Chapter 913
Chapter 913
Beep~
The enraged Thunderbird naturally wouldn’t pass up this chance to strike while the iron was hot. Thunderlight flickered on its tail feathers, and within moments, it summoned a powerful Thunderstorm that sent Grindelwald plummeting into the abyss.
Without Grindelwald’s control, the Fiendfyre’s assault immediately slowed down. Constrained by the Ultimate Spell, it was quickly suppressed.
However, before Ivan could breathe a sigh of relief, the entire second floor began to shake. The floor beneath his feet cracked rapidly, and the fissures quickly spread across the entire level.
This place is collapsing...
“Quick, this way!” Rolf, riding the Thunderbird, flew over to Ivan, extending his right hand urgently.
Although Ivan had some aerial combat skills, he didn’t refuse Rolf’s offer and grabbed his hand, using the leverage to climb onto the Thunderbird’s broad back.
“Thank you, Mr. Scamander,” Ivan patted Rolf’s shoulder, deeply grateful.
“Don’t be so formal, call me Rolf!” Rolf smiled, pointing to the Thunderbird beneath them. “And I didn’t do much; it’s mostly thanks to him...”
The Thunderbird let out two proud calls, showcasing its presence.
“Alright, thank you too, Sir Thunderbird...” Ivan said with a hint of resignation.
As the two of them and the Thunderbird exchanged pleasantries, most of the second-floor tiles had already collapsed. Through the deep cracks, they could faintly see the scene below.
Rolf fervently hoped that Grindelwald would be crushed by the falling debris, ensuring their safety.
Unfortunately, things didn’t go as wished. The falling bricks and stones solidified mid-air, as if grasped by a giant hand, quickly converging and assembling. Within a few seconds, a nine-meter-tall Rock Giant appeared before them.
“Is Grindelwald’s Transfiguration really that good?” Ivan’s expression was grave. He knew Grindelwald was highly skilled in Dark Magic, but he hadn’t expected the man’s Transfiguration abilities to be equally formidable. Dumbledore might be on par with him.
“Now isn’t the time to think about that!” Rolf’s scalp tingled as the Rock Giant swung its massive hand toward them.
“Impediment Jinx!” Rolf gritted his teeth and shouted, summoning a Magic Barrier. However, before the Rock Giant, this protective layer was as thin as paper, and it was torn apart in less than a second.
The Thunderbird’s body crackled with electric arcs, and its speed increased, barely managing to fly past the giant’s hand.
Rolf lay flat on the Thunderbird’s back, feeling the rush of wind from above, experiencing the sensation of death looming over him.
“Think of something, Hals...” Rolf said anxiously. The brief defensive attempt had made it clear to him that Grindelwald’s power was far beyond his own. The gap between them was like that between a Niffler and a Dragon.
Their only hope now was the warlock in front of him, who was younger but more experienced.
“I’m thinking!” Ivan shot Rolf an irritated glance. After much hesitation, he decided to take a gamble; otherwise, the Resurrection Stone would surely fall into Grindelwald’s hands.
With his resolve set, Ivan took out two potion bottles from his pocket and began the final step of the Bloodline Fusion Potion on the Thunderbird’s back.
Nicolas Flamel’s cottage wasn’t large, and the Thunderbird’s movements were severely restricted in such a confined space. It couldn’t fully utilize its speed advantage and was in constant danger from the Rock Giant’s attacks.
Grindelwald seemed unwilling to prolong the confrontation any further. The dark blue Fiendfyre flared up again, surging from all directions and further compressing the Thunderbird's space to maneuver.
Rolf was nearly at his wit's end, while Ivan, standing beside him, hastily drank the potion he had just prepared.
The blue liquid gradually flowed down his throat and into his stomach. It tasted distinctly different from other Bloodline Fusion Potions, as if each drop carried a faint electrical charge. Ivan's body hair stood on end, and his mental perception became more acute.
However, this heightened state was far from comfortable, especially in the midst of battle. The sense of danger from all sides threatened to distract him.
Most importantly, the surge of first-year power quickly met resistance from the other forces within him, shattering the delicate balance he had maintained.
Ivan's face alternated between red and white as his magic began to surge uncontrollably. This unusual state naturally caught Rolf's attention.
"Are you okay, Hals?" Rolf asked urgently, having assumed that Ivan was preparing a potion like Felix Felicis. At this point, only the best luck could help them escape.
But Ivan looked like he was about to explode after drinking the potion, leading Rolf to suspect that Ivan might have taken the wrong potion in his haste.
Ivan didn't respond, focusing all his mental energy on controlling the magic surge. The Protection Mode had activated as soon as he drank the potion, but the conflict among the six bloodlines was too intense, and he couldn't suppress it immediately.
By the time Ivan managed to quell the first wave of magic surge, the dark blue Fiendfyre was already at their doorstep.
"Is this it... I never thought I'd die here", Rolf sighed bitterly. He had captured terrifying Runespoors, slept in dragon nests, and escaped death's grasp multiple times, but this time, it seemed he wouldn't be so lucky.
"It's not over yet; the fight is just beginning!" Ivan suddenly stood up straight on the Thunderbird's back, facing the approaching inferno with a calm expression. He raised his wand and spoke.
"Wind!"
At the same moment Ivan spoke, a powerful gust of wind appeared in the small room, pushing back the flames and even directing the Fiendfyre back toward its master.
Grindelwald's composed expression finally changed. He waved his wand to create a massive golden shield, and the Rock Giant retreated.
"Split apart!" Ivan's voice rang out again.
As if his words had the power of magic, the ground split open where his wand pointed, and the sea of flames was torn in two. The golden shield held for only a second before it was shattered.
Everything in front of them was forcibly separated, including the walls behind them.
Fortunately, Grindelwald managed to dodge. The Rock Giant, however, was cleanly bisected from head to toe and crumbled into a pile of rubble a moment later.
Grindelwald glanced at Ivan with a wary eye, then pulled up the hood of his cloak and disappeared from the room.
Just like that? Ivan furrowed his brow. Grindelwald had slipped out of his magical detection.
But this thought was quickly dismissed. Ivan realized that it must have been the effect of an Invisibility Cloak!
After all, Nicolas Flamel had set up extensive protective magic in this isolated space to prevent any disturbance after his death, prohibiting the use of Apparition. One could only leave by finding the correct Spatial Node.
