Chapter 903: The Directors' Methods
Chapter 903: The Directors' Methods
There seemed to be something... a little off?
Amidst the astonished gazes of the Death Realm Overlords, the trapped directors in the Sage's Graveyard, with nowhere to escape, did not show despair. Instead, they launched a fierce counterattack.
"Protect me!"
Among the four directors, the weakest, the Pisces Director, took a sudden step forward. Her tongue, deep pink, split open at the tip, tearing into two four-mouthed pink snakes. The first snake's mouth opened wide.
"One!"
With the first snake's whispered count, the countless dead souls controlled by the Priest of Death froze momentarily. Then, as if their bones had been removed, they exuded a strong sense of lethargy.
"Stop her, quick!"
As a formal member of the Executioners' Syndicate, the Flesh-receiving Doe, who was well-informed about the Purge Bureau's trump cards, instantly recognized the object in the Pisces Director's mouth with a single glance, and her face paled in shock.
"Don't let her continue counting! If she reaches eight, the entire Death Realm will be dragged into a dream! We'll all fall asleep!"
That deer... even recognized the Dreamweaving Tongue?
Hearing the Flesh-receiving Doe's shout, the Taurus Director's face darkened slightly. He knew that this was probably the doing of the previous Aquarius Director.
That selfish old fool, in order to gain the trust of the Executioners' Syndicate, had likely sold out the Bureau's intelligence in the past, even revealing information about Abnormal Object 008...
But never mind, even if it's recognized, it doesn't matter!
The Taurus Director glanced at the surrounding Death Realm Overlords' attacks, then grabbed the old pouch in his hand and shook it vigorously, spilling out all the objects inside. They hovered around the four directors.
Meanwhile, the Archer Director, before the Taurus Director shook out the objects, extended her hand and lightly tapped each of the oddly-shaped items, enhancing them with Archer Secret Arts.
"Thud, thud, thud, thud!"
With the sound of arrows hitting their mark, golden arrow patterns flowed from the Archer Director's fingers, effortlessly reaching the abnormal objects held by the Taurus Director. The seven or eight strange items were then bathed in a brilliant golden light.
Immediately, amidst the astonished gazes of the dead souls, except for a strange little bell that remained by the directors' side, the other golden-glowing objects came to life.
The first to move was a silver flintlock, which coughed like an old man on his last legs, then bent and opened, spewing out silver fireworks at the approaching dead souls.
In the face of these strange silver fireworks, the cold blue flames that had already turned into a vast ocean in the lantern of the Old Man with the Lantern had almost no resistance. In an instant, they were drawn back, burning the souls of the dead and forcing the Old Man to retreat hastily.
Next to act was a bundle of coarse hemp rope adorned with scales. As the Taurus Director moved, the deep yellow rope unraveled like giant pythons, each slithering into the muddy Yellow Springs. Then, they traveled upstream, dragging the startled Yellow Earthworms of River Excavation out of the riverbed.
The next item to demonstrate its power was a shriveled apple seed thrown to the ground.
As the Taurus Director tossed it, the tiny seed quickly took root and sprouted, growing into a towering tree in an instant. It bore a strange fruit, plump and red, seemingly filled with flesh and blood.
The apple's flesh quickly rotted, revealing its deep green seeds within. As the apple tree branch snapped and collapsed, the apple fell, then once again took root in the soil, sprouting and repeating the cycle over and over.
At the same time, the Bone Palace controlled by the Incarnated Doe, like the apple seed, grew wildly with bones as its root system, sprouting vast textures of nerves and flesh, only to rot back into bones along with the apple.
The majestic bone structure instantly collapsed, revealing the uncontrollable splitting and rotting of the flesh within, and the Incarnated Doe, half of its body already exposed, bones protruding.
"Save me! Save me!"
"Don't move!"
The Faceless One waved their hand, shattering the collapsing Bone Palace, and pulled out the Incarnated Doe, who was screaming in agony. A golden mask was then stuck to their face, and they couldn't help but tear at the mask while staring through it at the distant Taurus Director. Deep shadows were reflected in their hollow eye sockets.
The Taurus Director, second in rank among the twelve directors of the Purge Bureau, was indeed formidable. While she didn't possess the terrifying 'Anomaly Annihilation' ability like the Aries Director, her expertise in forging and refining abnormal objects made her unmatched in the diversity and richness of her methods within the entire Purge Bureau.
The Taurus Director, with their abundance of abnormal objects, and the Sagittarius Director, skilled in strengthening specific anomalies, undoubtedly made the best and most suitable partners.
Together, just the two of them could easily suppress six Dead Realm Lords and instantly subdue the weaker ones among them. If the Faceless One had arrived any later, the Incarnated Doe, still recovering from her injuries, would likely have been killed by the bizarre apple.
The Faceless One tossed the Incarnated Doe, now exposed to the bone, out of the range of the flesh-and-blood apple's lock. They glanced at the subdued Dead Realm Lords and the Pisces Director, who had already taken the opportunity to count to 'five,' and then looked towards the Engraver at the other end of the Sage's Graveyard.
The Engraver, a tall figure, rose from the fallen stelae, forcefully banging the stonehammer and chisel in their hands together, creating an unbearably piercing noise. Then, they shouted silently in the direction of the Pisces Director.
As the Engraver's silent call resonated, the Taurus and Pisces Directors, whose souls were already unstable, couldn't help but reveal pain on their faces, their bodies swaying unsteadily.
Just as the situation turned dire, the small bell by the Taurus Director's side quickly moved closer, and the ringing bell sound blocked the Engraver's silent call. However, the sixth snake mouth on the tip of the Pisces Director's tongue eventually closed, slowly retracting into her mouth.
"Ugh... sorry..."
The Pisces Director bent over in pain, vomiting a small piece of chaotic soul shards, her face turning pale. She wiped the filth from the corner of her mouth and spoke with guilt:
"My situation must have been exposed... Someone was shouting the names of Mimi and the others, tearing apart the shared power channel between us. With just my own strength, I couldn't maintain the 'Dreamweaving Tongue' and call out a seventh time."
