Chapter 92: Now We're Safe!
Chapter 92: Now We're Safe!
"Voldemort", Tom whispered, "is my past, present, and future, Harry Potter."
"But unfortunately, you made a mistake, Riddle", Sherlock interrupted coldly.
Tom's eyes, gradually solidifying, fixed on him as he continued.
"The greatest Wizard of all time? I've never heard anyone in the Wizarding World call you that." Sherlock sneered. "That title is reserved for Dumbledore alone. You are merely known as the Dark Lord."
Riddle's smile vanished, replaced by a hideous expression. He bellowed, "What is Dumbledore compared to me! I can seal off all of Hogwarts with just a fragment of my memory, forcing him to flee like a stray dog, disgracing him across the entire Wizarding World!"
As his emotions flared, Sherlock finally made his move!
He spoke the incantation in a cold voice.
"Alohomora!"
The Portrait Hole, targeted by his wand, suddenly swung open!
A cold draft rushed in, and Sherlock forcefully pushed Harry and Ron out.
"Go! Both of you, get out! Find the other professors!"
But before Harry and Ron could turn and crawl through the passage, a long, emerald-green figure suddenly slithered in from outside!
Harry and Ron were terrified and scrambled back. Sherlock pulled them away from the common room entrance, his words rapid and urgent.
"Close your eyes! Don't look directly at the Basilisk!"
Tom's sinister laughter echoed through the common room.
"So what, Professor Forrest? When faced with me, all you can think of is running? How will your so-called greatest Wizard in history come to your aid?"
After securing Harry and Ron, Sherlock, without hesitation, yanked the third button from his robe!
"Do you really think everything is under your control, and I am completely unprepared?"
He threw the button, and Harry and Ron, sheltered behind him, froze in shock.
"Professor! Don't say anything crazy now!" Harry pleaded in distress.
Sherlock ignored Harry's incomprehensible plea. The button he had thrown hit the ground and transformed into a rooster.
When he and Professor Flitwick had gone to the greenhouse to get the rooster, he had taken the precaution of turning one into a button to keep on him, just in case. Now, it had proven useful!
As soon as the rooster landed, it began to crow.
"Cock-a-doodle-doo!"
Harry and Ron's faces lit up with renewed hope. Maybe this time it would be an event that couldn't be jinxed by Harry's bad luck!
However, after the rooster's crowing, the Basilisk blocking the entrance to the Gryffindor Common Room remained unaffected.
Instead, it launched a vicious attack on the rooster, opening its massive jaws and swallowing it whole!
Tom's calm voice echoed through the common room.
"Did you really think I wouldn't know about your preparations in the castle? The rooster's crow is indeed fatal to a Basilisk, but I have already destroyed its hearing. That weakness is no longer a threat."
Sherlock looked at the remains of Rooster, his face darkening.
"This is going to be a problem."
Hearing this, Harry and Ron's faces lit up with surprise and delight.
"Exactly! That's right, Professor! You have to think like this and say it too!"
Sherlock smacked their heads irritably.
"What are you talking about?"
The Basilisk slithered around the common room, which was far too cramped for its massive body. The bookshelves and furniture were scattered in disarray, and it was preparing to launch an attack on Sherlock and the others!
"Fawkes!"
Sherlock called out the name of Dumbledore's phoenix. A moment later, a distant, melodic song echoed through the common room, and golden light illuminated the entire space, forcing the Basilisk to back away.
The fiery red phoenix appeared, singing a mystical and ethereal tune. It held an old, tattered hat in its talons and perched on Sherlock's shoulder.
Tom's face twisted into a sinister grin.
"So this is the help Dumbledore has given you? A mere phoenix can't stand against the King of Serpents!"
The Basilisk's massive body slithered through the common room, clearly sensing the threat. Its cold, yellow eyes fixed on Fawkes, but the deadly gaze that could kill with a single look had no effect on the phoenix.
Phoenixes are immortal; no death magic, be it the Basilisk's gaze or the Killing Curse, can harm them!
Sherlock took the Sorting Hat from Fawkes's talons and, following Dumbledore's instructions, handed it to Harry.
"Figure it out. There's something in the hat. Take it out!"
Fawkes took flight from Sherlock's shoulder with a shrill cry, charging straight at the Basilisk!
Sherlock didn't stand idle. He raised his wand and aimed it at Tom, whose form was becoming increasingly solid.
"Petrificus Totalus!"
A red spell shot out as a brilliant beam, streaking straight toward Tom!
However, Tom remained calm, standing his ground as the spell passed through him.
"It's useless, Professor Forrest. Your spells have no effect on me", he said with a smug smile.
In the center of the common room, Fawkes was locked in a fierce battle with the Basilisk. The phoenix's ability to fly and its agile movements gave it a significant advantage in the confined space.
Soon, a sharp, agonized hiss echoed through the room!
Fawkes dove down, its long golden beak piercing the Basilisk's head. Black blood splattered to the ground like a rainstorm.
The Basilisk's eyes were gouged out!
"Great job, Fawkes! We've got this!"
Sherlock's spirits soared. He waved his wand, no longer focusing on how to deal with Tom but instead planning to help Fawkes finish off the Basilisk.
Harry and Ron had been excited, but their hearts sank when they heard Sherlock's words.
"Didn't I tell you not to talk nonsense! Professor, please, just be quiet! Waaah!"
Harry's voice broke into sobs, and Ron's face turned ashen, his body frozen in shock.
But the Basilisk, now blinded, only grew more ferocious. It thrashed wildly in the common room, and before Sherlock could cast another spell, its tail swept across the room, slamming him into the wall!
