Chapter 909: The Terrifying Thunderstorm and Spatial Node
Chapter 909: The Terrifying Thunderstorm and Spatial Node
In the depths of the jungle, on a clearing, two warlocks had just finished setting up a Protective Charm. They then turned to the leading wizard and spoke.
"Grindelwald, the magic array you requested is ready."
"Excellent! You've done a great job..." Grindelwald stepped forward, patting each of them on the shoulder in approval. He then turned to look at the captured Thunderbird.
After being severely beaten, the Thunderbird no longer displayed its former haughty demeanor. It looked utterly pitiful, with a long wound stretching from its chest to its left wing, red blood seeping out and staining its tail feathers a golden red.
To prevent the Thunderbird from escaping, the wizards had used Transfiguration to create several massive chains to bind it tightly. Combined with the Weakness Curse and the Protective Charms surrounding the area, the Thunderbird found it nearly impossible to move, let alone escape.
"We can't afford to delay. Get ready; we're starting now", Grindelwald said.
The four warlocks exchanged glances, cast Protego on themselves, and then cautiously retreated to a distant corner.
"Let your anger out, let me see your power..." Grindelwald gazed at the massive Thunderbird before him, gently waving his wand to remove the Weakness Curse.
With its ability to move restored, the Thunderbird glared at Grindelwald with golden eyes filled with rage. It raised its six wings high and let out a piercing screech. Magic flowed through it, and dozens of thick lightning bolts immediately crashed down from the sky!
The flashing arcs of lightning converged, instantly sparking a thunderstorm. Shockwaves accompanied by deafening booms swept in all directions, and the swift, dangerous lightning spread like a spider's web.
The four wizards, despite having prepared their defenses, were still affected. Their sturdy Protego charms nearly shattered instantly under the force of nature.
Fortunately, the Protective Charms they had set up earlier came into play, with strong magical barriers rising from the ground, forming four walls that isolated the thunderstorm area.
Seeing that the terrifying thunderstorm had not broken through the final defense, the wizards breathed a sigh of relief, looking at the figure in the center of the thunderstorm with a mix of worry and reverence.
Grindelwald's body was illuminated by several Magic Lumos. The dense lightning that entered his surroundings quickly subsided, and the silk-like cloak he wore seemed to possess a mystical quality, effectively shielding him from the intense heat generated by the thunderstorm.
Grindelwald stood quietly in the center of the thunderstorm, searching for the hidden Spatial Node. Under the influence of such a terrifying thunderstorm, some deeply hidden magical traces would become visible.
"The intensity is not enough!" Grindelwald abruptly opened his eyes, raised the Elder Wand, and incanted.
"Crucio~ (Crucio)"
The Thunderbird let out a series of anguished cries. Continuous lightning bolts fell from the dark clouds, causing thunder to boom, and the flashing arcs of lightning became even more dense. Fine cracks began to appear on the originally sturdy Magic Barrier.
The four Wizards hiding at the periphery felt their scalps tingle. They silently prayed that the Magic Barrier would hold firm and instinctively took a few steps back.
Grindelwald's lips curled into a smile. As the Thunderstorm intensified, he could already feel the connection point between the two spaces becoming more distinct...
At that moment, Grindelwald precisely raised the Elder Wand and thrust it towards the connection point. It was as if he had punctured a bubble, and the spreading ripples radiated out in all directions. Before long, a passage roughly three meters wide and high appeared before everyone's eyes.
The terrifying arcs of lightning gradually subsided. The continuous summoning of lightning had left the already injured Thunderbird in a weakened state. More importantly, it had realized that its various tactics were ineffective against the Wizard, and instead, had inadvertently helped the Wizard achieve his goal.
The Magic Barrier surrounding them shattered with a loud crack. The Wizards cautiously gathered around, seeking Grindelwald's instructions for the next step of the Quest.
"Stay here and don't let anyone else in", Grindelwald said straightforwardly, then strode into the dark Magic passage.
He was heading to the residence and burial site of an Alchemical Master, where various dangerous magic traps were bound to be present. It was unnecessary to risk additional lives.
After Grindelwald left, the temporarily opened, unstable passage slowly began to close.
...
"Such a terrifying Thunderstorm, what is Grindelwald planning?" In the woods several hundred meters away, Ivan stared in shock at the lightning continuously striking the sky, muttering to himself.
He didn't believe that the captured Thunderbird could put up such a fierce resistance against Grindelwald. This had to be intentional on Grindelwald's part!
Or perhaps, he captured the Thunderbird specifically to create this Thunderstorm!
Ivan thought to himself, quickening his pace. The commotion ahead was so intense that even without the scent of blood in the air, he knew where the Thunderbird was.
The closer he got, the more familiar the surrounding forest became. He felt like he had been here before...
As Ivan was pondering, four warlocks came into view ahead...
Grindelwald didn't seem to be present, which Ivan confirmed at first glance. However, he couldn't determine if Grindelwald had already left or if this was a trap...
Recalling the Thunderstorm and looking at the desolate scene ahead, ravaged by lightning and shockwaves, Ivan quickly concluded that this was probably not a trap. Otherwise, there would be no need for such a show.
After a brief pause, Rolf caught up from behind, crouching low in the bushes. He glanced at the four Wizards nearby and said, "I'll take the left, you take the right, one each!"
"No need! Just stay hidden..." Ivan declined Rolf's offer and, as he spoke, leaped out from his hiding spot.
The Cheetah's speed was already astonishing, and with the enhancement of Magic, it was nothing but a blur. The nearest Wizard didn't even have time to react before being swatted away by a single claw.
"Enemy attack, it's a Wizard!"
The Wizards who accompanied Grindelwald were all elite. Despite the attack happening in an instant, someone immediately noticed something was amiss. A normal Cheetah could never run that fast, let alone swat a person away with a single claw.
There was only one possibility—the attacker was an Animagus...
