Chapter 901: Spirit Talisman
Chapter 901: Spirit Talisman
Once he reached the depths of the void, Lu Chen gazed at the chaos before him, sheathed his flying sword, and unleashed the Lei Thunder Wings beneath his ribs, racing back to the Flawed Cavern like a bolt of lightning.
Concerned about the numerous spirit herbs nearing maturity in the Thunderfire Planet Cave, he didn't linger in the cavern for long. Following the route he had taken initially, he made his way back to the location of the Li Yang Realm.
The Flawed Cavern, nestled deep within the void, was extremely secluded. Coupled with the natural barrier of the mist, and the additional protection of Lu Chen's five Star Flags, its safety was assured.
"Finally back to my abode."
His journey was smooth, without any encounters with spatial storms or wayward starry sky demons. Those he came across were easily dealt with, their remains becoming fertilizer for his exotic spirit herbs.
As soon as he entered his dwelling, a chorus of whimpers filled his ears. Over a dozen Little Tree Nymphs emerged from all directions, fluttering around Lu Chen.
Soon after, Fat Bird arrived with the Thunder Dragon Lion and the Green Mountain Qilin. The Cloud-stepping Lynx, the Giant Salamander, and the Fire Dragon, among others, also appeared to greet him, expressing their longing during his absence.
"Calm down, calm down. I've brought back treats for all of you."
Lu Chen soothed them with a few words before heading inside, where he retrieved a pre-prepared Dark Silence Fish.
He had learned the proper way to handle the fish from Shi Zichen—discarding the innards and the outermost layer of meat, and using special means to obtain only the central portion of the fish flesh.
Despite taking only a small portion, it still amounted to hundreds of pounds due to the fish's enormous size.
Lu Chen had honed his culinary skills during his time in the Sky Sword Sect, even earning the favor of the sect's two protective spirit beasts. Despite his years in the Thunderfire Planet Cave, his culinary prowess had not diminished.
In less than half a mark, various dishes made from the Dark Silence Fish were served.
In the courtyard, the multitude of spirit beasts waited eagerly, lined up obediently.
"Fine food must be paired with fine brew."
Lu Chen brought out a large quantity of spirit brew and distributed it among the spirit beasts.
"Bon appetit!"
At his command, the hungry spirit beasts devoured the feast before them, leaving no trace of the hundreds of pounds of Dark Silence Fish in an instant.
"Fresh, tender, and smooth... with a subtle cool sensation flowing within after consumption. Indeed, a fourth-grade spirit fish," Lu Chen commented, his eyes narrowed in satisfaction, as he sipped a mouthful of Green Condensed Dew.
"You guys don't know how to savor the flavors. Each of you is like a cow chewing on a peony."
When he opened his eyes again, he saw the spirit beasts surrounding him, with the Thunder Dragon Lion, taking advantage of its speed, already sticking out its tongue.
Lu Chen flicked his wrist, sending a bolt of thunder the thickness of a thumb crashing into the Thunder Dragon Lion, sending it flying tens of feet away.
"Have some spirit fruits to aid digestion."
He scattered a pile of Ice-Fire Spirit Fruits and, in a flash, disappeared.
"So many mouths to feed, how can I keep up?"
Lu Chen sighed as he entered the spirit field.
The Grass Puppet, carrying two Arrow Vines, walked over on its slender grass rope legs from a short distance away.
"You can have something else."
Lu Chen tossed the Grass Puppet a Spirit Absorbing Grass Pearl as he inspected each and every spirit herb in the field.
After a period of neglect, the numerous spirit herbs, though thriving, had developed subtle needs.
His task was to fulfill the growth requirements of each and every spirit herb to the greatest extent possible.
It took him half a day to tend to every spirit herb in the field.
"It's almost time for another harvest."
In the spirit field, the fourth-grade Little Cave Sword Gourd and the fifth-grade Myriad Phenomena Grass were nearing complete maturity, along with several other varieties entering the maturation stage, filling Lu Chen with anticipation.
Lu Chen asked them to keep an eye out for spirit bamboo seedlings or spirit seeds. He also reminded Mu Daoren to urge the guild headquarters to expedite their collection of Starfruit spirit seeds.
Ever since the two batches of Starfruit that the Merchant Guild had requested Lu Chen to cultivate had successfully matured, the guild had taken the initiative to send him seeds, shifting the dynamic from Lu Chen initially requesting their help to the guild actively seeking his expertise.
With over a dozen high-quality Starfruits in his possession, Lu Chen now held the upper hand in their exchange.
Time flew by, and half a month passed in the blink of an eye after Lu Chen returned to his cave abode.
During this period, he remained in his dwelling, cultivating spirit herbs and tending to his menagerie of spirit beasts. His days were simple yet fulfilling.
In his spirit field, a Myriad Phenomena Grass had reached full maturity.
Lu Chen carefully pulled out the herb, confirming that the semi-transparent progress bar beneath it was completely filled.
The Myriad Phenomena Grass, nourished by various demon beast essences, exhibited an extremely bizarre form, with claws and fangs that seemed to be a fusion of multiple demon beasts.
When he first pulled out the mature herb, he even caught a glimpse of a fierce demon beast shadow flashing and disappearing into the grass.
[Myriad Phenomena Grass, Fifth-grade Spirit Herb: Nurtured by the essence of demon beasts, its form is intricately linked to the types of essences absorbed. The mature herb contains pure and rich demonic energy, exerting a strong allure on demons and demon beasts. Prolonged consumption can, to a certain extent, purify the bloodline of spirit beasts.]
"It can purify the bloodline of spirit beasts...perfect for feeding the menagerie of beasts in my cave abode."
"I wonder how effective it would be as bait."
The Cloud-stepping Lynx, Fat Bird, and Rock-armored Turtle, whom he had raised for many years, were struggling to break through their current levels due to the limitations of their bloodlines.
With the Myriad Phenomena Grass, their chances of breaking through would increase significantly if he consistently fed it to them.
"After all, they've accompanied me for so many years, and I can't bear to leave them behind."
"And I get to collect a few more light orbs as a reward."
As Lu Chen thought, his gaze fell on the white light orbs that had quietly appeared below.
He reached out and gently touched the surface of a light orb, and in an instant, it silently shattered, transforming into countless specks of light that coalesced into a slender river of light flowing into his body.
At the same time, a thought flashed through his mind.
[Harvested a Fifth-grade Myriad Phenomena Grass, obtained a Sixth-grade Spirit Talisman: Spirit Transformation Talisman.]
As the thought vanished, a talisman imbued with an extraordinary aura appeared before Lu Chen.
At the very center of the talisman was a faint blue light, within which a tiny shadow of a dragon writhed. A powerful spiritual pressure emanated from it, causing transparent ripples to form around the talisman.
Lu Chen focused his mind on the talisman, instantly grasping its details.
[Spirit Transformation Talisman, Sixth-grade Talisman: Infused with the spirit of a powerful demon beast, it can be used to instantly summon the beast's spirit to aid in battle or to possess a physical body, transforming it into a demi-demon form, greatly enhancing its physical strength.]
"The Sixth-grade Spirit Transformation Talisman can summon a decent demon beast spirit, but it's not particularly remarkable among my array of abilities."
"However, the effect of possessing a body and greatly enhancing its physical strength is quite intriguing."
"I wonder what would happen if I layered ten or even a hundred Spirit Transformation Talismans on top of each other..."
Lu Chen mused, his eyes falling on the remaining Myriad Phenomena Grass in his spirit field.
