Chapter 906: Clear Flower Dispelling Void Purity
Chapter 906: Clear Flower Dispelling Void Purity
Moon Rhinoceros exhaled a large cloud of mist from its mouth, making its massive figure appear hazy. Suddenly, it lowered its head and leaned forward, aiming its horn at Chen Chuan's direction. It charged forward and, upon reaching a certain distance, swung its golden melon hammer towards him.
Chen Chuan took a step back, dodging the hammer's swing. Seeing that the attack had missed, he quickly recovered and stepped forward, deflecting the hammer's head with his own. This move was both swift and steady, almost instantly redirecting the hammer to his front.
Moon Rhinoceros' body became even larger, but its control over its strength seemed more fluid and effortless than before. Its speed also increased, making its attacks more threatening.
Chen Chuan could tell that, although there were three consciousnesses within its body at that moment, the other two did not interfere with the specifics of the combat. They purely provided additional support to the main consciousness.
After dodging those two attacks, Chen Chuan had a rough understanding of this person's situation. Their ability was relatively enhanced, but that was all.
He raised his longsword to block, deflecting the golden melon hammer that was about to stab him and, in the same motion, stirred it, causing the spiritual flame on the hammer to rub and extinguish upon contact. Surprisingly, this caused the hammer to spin halfway.
Moon Rhinoceros reacted quickly, knowing that if Chen Chuan continued stirring it, a slight pull would cause the copper hammer to slip from its grasp. Without waiting for the outcome, it lowered its head, aiming its horn at Chen Chuan.
At that moment, the red scarf around Chen Chuan's body fluttered, and a veiled, red-clad woman with lively eyes appeared on the other side of Moon Rhinoceros. She brandished a goose-quill saber, aiming straight for his neck. A flickering red flame danced along the blade's edge.
Moon Rhinoceros had not anticipated this sudden change, but he could tell that the figure was not a mere illusion but a being akin to a divine aspect.
He dared not let the attack land and immediately raised his arm's armor to block. However, the red-clad woman's saber technique was exquisite. Her swift and fierce strike, upon reaching the arm's armor, became exceptionally nimble, pressing down on the armor as the spiritual flame and blade's edge touched. In an instant, he was pinned to the spot.
Chen Chuan, in that moment, took a swift step forward, dodging the descending horn above. He rushed into the inner space, placing his saber on his shoulder and spinning his body. A saber light followed, spinning with his movement!
Moon Rhinoceros, having sensed something amiss earlier, had already retreated, but it was too late. The three layers of spiritual light surrounding its body were torn apart like thin paper by that saber slash, and a chill ran down its waist as the saber cleaved through half of its waist!
For a fighter, such an injury was not particularly severe. Given time, Moon Rhinoceros could rely on its powerful recovery ability to restore itself. However, in the heat of battle, even the slightest flaw could prove fatal.
Chen Chuan paused briefly to gather his strength, aiming at the retreating figure. He took a step forward, holding the saber with both hands. With a swift backhand lift, the saber light flashed from Moon Rhinoceros' hip to its head. After this strike, Chen Chuan maintained the final motion of the lift, and a white golden aura rippled around his body.
Moon Rhinoceros trembled, and its entire body froze. A crack appeared in the middle of the spiritual flame, and soon all the light rapidly receded. A vertical bloodstain emerged and quickly expanded, and the body, now split in two, fell to either side.
Chen Chuan's expression remained calm. This was how fighters clashed—a single flaw or a moment's hesitation could decide the outcome in an instant.
Red Veil's strike on the side required little effort. With just a slight restraint, she could expose her opponent's weakness, and a single saber strike could end it all, skipping many unnecessary steps.
At that moment, two vague shadows emerged from the severed body, each flying off to one side.
Chen Chuan was prepared. With a thought, his spiritual light expanded like the sun, and in an instant, two divine aspects appeared on either side of him, slowing their departure.
He punched towards the left, hitting one of the shadows directly. The figure shattered under the impact of the spiritual light.
The other shadow attempted to escape, but Red Veil's shadow flashed, intercepting it. The next moment, a saber light flashed, slicing it apart. It exploded into fragments of light and mist.
Chen Chuan brought the saber back, steadying his stance. Red Veil spun, and the red scarf fell onto his neck again, fluttering in the sea breeze.
He looked towards the forest behind the beach, recalling that two of his attackers had been divine aspects. One of them had even summoned a second shell, so perhaps the other had one too.
Then...
He took a step towards the forest, and his figure instantly vanished.
On the beach, in the dense forest, Noce took a deep breath and stood up from his half-seated position.
His eyes were filled with uncertainty, unsure of what had just transpired. But based on his experience, he knew the mission had mostly failed. He endured the headache from the divine aspects, supporting his body with sheer willpower. Without taking anything but his weapon, he rushed back the way he had come.
He was in his original body, but he couldn't employ the same methods as the Tuner. The latter possessed the secret teachings of the Precision Cult, a technique he hadn't mastered. Otherwise, he would have quickly regained some of his Divine Aspect and left his physical body behind.
He had barely taken a few steps outside when a dazzling light appeared from behind, filling him with dread. He knew the enemy had caught up, likely the target they had planned to ambush.
The Tuner and Moon Rhinoceros were probably done for.
He dodged to the side, whipping out a short sword he had prepared earlier. Guessing the target had an extreme obsession with weapons, he had gone to great lengths to find this particular sword, hoping it would distract his pursuer and aid his escape.
But as the newcomer glanced at him without any acknowledgment, he realized his information was flawed, or he had misinterpreted something. He cursed silently.
There was no time for further thought. He used a concealment technique, and his spiritual flame flickered, causing him to vanish into thin air.
The next instant, the pursuing light exposed him, and he seized the moment to approach Chen Chuan, thrusting his short dagger towards him. The light revealed his ferocious visage.
Before he could complete his move, Chen Chuan deflected the dagger with a flick of his hand and, in the same motion, punched him in the chest with a force that instantly extinguished the spiritual flame and shattered half his body.
Noce's head, along with half his shoulder, flew off with a crack, landing on the ground. Watching the approaching footsteps, he spoke rapidly, "I can tell you some things, and I can testify about the mastermind behind it all..."
Chen Chuan stopped before him, his voice calm. "Sorry, I don't have time to listen." He raised his foot and stomped, crushing Noce's entire head with a sickening crunch.
Gazing at the mixture of implants and body parts beneath his foot, he pondered. The mastermind behind this was either the Municipal Parliament or the Original Person Company. He just needed to take these bodies, with their altered organisms and implants, back for analysis, and their origins would be revealed.
Furthermore, someone who fought to the death like this would only use words to save themselves. They couldn't possibly reveal everything, and keeping them alive would only cause more trouble.
He swiftly dealt with Noce, then scanned his surroundings to ensure no other enemies were present. He retrieved Noce's short dagger, cleaned it, and sheathed it in his cloak. With a wave of his hand, the short sword Noce had thrown earlier floated up from the ground into his grasp.
Examining the sword, he noted its age, adorned with beautiful wave patterns on the blade and a hilt made from Fusion Land's iron wood, featuring intricate, natural textures. At first glance, it was impressive, and upon closer inspection, it revealed exquisite details, making it a valuable collectible, especially as an unused transmutation weapon.
He wondered why the opponent had thrown it. Perhaps they knew of his fondness for weaponry and hoped to spare their life with this offering? In that case, it was unfortunate.
He secured the sword and proceeded to inspect the trio's belongings.
Each of the three had a suitcase, which he opened and examined. Most notable were the ample provisions, sufficient for three people's consumption for two months.
The food was of high quality, fresh, and could be stored for half a year without issue. There were also rare medications for emergency energy replenishment and altered organisms and organs, likely valuable trophies from their hunting endeavors.
Reflecting, he decided not to waste them, even if he didn't need them here. They would be useful upon his return to Central City.
Additionally, he discovered soil teeming with microbes, carefully categorized and labeled in an unfamiliar minority language.
Given their presence in the luggage of the heavily implanted individual, these items likely pertained to implant cultivation or analysis.
Regardless, he would take them all.
The trio had delayed him, but considering the value of their contributions, he chose to overlook their impoliteness.
After organizing and collecting everything, he returned to the beach.
