Chapter 92: Hatred
Chapter 92: Hatred
On the chaotic battlefield, Tsunade's face turned pale as she forcefully punched out, shattering a large rock that was barreling towards her.
From an unknown direction on her right, a kunai with explosive tags attached came flying at Tsunade. Feng Ye reached out and caught the kunai in mid-air, then threw it back towards one of the Sand Ninjas.
"Tsunade, are you alright?"
Feng Ye turned to the pale-faced Tsunade with concern.
Just as he had expected, Tsunade was indeed still affected by the chaotic nature of the battlefield.
"I'm fine..."
Tsunade took a deep breath, her face pale but not overwhelmed by fear or helplessness. Her chakra control was only slightly affected.
Feng Ye scanned the battlefield and was about to say something when a figure suddenly rushed towards them at incredible speed. The figure's body twisted in mid-air, releasing a barrage of arrows that enveloped both him and Tsunade in the line of fire.
"Watch out!"
Tsunade shouted, mustering her strength to punch the ground. A large chunk of rock was dislodged and flipped over, providing cover for the two of them from the shower of arrows.
Just then, several more figures appeared from different directions, launching a chaotic array of attacks, mostly consisting of various hidden weapons and covering a wide range of types.
Swish!
Tsunade and Feng Ye darted out from under the rock, landing on either side.
Now they could clearly see their attackers—not one of them was human. They were all bizarre-looking puppets! Ten puppets surrounded them, with Feng Ye and Tsunade at the center. Not far from these puppets, a figure appeared, fluctuating in and out of sight. It was the elder of the Sand Village, the pinnacle of countless Sand Ninjas, the puppeteer Chiyo!
"Your condition seems a bit off, Tsunade."
Chiyo's tone was calm and indifferent.
The two of them had crossed paths during the Second Great Ninja War, where Chiyo was renowned in the ninja world for her puppet techniques. Back then, Tsunade's raw power wasn't a match for Chiyo, but her medical ninjutsu allowed her to counter Chiyo's various poisons, greatly reducing the damage Chiyo inflicted during the war.
Ever since then, Chiyo had wanted to get rid of Tsunade. However, she was stopped by the White Fang of Konoha. During that same battle, the White Fang killed Chiyo's son and daughter-in-law, defeated her in a direct confrontation, and became renowned in the ninja world, becoming a hero of Konoha.
One could say that the two people Chiyo hated the most were the White Fang and Tsunade!
After noticing Tsunade's location, Chiyo had immediately controlled her puppets to attack. At this moment, both her condition and battle experience were at their peak. Even though Tsunade had grown significantly stronger after the Second Great Ninja War, Chiyo was confident that she could take her down!
"Is that so?"
Tsunade, aware of her compromised state, hadn't expected Chiyo to find her so quickly. However, she didn't show any sign of retreat, responding with a cold laugh instead.
Chiyo glanced at Feng Ye out of the corner of her eye, a cold glint flashing in her eyes. "That brat... Could he be the White Fang's son?"
"Be careful!"
Tsunade's heart tightened as she immediately warned Feng Ye without hesitation.
Almost as soon as Chiyo finished speaking, several puppets simultaneously launched an attack on Feng Ye. Scorpion-like metal tails and piercing arrows coated in a faint glow indicated the presence of Chiyo's meticulously refined poisons!
Facing the sudden onslaught of multiple puppets, Feng Ye remained calm. His body leaped into the air, gracefully dodging the chaotic barrage of attacks like a falling leaf. Finally, he stepped on one of the puppets, flipped in mid-air, and landed safely a short distance away.
However, even so, killing the son of the White Fang would still alleviate some of the hatred in her heart!
"Hah!"
Tsunade shouted, her monstrous strength erupting as her body lunged forward in an attempt to attack Chiyo.
Chiyo manipulated one of her puppets to erect a shield, blocking Tsunade's path. Tsunade's punch landed on the shield, creating a booming sound, but it was barely stopped.
"As expected, your condition is not optimal." Chiyo cackled upon seeing this.
Although it was unclear if Tsunade was injured or affected by something else, her state was clearly compromised, as even one of Chiyo's puppets could easily block Tsunade's frontal assault!
This was like a heaven-sent opportunity for revenge! Both the son of the White Fang and the injured Tsunade had been delivered right to her!
"Sasori... Watch. I will make them repay every bit of pain you endured," Chiyo said, her eyes glinting with cold malevolence, her demeanor becoming somewhat unnerving. She manipulated her puppets, taking on both Feng Ye and Tsunade with a single puppet each.
As someone who had crossed paths with Chiyo before, Tsunade was well aware of her opponent's capabilities.
In her current state, she would need at least four to five Jonin-level shinobi to assist her from the sidelines, and even then, they would have to achieve perfect coordination to stand a chance against Chiyo.
What's more, Chiyo was manipulating two puppets to hold her back, and the remaining eight puppets rushed towards Feng Ye, clearly intending to take him down swiftly!
If seven or eight puppets were attacking her, she could use the Hundred Seals technique to withstand them, but with only two puppets to contend with, her current state made it impossible to break free!
"This is bad..." Tsunade grit her teeth, clenching her fists as she struggled to control the chakra that was unstable due to her hemophobia. She mustered her strength to use her monstrous might, intending to repel the two puppets.
However, the two puppets Chiyo was manipulating were support-type puppets; they didn't deal much damage but had incredibly strong defensive capabilities, especially given that Tsunade was affected by her fear of blood. It was impossible for her to break free.
On the other side, Chiyo manipulated eight puppets, sealing off all of Feng Ye's escape routes and trapping him in the center.
"Son of the White Fang... Die! Go to hell and meet your father!" Chiyo's eyes blazed with killing intent as she lashed out with chakra threads, entangling Feng Ye's body and restricting his movements. She then manipulated the two nearest puppets to swing their blades, aiming to slice into Feng Ye.
Seeing this, Tsunade, who was not far away, had a grim expression on her face. She felt like the tragedy of the past was about to unfold before her once again.
But.
In the next moment.
A silvery light suddenly shone.
Like a star piercing through a dark sky, the light intensified.
The silvery radiance burst forth from Feng Ye's chest, enveloping his body in an instant. Violent chakra surged within him, effortlessly shattering all the chakra threads that Chiyo had wrapped around him!
Bathed in the silvery light, Feng Ye's gaze turned cold as he drew out the Kusanagi Sword strapped to his back with his left hand, swinging it horizontally in a fluid motion.
The sword edge, sheathed in silver light, cleaved through the air like a crescent moon slicing the void.
Clang!!!
The silvery arc flashed, and the two puppets that had attacked from the left and right, along with their blades, were bisected by Feng Ye's sword, reduced to halves!
