Chapter 912: The Powerful Grindelwald
Chapter 912: The Powerful Grindelwald
Grindelwald seemed unsurprised by this. He gently tapped his wand and spoke slowly, "I had no intention of disturbing this place, but unfortunately, your Master took something that did not belong to him..."
"Resurrection Stone?!" Ivan turned his head slightly to look at the diamond-shaped crystal embedded in the wall, instantly confirming Grindelwald's intent.
"The creator of the Resurrection Stone is long dead, so there is no Master to speak of. Since Headmaster Dumbledore chose to give the Resurrection Stone to Master Nicolas Flamel, it is his property..." Ivan added.
"Give? I doubt it..." A mocking smile appeared on Grindelwald's face.
Ivan was momentarily taken aback, then he gave Grindelwald a deep look. Dumbledore had not given the Resurrection Stone to Nicolas Flamel; he had only asked him to repair it. But this information should have been known only to the deceased Nicolas Flamel, Dumbledore, and himself.
Could it be that Grindelwald really obtained this information from Dumbledore?
"I do not intend to be your enemy, Hals... We should not be enemies." Grindelwald took a step closer, his voice low and raspy. "The power we possess should be used for more important things..."
"Like ruling Muggles? Or controlling the world?" Ivan asked with a cold laugh.
"More precisely, to place the right people in the right positions..." Grindelwald corrected. "Conflict is inevitable. Even if Wizards have no ill intentions, our existence is a real threat to Muggles!"
Ivan remained silent, unaffected by these few words.
Grindelwald's expression was clearly one of regret. "It's a shame you've chosen the wrong path. This place is fitting, then, as your final resting place..."
"If you can, then try it..." Ivan's patience had reached its limit. As he spoke, he raised his wand and swung it forcefully.
"Serpensortia!"
Facing Grindelwald, Ivan dared not be the slightest bit careless. The Alchemical Device on his right wrist glowed faintly, and with the aid of powerful magic, a terrifying Giant Serpent, nearly ninety feet long, writhed out of the wand tip, opening its mouth to bite at Grindelwald.
Grindelwald remained calm. Without any visible movement, tendrils of Azure Flame appeared before him, coalescing into a massive fireball that shot into the Giant Serpent's mouth.
The next moment, a violent explosion echoed through the air. The intense shockwave instantly extinguished the burning torches around them, and even the sturdy stone base cracked with fine fissures.
Amidst the billowing smoke and dust, the massive Giant Serpent was blown in half, its crimson blood raining down like a shower.
Suddenly, a white light flickered in the distance, swiftly flying toward them. A spectral white beast, its spiraling horn glowing faintly, stepped through the mist...
It was the Unicorn Shadow...
Grindelwald was well aware of the difficulty of this magic. He gripped the Elder Wand tightly and gave it a forceful shake. The floating blood droplets in the air responded, forming a thick rope that tightly bound the Unicorn Shadow.
However, this came at a cost, as the blood bead's tether was visibly being consumed.
Before Grindelwald could cast again, three invisible Magic Blades emerged from the smoke and dust. Although invisible to the naked eye, Grindelwald could easily track their movements with his Magic senses and dodged them effortlessly.
After a few brief exchanges, Grindelwald, who had been on the defensive, suddenly spoke up.
"If this is all you've got, then you'll stay here today."
Grindelwald lifted his wand, and a surge of deep blue Fiendfyre erupted from the tip. In mere seconds, it transformed into a sea of flames that surged forward like a tidal wave.
Ivan's expression grew grave, and he swiftly traced a line with his wand. A barrier of Grim White Flames rose into the air, and the two differently colored Fiendfyres collided, consuming each other. The heat wave they generated stripped away layers of stone from the ground, causing the entire building to tremble.
With the power of the Elder Wand, the Fiendfyre Grindelwald unleashed was terrifyingly intense. For the first time, Ivan found himself at a disadvantage in a flame contest, and he could only maintain his barrier by continuously casting.
Crimson Dragon Scales gradually appeared on Ivan's face, enhancing the power of his spell to some extent. Even so, the deep blue fire sea continued to advance inch by inch.
However, this seemed to be far from Grindelwald's limit. Three Spell Beams quickly pierced through the flames and flew toward Ivan.
Ivan's face changed, and he dispersed into a cloud of flame to avoid the attack. His heart sank as he realized that Grindelwald's power was even greater than he had anticipated. This feeling of being completely overwhelmed was something he had only experienced once before, during his battle with Dumbledore.
Without a continuous supply of Magic, the white flame barrier was almost instantly breached, and a surge of heat swept over him. Countless Fiendfyre-shaped beasts, like demons from Hell, howled in the raging fire.
"Ultimate Spell!" Ivan took a step back, wand pointed forward, and a mysterious, formidable power radiated from him in all directions, momentarily suppressing the blue fire sea.
But Ivan knew this was only a temporary measure. Grindelwald had shaped the Fiendfyre into a ring, completely surrounding him. Clearly, the intent was to cut off his escape.
At this critical moment, a golden bird suddenly burst into the scene. Upon seeing Grindelwald in the flames, it spread its wings and let out an angry screech, followed by several thick bolts of lightning that struck Grindelwald.
Grindelwald, who had intended to trap Ivan to death, was forced to halt and defend against the Thunderbird's attack.
Seizing the moment when Grindelwald was distracted, Ivan reduced his focus on the Ultimate Spell and channeled most of his Magic into his wand.
"Dissendium~ (Separate Left and Right)!" Ivan shouted fiercely. With the immense power of Magic behind it, this simple spell, which even Young Wizards could easily master, demonstrated unimaginable force.
Deep cracks spread like a spider web across the floor tiles, following Ivan's wand movements. Almost instantly, the floor beneath Grindelwald's feet collapsed entirely...
