Chapter 910: Three Hallows
Chapter 910: Three Hallows
"Reducto"
"Petrificus"
The other two warlocks reacted just as quickly, frantically drawing their wands and pointing them at the suddenly appearing Cheetah. Several spell beams shot out in an instant.
Ivan didn't dodge or evade; his form dissolved into a flame, and the light beams passed right through him.
"What kind of magic is this?" The warlocks who witnessed this scene could hardly believe their eyes. Before they could figure out what was happening, the flame charged towards them.
A loud explosion echoed through the woods, and the three warlocks were blasted away by the rising flames.
The flame then gradually coalesced, and Ivan's figure reappeared on the clearing.
"Remarkable..." Rolf emerged from his hiding spot, looking at the chaos around him. He silently put away his wand and couldn't help but marvel.
He was starting to believe that the European Daily's headline wasn't exaggerating. The other party had likely defeated three elite Aurors in a face-to-face battle upon graduation.
Crackling sounds of electric arcs suddenly filled the air. Ivan turned his head and saw the Thunderbird on the right, crouched low and emitting low, rumbling cries—a defensive stance, sensing the threat.
"You calm it down!" Ivan said to Rolf, then strode over to the warlock he had slapped away earlier, grabbing the man's collar and forcing him to look into his eyes.
[Legilimency!]
The warlock had been planning to resist, but after being clawed and dazed, he was completely entranced the moment he met Ivan's gaze.
Fragmented memories flooded Ivan's mind.
After scanning through the warlock's most vivid memories from the past few months, Ivan's expression turned grim.
He now understood why Grindelwald had suddenly come to France—Grindelwald was searching for Nicolas Flamel's residence, or more specifically, the Resurrection Stone!
This was the last of the Three Hallows. If Grindelwald got his hands on it, Ivan couldn't predict the consequences, but he was certain they would be disastrous!
However, Ivan was puzzled as to how Grindelwald knew the Resurrection Stone was in Nicolas Flamel's safe house and how he had determined the location of the spatial node.
Nicolas Flamel had taken extensive precautions before his death to avoid any disturbances, even erasing the coordinates from his own mind. He had been incredibly cautious, and it didn't make sense for Grindelwald to have this information.
Could Dumbledore have told him? Ivan considered this but found it unlikely. Dumbledore had no reason to betray his old friend.
"Did you find anything?" Rolf approached and asked.
"Grindelwald has entered the residence of Alchemical Master Nicolas Flamel. I need to stop him!" Ivan said, walking towards the location where Grindelwald had stood in the warlock's memory. He closed his eyes, sensing the residual magic traces in the area.
Since the entrance had been opened just a few minutes ago using a rather violent method, the Magic traces were still very prominent. Ivan could sense them clearly, so he didn't need to make the extensive preparations that Grindelwald had.
A moment later, Ivan opened his eyes and swiftly waved his wand, causing the dark spatial passage to materialize.
"Do you really plan to go in like this, Hals? Since we know his intentions, it would be best to inform the Ministry of Magic and let them handle it!" Rolf urged, though he was surprised by Ivan's strength. Grindelwald, after all, was a notorious Dark Lord, and the two of them charging in would be no different from suicide.
"There's no time. Nicolas Flamel is my Master, and I will not stand by and let Grindelwald desecrate his grave and home", Ivan said firmly.
If he had any thoughts of merely observing or fleeing earlier, now all that remained was the resolve to stop Grindelwald at all costs!
Besides, Grindelwald had been in France for at least two months. Who knew if he had informants within the French Ministry of Magic? By the time they made the round trip, Grindelwald would have already achieved his goal!
With that in mind, Ivan stepped into the passage without hesitation. Before he left, he didn't forget to instruct Rolf to keep an eye on the unconscious Dark Wizards.
Rolf waved his wand, conjuring several ropes to bind the Dark Wizards. The Niffler perched on his shoulder, however, was pawing anxiously at the direction of the spatial passage, having caught the scent of treasure.
"Do you think we should go help too?" Rolf soothed the Niffler, muttering to himself. He was equally uneasy about letting Ivan go alone, but with his own abilities, he doubted he could be of much help.
"Wait... maybe there is a chance", Rolf suddenly glanced at the Thunderbird bound beside him. He had witnessed the Thunderbird's terrifying Thunderstorm in the forest, which would be a significant asset.
Moreover, the Thunderbird was incredibly fast and could carry them to safety in an emergency.
After some consideration, Rolf forcefully waved his wand, breaking the chains that bound the Thunderbird. Having treated its injuries and gained its trust, he wasn't worried about it attacking him.
"I know you don't like Wizards much, but we're going to deal with the one who attacked you, so we need your help", Rolf said patiently, approaching the Thunderbird step by step. He gently stroked its golden feathers and tentatively climbed onto its back.
Seemingly understanding Rolf's words, the Thunderbird didn't throw him off. It generated a few bolts of lightning to widen the nearly closed passage, then flapped its wings and carried Rolf through it.
...
After a brief spatial teleportation, Ivan found himself in a spacious courtyard.
Unlike his previous visits, this place was severely damaged. The knight statues at the entrance were shattered into several pieces, and the fragments of the Alchemical Creatures that had tended the garden littered the ground.
Clearly, they had fought bravely but failed to stop the intruders.
A large hole had been blasted through the wall of the house ahead, and a dark blue Fiendfyre was licking at the edges. Ivan spent a few seconds extinguishing the Fiendfyre to prevent the entire house from burning down, then gripped his wand and stepped inside...
