Chapter 903: The Interdimensional War
Chapter 903: The Interdimensional War
In the sprawling valley, a massive army marched slowly through the mountains, their numbers so vast they darkened the land. Thick, dark clouds hung like a heavy leaden curtain, swirling and brooding, as if bearing an immense weight that could unleash at any moment.
The Dark Sword of the Underworld, a formidable warrior, was once a prominent general under the Overlord. However, he was not based in the Overlord's Castle but stationed at an outpost in the outside world.
Not long ago, news of the Overlord's demise spread across the twelve dimensions. Chaos ensued, and hearts trembled with fear. Anyone with even a hint of power began declaring themselves kings, aspiring to become the next Overlord.
The Dark Sword's personal strength and attack power were not particularly impressive; he was just a 4-star warrior with 1800 attack points. But he possessed a secret technique to control dragons, adept at harnessing the might of the powerful Dragon clan for his purposes.
However, he didn't have grand ambitions of becoming a king. He was well aware that his forces were not strong enough, despite having a sizable army. In this world, military might alone wasn't enough to achieve greatness.
The key to success lay in the art of dueling.
No matter how many soldiers or people you had under your command, they could only help expand your territory and influence. To secure the throne, one needed the strength to defend it.
The previous Overlord had become the leader of the twelve dimensions for this very reason. He had defeated all challengers, using his dueling skills to subdue anyone who dared challenge his authority. Thus, he became the king.
And it was also because of this that the Overlord met his downfall. Rumors spread that a powerful warrior from another world, even more skilled than the Overlord, had defeated him. As a result, the Overlord's empire crumbled.
The Dark Sword believed his dueling skills were decent, but they were merely "decent." If he wanted to reach the pinnacle of the twelve dimensions and become the next Overlord, it wouldn't be enough. He knew that even against the Overlord's former Five Generals, he stood no chance. Since ascending to the top was impossible, he decided to find a powerful ally and serve under one of the Five Generals, becoming a prominent general himself.
Currently, he was leading his troops towards the Vampire City.
The Vampire City had been a thorn in the Overlord's side, even during his reign. Due to its distance from the Overlord's Castle, the Overlord had never personally led an expedition to conquer it. As a result, the vampires there had stubbornly resisted.
The Dark Sword had received orders to join forces with six armies summoned by the main commander from various places to capture the stubborn vampires. Recently, they had been locked in a stalemate with two other factions that had declared themselves kings. The Vampire Castle had become a crucial strategic point in the war.
The main commander had issued a decree: take the Vampire City at all costs, ensuring a significant advantage in the upcoming battles.
The Dark Sword was leading one of these six armies.
As they reached the center of the canyon, a commotion erupted from both sides. Startled, the Dark Sword mounted a black dragon and soared into the sky, only to witness a massive swarm of elf warriors pouring down the canyon, shrouded in thick smoke.
An ambush!
The Dark Sword was shocked. He drew his sword, shouted orders, and led his troops into battle. However, the origins of the armies on both sides were unknown, and they attacked with ferocity. The enemy's numbers were also difficult to ascertain. It was clear that they had come prepared and deliberately set up an ambush, taking full advantage of the terrain. The Dark Sword's army, unaware of the enemy's strength, was caught off guard. In the initial clash, they suffered numerous casualties.
The Dark Sword, riding his dragon, personally joined the fray, summoning monsters from his Duel Disk whenever possible. Simultaneously, he shouted orders for his troops to retreat.
But before long, another urgent report reached him: enemies had also infiltrated the rear of the canyon, blocking their escape route. Trapped in the center of the valley, surrounded by enemies on all sides, the Dark Sword's army was in a dire situation. If they continued fighting in this chaotic melee, his entire force might be annihilated.
The Dark Sword gnashed its teeth.
Damn it. They hadn't received any prior intelligence, and the opposing forces should not have deployed troops in this direction. Who was this unexpected commander blocking their path?
There was only one way out.
The Dark Sword, riding atop a dragon, soared into the sky, facing the enemy's overwhelming army. With his Duel Disk ready, he shouted loudly.
"Enemy commander, dare you fight me!"
Indeed, a figure soon flew out from the enemy formation. A human-shaped figure seemed to be levitating with the aid of some wind-based spell, their bright red scarf billowing like a cape around them.
It was a human.
Wearing glasses, he was clad in the armor of this world, but his scarf still stood out in the scene. Suspended in the wind, he adjusted his glasses and smiled at the elf who had shouted.
"Nice to meet you, my name is Amon Gallam."
The Dark Sword frowned.
He had never heard of this name, and it didn't seem like a local.
Was this the enemy commander?
However, when he saw Amon unfold his Duel Disk, there was no more doubt.
This was the custom when armies clashed in this world, which was why every army had to have at least one Duelist to lead them. Duelists were like the generals of the troops, and when two armies faced off, claiming to have a million soldiers each, it was normal for the million soldiers to stand by and watch as the two generals dueled under the night sky.
The outcome of a Duelist's battle must be decided by the cards, and no physical force could surpass the absolute constraints of the Duel rules—this was the law of the world.
The Dark Sword scoffed.
Although he wasn't confident about reaching the top, there were only a handful of people in the Overlord's army who could defeat him, and he knew each of them. This unknown opponent was just a random fish that had popped up; he would quickly take care of him and be done with it.
Three minutes later.
". Cloud Monster Typhoon Eye's attack!"
Amon gave the command for the final strike, and the entire army of elves behind him roared in unison, as if their morale had reached its peak under the leadership of the Duelist.
"Waaaaah!"
The Dark Sword screamed.
"How is this possible? How could I lose to a nobody like youuuuuuu!"
[Dark Sword, LP 0]
Not a single mistake, a one-hit KO!
With the general defeated, the Dark Sword's army crumbled like a house of cards. At Amon's command, the entire army charged forward, wiping out half of the enemy forces, while the remaining surrendered and laid down their arms.
On a nearby hilltop, a vampire noble lady, holding a parasol, watched this scene with a light smile. "It seems the human Master chose is indeed quite capable."
"Of course, Amon Gallam is a person born with the potential of a king."
Yuuugen spoke.
"I said that this is the best place for him to fulfill his ambitions."
"And Master has never even met this person, yet he managed to investigate so deeply just from background checks."
The noble lady feigned admiration, her eyes sparkling with a desire to shoot electricity at Yuuugen.
"I suppose so," Yuuugen said calmly.
To be honest, he didn't even need a basic background check; a man who had read the script was just that confident.
"So, you can rest easy now, right?" He looked at the noble lady.
She nodded.
What she cared about the most, of course, was her clan and the location of the Vampire City.
"Thank you, Master."
Yuuugen smiled. "I didn't do anything. Thank Amon. I merely showed him the way."
The noble lady stubbornly shook her head. "I want to thank Master."
Yuuugen shrugged. "Then do as you please."
Saying this, he turned to leave.
But just then, he paused and frowned slightly.
He suddenly felt like someone was watching him.
