Chapter 91
Chapter 91
Feng Bu Jue was overjoyed. While the skill's effect differed from the outward-projected attack technique he'd imagined, its practical combat strength was undeniable. Without hesitation, he learned and equipped the skill, prompting another system message:
[This is your spirit energy value, displayed numerically. Spirit arts skills consume this value, which can only be restored through rest or specific items/events in scenarios. Spirit energy cannot be replenished via system shop potions. Current spirit energy: 140/140.]
As the voice spoke, the game menu materialized before Feng Bu Jue's eyes. An arrow pointed to the upper-left corner of the interface, where a silver-white energy bar emerged beneath his stamina bar.
"Huh... So this unlocks only after learning a skill?" he muttered. Though the game manual had explained spirit energy mechanics, he'd wondered why the new bar hadn't appeared until now. Level 10 minus 4 equaled 140 points. Compared to stamina, this number was only a tenth of the usual value. Stamina drained from basic actions like walking, running, or fighting, while spirit energy served only skills - making massive numbers unnecessary.
After claiming bonus experience and a skill card, Feng Bu Jue prepared to queue for another scenario. With real-world time still under 5 PM, completing his tenth level-up objective before dinner seemed possible. Though unconfirmed officially, player forums suggested Non-Sleep Mode scenarios rarely lasted excessively long. Scenarios requiring eight+ virtual hours typically appeared only in Sleep Mode.
He hurried back to the Login Space to contact Si Yu, but she was shopping and hadn't responded. The screen displayed: [Your friend isn't replying. They may be outside their Login Space. Use text chat?]
"Ready in the Login Space? Contact me when back", Feng Bu Jue typed. The system required all party members to be in their Login Spaces for queueing - a rule he knew well.
Si Yu returned quickly, calling him. "Find anything good?" he asked.
"Auction house wasn't interesting. I bought robes at the system shop with a spiritual regeneration speed bonus", she replied.
Feng Bu Jue raised an eyebrow. He'd expected her focusing solely on martial arts. But robe attributes were random - maybe regeneration offered the best value among her options. Perhaps she pursued both martial and spirit arts? Diversification made sense; specializing in just one proficiency was inefficient.
"Right. Guild creation needs three signatures, but we're only two. Logging on tonight?"
"You... plus me... makes less than three?" Si Yu countered, her question more awkward than explanatory.
"Hmm... Yeah", Feng Bu Jue dragged his response.
"Let me guess... Wang Tan Zhi, Long Ao Min, and 'Little Bone' are your only friends besides me?" she continued.
Feng Bu Jue recognized "Little Bone" as her nickname for Bei Ling Xiao Gu. Pretending to think, he hissed through his teeth before sighing, "Yeah..."
"This complicates things. My friend list isn't much better."
Feng Bu Jue mentally groaned. Outwardly, he chuckled weakly, "So... you'll log on tonight? I'm not sure about Long Ge, but Xiao Tan should be online. Adding you and Bei Ling would make three."
"Sure", she agreed. "But we won't stay long. Prolonged nerve connection harms health - you should remember that."
"Hey! I only played an hour before meeting you! Don't assume I'm some addict!" he raged internally, replying flatly, "Thanks for caring."
"Eating on schedule matters too. After this scenario, it'll be 5-6 PM. Better log off to eat", she added calmly.
"I was planning to anyway! Who wastes meals over games? Am I a teenager?" He silently seethed, gesturing wildly in his elevator. "I'll just seem ungrateful if I log off now!"
If they were closer friends, he'd vent endlessly. Instead, he settled for, "I know."
The conversation felt like maternal scolding. He changed topics: "Let's queue. Dinner plans, remember?"
"Fine", she said shortly.
Relieved, Feng Bu Jue exhaled and resumed menu operations.
