as Klah stumbled, he grinned darkly, twisting his head to evade the strike.
"You'll turn your blade to strike me", Klah said, lowering his head.
The next instant, Lafitte's blade pivoted sideways, slashing horizontally. Klah dodged effortlessly.
"Then you'll slash downward."
Klah moved aside as Lafitte's staff-sword swung downward—but again missed. Klah's foot lashed out, channeling a wisp of Calm Step, striking Lafitte's chest.
Lafitte recoiled, instinctively dodging sideways. But Klah moved too, landing beside him, grinning. "You'll dodge this attack and move aside."
His claws extended, striking forward.
"Iron Body Fist Technique—Claw Mountain Split!"
Hiss!
Boom!
Lafitte crashed to the ground, smoke and dust rising.
Klah landed, tongue flicking across his lips, smirking at the haze. "Every move belongs to the great Klah Officer's control!"
The smoke cleared, revealing Lafitte's torn right sleeve, a trace of Haki dissipating, red marks on his skin.
"So you possess Observation Haki with precognitive abilities?" Lafitte scowled.
Klah crouched lower, his stance predatory. "Saber... who can say?"
Though an 'Ancient Moon Wolf,' Klah's ability surpassed mere Observation Haki. By analyzing blood, he could discern an enemy's combat habits and strength. Yet the gap was clear—Lafitte was stronger now.
He needed to give his all!
Klah glanced at the sky, the sun dipping into twilight. Tonight—was the full moon.
If he held out until then...
With a roar, Klah's body erupted with black fur. His face elongated into a wolf's snout, fangs bared. His limbs thickened, claws bursting forth.
With a Boom, a five-meter-tall werewolf crouched on the battlefield, exhaling mist into the dust.
"Come, Lafitte! Tonight shall be the great Klah Officer's moment of glory!"
