Chapter 91: Preparing for Battle
Chapter 91: Preparing for Battle
After leaving the Emerald Dream and returning to reality, Liam opened his Pocket Watch to find that although he had spent almost an hour in the Emerald Dream, only a few minutes had passed in the real world.
Although it was still early, Liam felt he had gained so much tonight that he bid Bettie farewell and prepared to return to the castle to sleep. He needed to organize his thoughts.
Bettie told Liam that the Centaur Clan was planning to clear out the Giant Octo-Eyed Spiders again soon. She hoped that Liam could enter the Emerald Dream every night so she could leave him messages.
In fact, after learning the correct method to enter the Emerald Dream, Liam had planned to do so daily. On one hand, the environment of the Emerald Dream was very soothing. On the other hand, he could save time by using it to study and master his magic.
However, what annoyed Liam was that with his current strength, he could not stay in the Emerald Dream for more than two hours of dream time without gradually being assimilated by nature.
When Bettie learned of this time limit, she was also surprised. In her experience, most beginners could barely last half an hour.
Liam suspected that this was due to his soul being tempered by the trials of plane traversal, and the Mao Mountain Purity Heart Method he practiced now placed a greater emphasis on spiritual training compared to the magic in the Harry Potter world.
After bidding Bettie farewell, Liam smoothly returned to his dormitory.
In the following days, Liam went about his regular school routine, doing homework and participating in study groups in the Common Room at night. It's worth mentioning that when Ginny and Colin learned that Harry Potter was also in the group, they strongly requested to join.
Liam had to lay down some ground rules, insisting they not disrupt others during discussions.
This advice from an upperclassman was very effective. Even Colin, a fervent fan, left his camera in his dormitory. Liam had previously threatened to kick him out of the group if he dared to disturb anyone.
Unlike last year, this year the group included new students. As a result, each second-year student not only discussed their own homework but also helped the newcomers. While this was not mandatory, many second-year students were willing to assist when they had the time, with Hermione being the most active. She believed that teaching the new students helped her review past material.
After hearing this, Liam concluded that academic geniuses were truly terrifying. He now desperately wished for a guest who could enhance his learning ability. Despite the improvements in his memory, analytical skills, and concentration from practicing the Mao Mountain Purity Heart Method, he still couldn't match Hermione's natural talent.
Besides this, Liam returned to his dormitory earlier each night, using the excuse of sleep to head to the Emerald Dream for his practice.
On Thursday, as soon as he entered the Emerald Dream, he noticed a green light flying toward him. He reached out and caught it. The green light contained a letter from Bettie. She informed Liam that the battle would take place this Saturday and urged him to prepare in advance.
Liam dared to catch the green light directly because the area where he was standing was protected by special magic, ensuring no malicious entities could approach.
When Liam first entered the Emerald Dream from Hogwarts, he was surprised to find himself standing on a tall tower, which was enveloped in a purple protective barrier.
On the tower, he discovered a plaque. The inscription indicated that if any student from Hogwarts could enter the Emerald Dream, this tower would serve as their sanctuary within the dream realm.
What surprised Liam the most was the signature at the bottom of the inscription, bearing the names of the Hogwarts Founders.
No wonder the founders of Hogwarts were so powerful. Not only had they left their mark across various planes, but they had also created a favorable environment for their successors.
After searching the entire tower, Liam unexpectedly found some records on a stone at the base. Each Wizard who reached this place had inscribed their name and the date of their first arrival.
Most of the names were pseudonyms, but a few real names still made Liam nervous, such as the name of Archmage Merlin.
Moreover, based on the dates left behind, it was evident that the number of Hogwarts Wizards who could enter the Emerald Dream had been decreasing over time. From a peak of two per year, it had dwindled to none in recent years. Liam noticed that the last person to leave a record had done so in 1861.
It seemed that as human civilization advanced, the ability to manipulate nature grew stronger. Fewer Wizards were able to grasp the harmony with nature and the power to enter the Emerald Dream. It was hard to say whether this was good or bad for human Wizards.
In subsequent visits to the Emerald Dream, Liam found that he always appeared in this tower. When he began to explore the surroundings, the purple barrier did not impede his movements at all. It appeared that as long as one was recognized as a student of the school, the barrier would not affect them.
In the Emerald Dream, Liam spent most of his time practicing magic, with the rest devoted to battle planning with the Centaurs. Thanks to the Emerald Dream, they could communicate without outsiders knowing.
After making some adjustments to the Centaurs' plan, Liam plucked a leaf from the air and used his fingers to inscribe a message on it. With a snap of his fingers, the leaf folded into a paper airplane and flew toward the Forbidden Forest.
This was the first nature-related spell Liam had learned. It allowed communication with those in the Emerald Dream who were within a short distance. During their previous interactions, Bettie had taught Liam some nature magic, including this spell, on the first day.
Liam discovered that Nature Magic and Dark Magic shared a commonality: both required inner strength and subtly influenced the user during their use.
Liam believed that Bettie's teaching of Nature Magic might be an attempt by the Centaurs to draw him to their side. However, he did not mind this.
Especially since Bettie believed that the actions of intelligent beings were part of the natural cycle and did not reject man-made items. Unlike many male Centaurs who were extremists and carried nothing but their bows and arrows, Bettie's approach was more acceptable to Liam.
After handling these matters, Liam devoted the rest of his time to studying magic. After all, another battle was coming up on Saturday, and last-minute preparation was not a bad strategy.
