Chapter 913: Unseemly Conduct
Chapter 913: Unseemly Conduct
Kobra?
Arabasta King?!
This statement left all three stunned.
"Hahahahaha, you actually don’t know this? Even two Admirals are clueless? Has the Moer Gangs not spread the news? A ‘deceased’ person appeared during the World Meeting period!" Pizarro roared with laughter.
World Meeting…
"Didn’t the Revolutionary Army die?" Kuro turned to Yi Xiao.
Yi Xiao shook his head. "The old man isn’t sure whether they died or not, but their disappearance is confirmed. During the battle, flames engulfed the surrounding area, and they vanished—including three officers of the Revolutionary Army."
It wasn’t the so-called ‘Four Guardians’ reported in newspapers. Belo Betty hadn’t even gone to the World Meeting.
"What about Kobra?" Kuro frowned.
"Well, the old man doesn’t know either", Lucius Kro shrugged.
"As for me, the World Government hasn’t released any related news. However, I’m quite interested in what he mentioned about the Moer Gangs’ news", Yi Xiao said.
"Captain Kuro…"
At this moment, Wilbur approached. "Insect Country King Luo Wei brought a Moer Gangs-abandoned ship to David’s Opening Ceremony. Do you think this is related?"
"A Morgans Abandoned Ship?!"
Kuro paused, quickly piecing it together. "It’s about Kobra’s news?"
"Most likely", Klah adjusted his glasses, analyzing. "If the World Meeting announced a King’s death, the news might’ve been suppressed. A Morgans Abandoned Ship implies he’ll publish the news, but it hasn’t appeared yet."
"Hahahahaha, exactly!"
Pizarro exclaimed. "Kobra’s dead—I’m not sure if he’s truly dead. Princess Vivi seems to have disappeared too. This is an opportunity. Arabasta’s current situation is chaotic, at least unorganized yet. Marshall D. Teach plans to seek out ‘Pluton’ and gain strength!"
"Pluton. In Arabasta Territory? I’ve heard of this legendary weapon before", Yi Xiao mused.
"Oh~ how terrifying. People died at the World Meeting, yet the old man knew nothing!" Lucius Kro pouted exaggeratedly.
"What the hell!" Kuro’s expression darkened.
Could someone actually die at the World Meeting?
It couldn’t have been the Revolutionary Army. Kuro had some understanding of the incident. Arabasta’s Nefertari Royal Family, one of the original ‘Twenty Royal Families’ that founded the World Government, was the only family that refused to become world nobles in Mariejois. Perhaps the World Government turned against them due to some secret history they held.
But orchestrating such an act at the World Meeting itself—wasn’t that unseemly conduct? And if the Moer Gangs found out, it would inevitably leak to the world eventually.
Kuro felt a surge of anger. The Navy was trying to maintain order and peace, yet the higher-ups had just slapped them in the face.
Wasn’t this action utterly unfair? Where was the balance they’d been promised? The security?
"Broooobroooobroooo!"
Suddenly, the Transponder Snail communication device in a Navy officer’s hand rang out. He picked it up, and a deep voice emerged.
"Golden Lion, this is a World Government official. We’re issuing orders—regardless of what happens, return to Headquarters immediately."
"Tch!"
Kuro’s eyebrows twitched. Instinctively, he glanced around. Among the warships navigating alongside Golden Lion’s line, a Vice Admiral nearby had just hung up his own Transponder Snail.
That man was a World Government representative!
The Navy indeed had embedded World Government personnel—whether from CP or directly affiliated, there was no denying their presence. But the message had already been sent.
Still, it couldn’t be helped. Pizarro’s voice had been loud enough for nearby warships to hear.
"Golden Lion, did you hear that?!"
"Go shove it!" Kuro strode over and snatched the microphone from the officer. "You think the old man needs you to teach him his job? Who the hell do you think you are?!"
Bang!
With that, he slammed down the call, then turned back to face Lucius Kro and Yi Xiao.
"It can’t be helped", Lucius Kro mused, stroking his chin. "Perhaps major moves are coming. At times like this, we still need to follow orders from above, Kuro."
"Is the World Government hiding things from us too?" Yi Xiao tilted his head toward the sky, sighing.
Kuro sat on the ship’s railing, lighting another cigar. "Marshall D. Teach wants Pluton? Is that thing really hidden in Arabasta? Crocodile couldn’t find it after years of searching. What makes him think he can?"
But regardless, this man had his own channels.
This man was patient yet bold, never acting without purpose.
"Hahahaha, this news of mine isn’t bad, huh? You all seem shocked. Hey, Golden Lion, considering this news, you should just—"
Zzzt!
Before he could finish, a flash of black radiance sliced through his neck at blinding speed, severing Pizarro’s head.
Kuro stood behind Pizarro, sheathing his blade, cigar clenched between his teeth. "You’re useless now."
With Marshall D. Teach refusing to come himself yet setting off for Arabasta, the purpose of escorting Pizarro no longer existed.
Whether he died now or later, better to eliminate him swiftly—avoid complications, avoid the World Government asking for the prisoner later.
But if he himself intended to head to Arabasta to seek out Pluton, the higher-ups would certainly act. The battlefield might shift there soon…
Mariejois.
The Five Elders.
"The Navy knows the news already. That prisoner Pizarro leaked it."
The Red-Skinned Elder clasped his hands. "Damn Moer Gangs, rejecting our offer and letting pirates learn the news first. Now the Navy knows too."
"Once actions are taken, leaks are inevitable. It’s our mistake", the Curly-Haired Elder said. "But why did Lucius Kro want to capture Pizarro? He didn’t even inform us beforehand."
"It seems he wasn’t the one who captured him", the Bearded Elder replied. "It was someone aspiring to be a Seven Warlords of the Sea. He captured Pizarro for that status. Kuro merely followed Navy procedures. We can’t blame him."
"Leave Navy matters be. They’re just the government’s outer facade. The real issue is Blackbeard—does he know where Pluton is hidden in Arabasta?" the Map-Faced Elder said gravely.
The Blade-Wielding Elder polished his sword, indifferent. "Regardless, we must fortify Arabasta and prevent Blackbeard from succeeding. Knowing his destination is already sufficient."
"The Red-Skinned Elder suggested, "We could wait until he finds Pluton before striking. That way, we claim Pluton too."
"Another Marineford-scale conflict?" the Curly-Haired Elder murmured.
"Balance can’t be sustained forever. The best we can do is make the most beneficial decisions for the present", the Bearded Elder concluded.
"Decided then. Recall the Navy to Headquarters and dispatch forces to Arabasta", the Map-Faced Elder nodded.
