Chapter 92: Identity
Chapter 92: Identity "Exposed"! (First Update)
A month after the start of the school year,
Jerry bid goodnight to Hass and Elsa, closed the door to his room, and cast a locking charm. He then entered his Box Space.
Arriving at the potion lab in his mini mansion, he checked the color of the potion in the cauldron and couldn't help but smile.
"It looks like it's almost done!"
Since his return, he had been brewing the Polyjuice Potion for a whole month, and today was finally the day to finish it.
Adding the last ingredient, lacewing flies, to the potion, the thick, syrup-like liquid immediately started bubbling and growling vigorously in the cauldron.
He took his wand, channeled magic into the potion, and then added a strand of hair from Hermione into the boiling potion. The previously bubbling potion instantly turned a pleasant pink.
The advanced transformation potion, Polyjuice Potion, was complete!
Jerry, delighted, carefully divided the pink potion into four small bottles.
Each bottle contained enough potion to transform him into Hermione for one hour.
Polyjuice Potion is a potion that allows the drinker to assume the appearance of another person. It can transform the drinker into any human of any age and gender, but it cannot turn a person into an animal, nor can it transform non-humans or half-humans, such as Hagrid.
Since the potion requires a strand of hair from the person being transformed into, the transformed body is an exact replica of the target's body.
The color and taste of the Polyjuice Potion vary depending on the person being transformed into. Some are earthy yellow, some dark brown, some golden yellow, and some pink. Some taste terrible, some are average, and some are quite pleasant.
It is rumored that the potion's taste is related to the purity of the person being transformed into, but this is only a guess with no concrete evidence, as no one would admit to having a dark soul.
Previously, when Jerry went out, he always wore a loose wizard robe, a wizard hat, and a mask, so no one could see his face. They could only judge by his height or voice.
Hermione's height was similar to his, and while their voices were different, that wasn't a problem. A simple voice-changing charm could solve it.
So, if he operated carefully, S.H.I.E.L.D. would likely be misled once again in their investigation of his true identity.
Meanwhile, at S.H.I.E.L.D. headquarters in Washington, D.C., the Triskelion.
Agent Hill placed a stack of files on Nick Fury's desk.
"Director, based on our current investigation, we have a high probability of identifying the true identity of the wizard, and it's among these few children!"
"Liu Hui, Wang Gang, Jerry Carmen, Li Hu, Zhao Xiaogou."
Nick Fury took the files, skimmed through them, and then picked up Jerry Carmen's file, looking surprised.
"Wasn't the previous investigation result that he was a Chinese-American? How is this an exception?"
"Actually, among all our investigations, the child named Jerry Carmen has the highest probability of being the wizard!"
Hill explained her reasoning.
Although Jerry had never revealed his appearance, S.H.I.E.L.D., being the top international intelligence agency, had vast resources and a wealth of elite talent across various fields.
As long as one is willing to invest time and resources, it's not entirely impossible to find clues about Jerry.
Previously, no information on Jerry was found because Fury hadn't considered him important enough at the time, and more resources were allocated to other areas.
Now, with Jerry displaying unparalleled healing talents and powerful support abilities, Nick Fury has naturally increased the intensity and scope of the investigation.
Thus, as the person in charge of this case, Agent Hill, has been able to mobilize more agents to assist in extensive screening.
By narrowing down the scope and methodically eliminating possibilities, she quickly identified a few children who met the criteria, with one standing out: Jerry Carmen.
Initially, he was excluded because he wasn't Chinese-American, but a meticulous agent later discovered that this child seemed to be highly skilled in Chinese cuisine, indicating a strong likelihood that he also spoke Mandarin.
Most importantly, this child was exceptionally talented in every aspect, to the point where it was beyond normal, which inevitably raised Hill's suspicions.
After all, with a matching height, a home address close to the warehouse, and abilities far beyond the norm, it was hard not to suspect that he might be the wizard with magical powers.
After hearing Hill's report, Nick nodded.
He had great trust in Hill's intelligence and judgment, and based on his own assessment, this Jerry Carmen was indeed highly suspicious.
"Tomorrow, go with me to New York. I want to meet him in person and ask him for a favor!"
"Is it about Tony Stark?"
Hill had clearly made some guesses.
"Natasha's report indicates that Tony's poisoning is becoming increasingly worrying. Our current treatment methods are insufficient to fully recover him. I plan to see if this wizard has any solutions.
After all, even if we uncover the secrets left by Mr. Howard, there's no guarantee they will solve Tony's problem. We need to try other methods!"
Nick Fury sighed heavily.
As one of the founders of S.H.I.E.L.D. and Howard Stark's son, Tony was a crucial member of the Avengers Initiative, highly valued by Nick.
Despite some flaws in his temperament and personality,
There was no denying that even if he wasn't suited to be an Avenger, his technical support and guidance were invaluable to S.H.I.E.L.D.
Leaving the Box Space, Jerry took out his flying broom and pointed his Wand at himself, whispering:
"Invisibility Charm!"
A blue magical light flashed, and Jerry and the Nimbus 2000 disappeared from the room.
After a month of intense study, he finally mastered the Disguise Charm, a spell typically only known by more advanced wizards.
So now, he no longer had to sneak into the warehouse and enter and exit from there. Instead, he could use the Disguise Charm to fly in and out of his room window.
While his level of skill wasn't enough to maintain the invisibility for long periods, it was sufficient.
With the help of the Disguise Charm, Jerry quickly arrived over Hell's Kitchen, ready to tackle crime and earn Little Red Stars as part of his daily routine.
However, just as his Disguise Charm started to fade and he flew around dealing with one crime after another, a man in a black suit on a rooftop was observing him through a telescope.
"The target has appeared. Prepare to start the operation and ensure it is completed in one go!"
