Chapter 917: The Unexpected Coronation
Chapter 917: The Unexpected Coronation
When Snape learned that Harry had escaped Hogwarts overnight to avoid meeting him, his face turned a deep shade of purple with anger.
"Good, very good," Snape said, his eyes cold as he looked at Hermione and Ron. His voice carried a slimy undertone as he continued, "Tell me, where did he go?"
"I don't know, Professor," Hermione replied, her voice quivering as if she was about to cry. "A Slytherin student mentioned last night that you were looking for him. He hasn't returned since he went to see you."
Hermione suddenly stopped her sobbing and lifted her head, speaking seriously, "I know you don't like Harry, Professor Snape, but this is Hogwarts. Even if the Headmaster wants to detain a student, they must be informed in advance."
"And since you've kept Harry detained for a night, it's time to let him out."
Snape's expression grew even darker.
He had wanted to detain Harry Potter, preferably until graduation, but he hadn't even seen the boy. This visit was specifically to cause trouble for Potter.
"You're lying," Snape narrowed his eyes, looking at Hermione again.
This time, he noticed something interesting.
The Gryffindor witch seemed to be intentionally avoiding eye contact with him. When she couldn't avoid it, a few veins would pop out on her neck and forehead.
It was as if she was straining her head, much like when one grips a heavy object. Her mind seemed to be working hard on something.
Could it be Occlumency?
Snape wondered, but he quickly shook his head.
Occlumency didn't require such physical strain; that would be absurd.
However, Hermione did remind him of something.
Perhaps he could use Legilimency to search her memories personally. As Harry's best friend, she must know something.
Snape's hand unconsciously gripped his wand.
Coincidentally, at that moment, all the portraits on the walls of the Headmaster's Office opened their eyes and looked over.
"As a professor, we should never read a student's mind without their consent, Severus," the newest portrait of Dumbledore said, his blue eyes bright and profound. These were words he had said countless times before.
Dumbledore would remind him of this whenever he suspected Harry of plotting something behind the professors' backs and wanted to investigate.
Even after Dumbledore's death, Snape still released his wand, perhaps due to this reason.
"I didn't even see Potter," he even explained before shooing Hermione out of the Headmaster's Office.
Hermione stood by the Fat Lady's portrait for a moment before turning and leaving. Once she quickly walked past the Fat Lady and returned to the Gryffindor Common Room, she collapsed into an armchair, panting heavily.
Hearing the commotion, Ron rushed over and asked, "Well? Did he believe you?"
"He did!" Hermione smiled, "He didn't believe me at first, but then he did. I think Occlumency played a role in convincing him."
"That's amazing!" Ron exclaimed, "I didn't expect you to be able to fool Snape so soon after learning the spell."
"Neither did I," Hermione replied happily, "I always felt I hadn't fully mastered it, but now it seems I have.
"I could sense that Snape suspected me, and he must have wanted to use Legilimency, but he believed my words and let me leave... This means he didn't see anything about Harry in my thoughts."
There was a hint of excitement in Hermione's voice.
Occlumency, along with Patronus Charm, could be considered the third major wizarding exam, aside from O.W.Ls and N.E.W.Ts.
Patronus Charm is used to convey messages, and Occlumency is used to protect secrets. Only by mastering these two spells can one be considered an above-average adult wizard.
However, there is a distinction between the two. Compared to Patronus Charm, learning Occlumency is slightly more challenging.
Perhaps most Aurors and members of the Order of the Phoenix can successfully summon a Patronus, but among them, there will be those who cannot perform Occlumency.
At least some Aurors definitely cannot.
When Kael taught Harry this spell, Hermione was envious.
Unfortunately, that method wasn't suitable for her... It was too brutal.
After a long time, Hermione finally learned Occlumency by studying all the related books she could find.
And she managed to learn it before graduation.
To be honest, Hermione felt a little proud.
"What do we do next?" Ron asked, bringing Hermione back to the present.
"Do nothing," Hermione replied softly, "Just continue with our classes.
"Yes, we must act as if we know nothing and avoid any slip-ups."
"Good!"
Both of them looked serious, as if they were facing a tense and inevitable fate.
Meanwhile, at Number 12 Grimmauld Place.
"I fully support your decision, Harry!" Sirius exclaimed, patting his godson's shoulder.
"That snot-nosed git of a Headmaster... I'd rather not attend Hogwarts at all!"
To be honest, he had similar thoughts after learning about the incident... He wanted to take Harry out of Hogwarts to avoid Snape's personal vendetta.
That snot-nosed git would definitely do something like this.
He didn't expect Harry to take matters into his own hands and return overnight.
They were truly a family, even their thoughts were in sync.
"I want to join you," Harry said.
"No problem," Sirius agreed without hesitation, "You can do whatever you want, even if it's nothing. If you need money, just let me know.
Sirius seemed to have an air of confidence, and indeed he had the means to back it up.
The Gringotts vault was filled with mountains of gold, enough for him and Harry to spend for centuries, provided they didn't start any businesses.
Previously, Sirius had opened an ice cream shop in Hogsmeade to protect Harry up close. The business was doing well.
But when they calculated the expenses after the task, not only did they not make any money, but they also lost nearly eight thousand Galleons. Remus Lupin was so angry that his face turned dark.
Eight thousand Galleons was a huge sum. It was probably more than Sirius had spent in his entire life.
It was truly a mystery how Sirius had managed to lose so much money... and he didn't even have to worry about rent.
"Really?" Harry's eyes lit up. "I want to join you in dealing with the Death Eaters."
Sirius hesitated, not speaking for a moment, even wanting to take back his previous words.
"Harry... this... it's not as simple as you think," Sirius stammered. "Dealing with Death Eaters isn't a safe job. You'll be facing life-threatening dangers at any moment."
"I'm not afraid!" Harry said firmly.
"They're different from the Death Eaters you've encountered before," Sirius continued to persuade him. "They're more vicious."
"I don't care," Harry said seriously. "Moreover, I think the Death Eaters I've seen are far from gentle."
Sirius thought for a moment... it seemed that was indeed the case.
Whether it was during the Triwizard Tournament or later at the Department of Mysteries, Harry had encountered the true elite Death Eaters, and a slight misstep could have led to his death.
But...
Sirius frowned, hesitating like most parents, as he didn't want Harry to face danger, even though he had already experienced a lot.
At this moment, he truly wished Harry could stay in Hogwarts, at least it was safe there for now, and he wouldn't have to worry about the Death Eaters.
"By the way, is Kael here?" Harry seemed to sense Sirius's hesitation and proactively changed the subject.
It was impossible to make him stay in the safe house. He was determined to go after the Death Eaters and Voldemort, and Sirius couldn't stop him.
"Kael?" Hearing Harry's words, Sirius was taken aback. "Isn't he a professor at Hogwarts? You should be closer to him, why are you asking me."
"He should have left the school by now," Harry briefly explained his discovery from yesterday.
Professor McGonagall had required everyone to be present, even Hagrid was there, except for Kael.
"I guess he must have sensed something," Sirius thought. "I seem to recall someone mentioning that the Dark Lord was eager to kill him. Kael went to Hogwarts before because of Dumbledore's protection."
"What did he do... that he had to go into hiding?" Harry exclaimed in surprise.
Based on his understanding of Kael, ordinary Death Eaters were no match for him, and this could be verified by the other members of the Order of the Phoenix.
During the wedding of Remus and Tonks, Kael had saved everyone, and his abilities were even stronger than when he was in school, much stronger.
For him to go into hiding, it was likely that Voldemort had to take action himself, but this seemed a bit exaggerated... even though he had killed Voldemort, he had never been personally hunted down by him.
Of course, it might also be because he had always been at Hogwarts, but regardless, the only person in the entire Order of the Phoenix who might receive such treatment was probably just Kael.
What had he done to make Voldemort so angry?
Harry was eager to know the answer. If possible, he wanted to experience it himself.
But he was disappointed.
Sirius shook his head. "I don't know. No one has mentioned it, probably only Dumbledore knew, but he's dead."
Sirius seemed reluctant to continue the conversation, and after this sentence, Harry couldn't help but think of the kind Dumbledore again, and he suddenly lost the desire to continue.
For a moment, the atmosphere became a bit awkward.
However, at this moment, the door was opened from outside.
Harry continued reading.
"According to an insider, the unidentified wizard once visited the infamous Dark Magic Shop, Bogin-Bock, to appraise the Ravenclaw Crown's authenticity."
"I never thought that the famous Ravenclaw Crown actually existed. I would trade all my wealth for it, but I was rejected."
Old Bogin once said this, and from his words, it's not hard to hear his personal desire for the Ravenclaw Crown. However, the mysterious wizard seemed to want more than Old Bogin's entire fortune.
Perhaps he felt that his shop didn't have much money, so he rejected Old Bogin's proposal, wanting to find a more affluent buyer for the crown.
After reading the article, Harry couldn't help but purse his lips, "Is the Ravenclaw Crown really that valuable?"
He knew Bogin-Bock and had also inadvertently visited once. Although it was a Dark Magic Shop, the items inside were not cheap at all, but rather frighteningly expensive.
The shop owner's entire fortune must be more than the gold in his vault, right? And this isn't enough?
"That's the Ravenclaw Crown." Sirius held the newspaper and looked at it repeatedly, "If I could meet that person, I'd be willing to give them all the gold in my vault for the crown."
"Remus, do you think we can find him?"
"It's difficult." Lupin thought for a moment and shook his head.
"Bang!"
Another door-knocking sound, and Mrs. Weasley and Tonks arrived, along with the Auror Kingsley and Mundungus, the petty thief who walks the gray area.
"Hey, have you heard?" Mundungus said eagerly, "A big treasure, a real big treasure, has appeared in Britain."
"Of course." Sirius nodded.
He didn't particularly like Mundungus, but he didn't dislike him either.
"We were just discussing this."
"Discussing what?"
"Whether we can find this person." Sirius said, "I'm willing to buy the crown with all my gold."
All the gold of the Black family.
Mundungus seemed to think of something, looking ecstatic, and he almost drooled. But he quickly snapped out of it and shook his head.
"It's impossible. Don't even think about it."
"Why?"
"Because all the wizards in Britain are looking for him now." Tonks added, "I don't know how the news leaked, but after this article, almost all wizards have started searching... Aurors, Death Eaters, and even wizards from other countries. We'll have a hard time finding him among them."
"That's right." Mundungus said, "There's already a price on the black market, and you'd never guess how much he's worth."
"So you were chasing after me to ask about the Aurors' situation, wanting to make a big profit, right?" Tonks narrowed her eyes at Mundungus, and her hair turned fiery red.
"I... I..." Mundungus stammered, unable to speak.
He did have such thoughts. He came to Grimmauld Place No. 12 this time, wanting to take advantage of the Order of the Phoenix's intelligence sources.
However, it seems that they don't know much more than he does.
Thinking about it, the Order of the Phoenix was previously disbanded, and everyone was recruited by the Aurors after Dumbledore was killed. Only then did they have the idea of reuniting.
Naturally, there wouldn't be any special intelligence in such a short time.
After realizing this, Mundungus immediately found an excuse to run out of the house.
Seeing his greedy demeanor, Mrs. Weasley scowled in disgust, "I really don't know why Dumbledore let him join the Order of the Phoenix."
"Probably because he can provide us with intelligence that we can't access." Lupin said casually, not taking this seriously. Instead, he looked at Tonks, seemingly waiting for her to say something.
"The Dark Lord."
Indeed, the next second, Tonks brought them a shocking piece of news.
"Really?" Harry asked subconsciously.
"Yes, someone saw him in person at Diagon Alley, and he killed more than one person." Mrs. Weasley said, as if she had just discovered Harry, "Dear, what are you doing here... Let's talk about this later, Molly." Sirius interrupted her, "It's strange. The Dark Lord didn't appear during the three Death Eater attacks on the Ministry of Magic, but now he suddenly shows up at Diagon Alley."
"It's probably because of the crown." Kingsley said, "That's the Ravenclaw Crown. Lord Voldemort would naturally covet it."
"But a crown, it can't be more important than their control of the Ministry of Magic, can it?" Lupin said quietly.
During the previous Death Eater attacks on the Ministry of Magic, he had always worried that Lord Voldemort would appear. If that were the case, the Aurors and the Hit Wizards couldn't stop them.
But that didn't happen.
Even though the Death Eaters failed three times, Lord Voldemort showed no intention of appearing.
Some speculated that he was doing something more important and had to give up on capturing the Ministry of Magic. This speculation also gained a lot of support.
Amelia Bones even considered moving a few Death Eaters within the Ministry of Magic to test Lord Voldemort's bottom line or to capture them all at once.
But before her plan could be implemented, Lord Voldemort appeared because of a crown.
Lupin's words also plunged the others into deep thought.
Yes, the crown must be important to him, but it couldn't compare to controlling the Ministry of Magic, could it? That was the greatest obstacle to Lord Voldemort's rule over the British magical world.
"The crown must be very important to him." Kingsley raised his head, "We must go too, no matter what, we can't let it fall into the Dark Lord's hands."
"No problem." Harry was the first to respond, indicating that he could team up with Sirius.
"I'll go with you, so you should be at ease now." He said.
Sirius moved his mouth, indicating reluctant agreement.
