Chapter 90: The Graveyard of the Forsaken
Chapter 90: The Graveyard of the Forsaken
A murderous intent flashed in Jiang Cheng's eyes.
These people had actually come to ambush him right at his doorstep? They were practically asking for death!
Even if he killed them here, the commotion would be too great. Despite his ability to move the bodies afterward, it would be difficult to ensure that the news wouldn't reach the Wild Wolf Gang's ears.
I'll take them somewhere else! Jiang Cheng's thoughts raced, and he rushed towards the group of people behind him.
Upon seeing this, the group was overjoyed, especially Qian Yun Kai. He had threatened Jiang Cheng earlier and was publicly beaten, leaving him seething with hatred. Hearing that the boss was about to take action, he had been excited all day.
Clang!
Clang!
The sound of the blade clashing with the iron rods echoed repeatedly.
Wu Tian's men, like Wei Bao's, fought without any technique, relying solely on brute force.
Jiang Cheng wielded his double sticks in front of him, maintaining an impenetrable defense. Seizing the opportunity, he burst through the encirclement of three or four people and dashed away.
"What kind of food do you eat to let someone escape like this!"
Those who rushed from behind were instantly infuriated.
The men who were blocked wanted to say something but didn't know how to explain.
In truth, they didn't know what had happened. In the blink of an eye, their opponent had already broken through.
"Why are you still standing there? Hurry up and chase him!"
One of them finished speaking and quickly gave chase.
If they let that kid escape into the Martial Arts Academy, their efforts tonight would be in vain.
"Chase him!"
"Chase!"
The rest followed suit, chasing after him like a pack of hounds.
Wu Tian stood in his original position, his face darkening.
He hadn't expected that with so many people, they couldn't even keep a single person from escaping.
"Sky Brother, what should we do? Should we follow them?" asked the remaining crew-cut man.
"Just let them chase him. If they can't catch him, don't bother coming back to see me," Wu Tian said coldly.
"Don't worry, Sky Brother. The brothers were just caught off guard earlier, allowing that kid to slip through. We'll definitely catch him soon," the crew-cut man assured him.
The crew-cut man smiled and then glanced at Jiang Cheng's house next to him. "Sky Brother, let's go inside and take a look. His grandmother is in there. If we can't handle it, we'll tie up his grandmother, and he'll have to come to us."
"Alright, let's go in and see."
Wu Tian nodded.
It's a perfect time to go in and wait.
At this moment, Jiang Cheng was sprinting ahead, with a group of people chasing after him, their shouts of pursuit rising and falling, terrifying the residents on both sides, who quickly blew out their candles, fearing they might be drawn into trouble.
"Stop! Don't run!"
"Stop!"
Shouts echoed from behind.
A cold smile appeared on Jiang Cheng's face.
And so, one person ran, and a group chased.
No one knew how long they had been running, but the places they passed through became increasingly desolate.
There were many houses on both sides of the alley, but they had no doors, and the interiors were pitch-black. Some didn't even have roofs, and there was not a sound of human activity. A strange odor lingered in the air.
Judging from the number of houses, this place had once been bustling, with many residents. However, later on, some died, and others moved away, gradually leaving the area deserted.
Now, people called this place the Graveyard of the Forsaken.
As long as the corpses were wrapped in their blankets and thrown here, it was done.
"Stop! Stop!"
Several of them were getting exhausted from running.
They had initially worried that Jiang Cheng would run into the streets, but instead, he was heading towards the Graveyard of the Forsaken.
This thrilled them, as they felt Jiang Cheng was panicking and losing his composure.
But as they continued the chase, they realized this kid was a real marathon runner!
They wanted to stop and give up the pursuit, but the thought of Sky Brother likely still waiting for news made them hesitate. If they returned without the target, they knew they'd face dire consequences due to Sky Brother's ruthless nature.
Suddenly, Jiang Cheng came to a stop.
The group, feeling as if they had been released from a burden, also halted, some leaning against the nearby walls, others supporting themselves with their arms on their thighs, panting heavily.
"Little, kid, you finally stopped running?"
The leader, feigning strength, said, "Be sensible and come back with us quietly. Your grandma is still at home, right? Guess what, how do you think she's doing now?"
As soon as he finished speaking, Jiang Cheng took a quick step forward and struck him on the head with his staff.
"Bang!"
A dull sound echoed.
The man's cold smile hadn't even faded when his eyes widened, and he fell to the ground, limp.
"!!!"
The remaining men were left speechless.
Firstly, they hadn't expected that after such a long chase, Jiang Cheng would still have the strength to fight.
Secondly, they never imagined that a sweet potato vendor would be so ruthless when it came to killing!
A series of impacts resounded.
These men were never Jiang Cheng's match to begin with.
Not to mention that they were already exhausted, at the end of their strength, and were knocked out in the blink of an eye.
"Don't, don't kill me."
In less than half a minute, only one man remained.
Qian Yun Kai knelt on the ground, pleading.
"You know, this whole thing didn't have to happen."
Jiang Cheng stared at him.
Qian Yun Kai was frozen in place.
Indeed, it seemed that way.
If he had just returned the membership card that day without any ulterior motives, he wouldn't have been beaten up by his boss later.
Now, he wouldn't be kneeling here, desperately begging for mercy.
"Brother Jiang, Uncle Jiang, I was wrong, I truly regret it."
Qian Yun Kai looked at Jiang Cheng, continuously bowing, "Please, give me another chance. As long as you don't kill me, I'm willing to be your slave and servant. Please, give me one more chance."
"Hmph."
Jiang Cheng struck him with his staff.
He wouldn't show mercy, leaving potential trouble behind.
He finished them off one by one, without searching their bodies, as he was in a hurry to return and deal with the remaining two.
If he wasted time searching their bodies, and the other two escaped, it would become troublesome.
After tossing the bodies into the rooms on both sides, Jiang Cheng hurried home.
...
Inside the house.
Wu Tian and the others lit the candles on the table but didn't find Jiang Cheng's grandma. Instead, they saw numerous boxes.
"Didn't he say he had a grandma?"
Wu Tian's gaze turned cold as he looked at the bald man.
It was supposed to be a sure thing, but the boy got away.
Now, the house was also empty.
This meant that if they couldn't catch the boy, tonight would be a near miss, and they would likely never get another chance.
"I, I don't know either, Sky Brother."
The bald man's face turned pale with fear, "The information we got from Brother Bao a few days ago mentioned that this kid had a grandma. Brother Bao, don't worry, I think that old man probably heard the commotion outside and hid."
"Then hurry up and find him!"
"Yes! Yes! Sky Brother!"
The bald man quickly began searching.
He opened the wardrobe first, then each box one by one.
But he found nothing.
He knelt on the ground, looking under the bed, but it was still empty.
Not even a ghost, let alone a person.
