Chapter 914: Deathly Hallows —— Resurrection Stone
Chapter 914: Deathly Hallows —— Resurrection Stone
When the Invisibility Cloak appeared in the enemy’s hands, Ivan finally understood just how troublesome this object could be.
However, one thing did puzzle him. When the Invisibility Cloak was with Harry, it would conceal the wearer’s form completely. Yet, Grindelwald seemed to be able to control it with ease...
Time ticked by, and Ivan split his focus. He used half his attention to suppress the magical surge within him and the other half to stay alert for any sudden attacks from Grindelwald.
Just as Ivan began to grow impatient and was about to cast a wide-area spell to force the enemy out, a strong sense of danger suddenly came from his right.
"Lightning!" Ivan turned his head and swiftly waved his wand. A bolt of blue lightning coalesced at the tip of his wand and shot toward the right!
The speed of the lightning was unimaginably fast. Grindelwald had just raised his wand to cast a spell when the crackling electric arc struck him first.
Grindelwald’s face turned grim. He had not expected the other to possess the ability to see through the Invisibility Cloak and took the full brunt of the spell.
Fortunately, the Invisibility Cloak provided excellent protection, shielding him from most of the lightning’s power. Even so, he could still feel the numbing sensation of the current coursing through his body.
Ivan, seizing the advantage and trusting his danger sense completely, shook his wand vigorously. Several invisible Magic Blades flew out.
Grindelwald’s wand flicked, and a large amount of debris instantly coalesced into a sturdy rock barrier, barely managing to block Ivan’s attack.
Rolf watched the battle between Ivan and an invisible foe from the side, unable to help. He clung tightly to the Thunderbird’s back to avoid falling from the sky.
Wait... where was Niffler?
Rolf, now with a moment to spare, suddenly remembered his pet and companion. He looked around frantically but found no sign of Niffler.
This made Rolf increasingly anxious. He feared that his partner might have fallen victim to the battle’s aftermath.
After several more circles, Rolf finally breathed a sigh of relief. Niffler was still alive, perched on the remains of the second floor, contemplating how to bypass the protective barrier in front of him.
Realizing what Niffler was up to, Rolf almost exploded with frustration. They were in the middle of a fight, and if they couldn’t stop Grindelwald, they would all be doomed. Yet, Niffler was still thinking about stealing treasures from the tomb.
Ivan was also in a difficult position. The Protection Mode had already passed the halfway mark, but his attacks on Grindelwald had not made much progress.
This was different from his previous battle with Voldemort. Ivan could clearly sense that, while he could suppress Grindelwald with his special state, he couldn’t defeat him.
If this continued, once the Protection Mode ended, it would be nearly impossible to overcome Grindelwald!
[Protection Mode remaining time: 00:15...]
The system’s warning sounded in Ivan’s mind. He raised his wand, determined to end the fight with a decisive blow. The alchemical device on his right wrist glowed, and a powerful thunderstorm formed almost instantly, fueled by a steady supply of magic.
Grindelwald's expression turned grave, and he almost pushed the Elder Wand to its limits. A heart-wrenching black Lumos gradually appeared on the wand.
Rolf, at this moment, could no longer think about the Niffler. The magic they both were preparing made him feel as if a great disaster was about to strike.
In the next second, Ivan and Grindelwald cast their spells almost simultaneously, and the two forces collided head-on.
An astonishing explosion then echoed through the room, which was no more than a few hundred square meters. Dozens of flashing arcs of electricity shot out in all directions, and a terrifying shockwave sent tables, chairs, the fireplace, and debris flying.
Rolf clung tightly to a handful of Thunderbird feathers to avoid being blown away. After barely enduring the most intense aftermath, he quickly looked toward Grindelwald. Such a terrifying attack should have killed even a legendary wizard, right?
However, Grindelwald still stood tall, seemingly not seriously injured. He had been forced out of his invisibility state, and the cloak that resembled silk had become quite dim, likely rendering it unusable for some time.
Ivan was also watching Grindelwald. He hadn't pursued because the large-scale magic he had just summoned had almost caused an imbalance in his power, and the powerful boost from Protection Mode had already dissipated during this brief pause.
The two men stared at each other, neither daring to make a move. However, the house, battered by the successive waves of the battle, was on the verge of collapse. Cracks appeared in the walls, and large stones kept falling from the ceiling.
"Is this place going to collapse?" Rolf looked around anxiously. If not for the Thunderbird's quick reaction, he would have been hit by a falling stone. Ivan's response only sank his heart further.
"Maybe worse..." Ivan glanced at the cracked walls. Beyond them was not a courtyard but a dark, deep Spatial Distortion, indicating that what was breaking was not just the house but the Independent Space constructed by Nicolas Flamel.
"What should we do? Should we temporarily cease the battle?" Rolf, clearly realizing the situation, asked urgently. He had already tried and found that Apparition was impossible within this independent space. If the entire space was swept into the chaos, they would all die here.
Ivan didn't answer. Even if they wanted to leave, Grindelwald wouldn't agree. Any sign of vulnerability would invite a storm of attacks. Similarly, he wouldn't let Grindelwald leave without a fight.
Crack...
A sharp sound suddenly broke the tense silence. Due to the entire space breaking apart, the magic barrier guarding the coffin shattered!
The Niffler, which had been waiting here through fire and lightning, was the most excited. The moment the magic barrier disappeared, it rushed in, climbed onto Nicolas Flamel's coffin, and clung tightly to the Diamond Crystal embedded in the wall.
However, before it could celebrate, a powerful suction force pulled it up.
"Niffler, come here!" Ivan, keenly aware of the Niffler's attempt to steal the Resurrection Stone, cast a spell to pull it over, preventing Grindelwald from taking it.
But the latter's reaction was just as swift. With a wave of the Elder Wand, the Niffler froze mid-air, caught between two powerful forces. The Niffler felt its body being torn apart.
