Chapter 9: My Jounin Sensei!
Chapter 9: My Jounin Sensei!
Wearing a green jounin vest, with a head of dazzling golden short hair, and a warm, inviting smile.
These traits all pointed to one person.
Minato Namikaze!
The future Fourth Hokage.
Compared to him, other geniuses paled in comparison, even the main character of the Ninja Realm couldn't match.
Because this was a true ‘commoner’ ninja.
Without any clan background or bloodline, he rose to prominence solely through his natural talent and hard work (and good looks).
He was missing only the ‘main character aura’; otherwise, he would have been the perfect choice for a savior.
Perhaps it was his perfection that led to his untimely death by plot convenience.
Otherwise, if he had secured the Hokage position, there would have been no opportunity for other villages to challenge or for the true main character to emerge.
After all, he lacked the Otsutsuki bloodline, so he couldn't be the true main character.
Now, such a figure was standing before them, and he would be their jounin sensei. How could they not be surprised? It's no wonder that Douhei was momentarily stunned.
"I am Minato Namikaze, the jounin instructor for Team 3. You must be Douhei Uchiha and Koji Yamashina. I'm sorry for being late!" Minato apologized gently.
It's no wonder some people rise to become Hokage; just in terms of interpersonal skills, he outshone Danzo.
Note: A jounin instructor is the team leader, but it's also a position.
"Sensei Minato!" 2
Douhei and Koji quickly stood up and bowed.
As they bowed, they noticed the cold, emotionless face of a young boy standing by the door.
Kakashi!
They hadn't expected him to be part of Team 3.
This made Douhei feel a bit uneasy.
After all, teammates of the main character often end up as sacrifices.
If they were to become teammates, the danger was all too clear.
Moreover, with a top-tier jounin like Minato Namikaze as their instructor, the likelihood of encountering danger would be even higher.
Of course, there were both advantages and disadvantages.
While the risks increased, they would also receive the best guidance and protection.
Minato Namikaze, in terms of both character and strength, was the perfect choice for a jounin instructor.
"Let's go, I'll treat you to some barbecued meat!"
As he spoke, Minato subtly observed Douhei Uchiha.
His original students were supposed to be Kakashi and others, but the Hokage had summoned him and changed the team to the current one.
He had also learned that Douhei had defeated Kakashi in yesterday's exam.
'Summoning beast… huh?'
As a descendant of the Myoboku Sage lineage, he understood the benefits of having a powerful summoning beast.
Especially flying summoning beasts, which had incredible support capabilities.
The four of them soon arrived at 'Barbecue Q'.
This was a barbecue restaurant run by the Akimichi Clan.
Being a clan of ‘fat’ ninjas, they were naturally experts in food, making this the go-to place for barbecues.
Ninjas often celebrated with barbecues.
Why?
The reason was simple.
They usually ate poorly, so when they had the chance, they would indulge in good food to replenish their nutrition.
A ninja's chakra comes from their cells, so replenishing nutrients was essential.
In other words, the better the food, the more chakra they could extract.
Clans were stronger than commoner ninjas not just in knowledge and bloodlines but also in resources.
From a young age, clan members would undergo medicinal baths and eat better food, which commoners couldn't match.
This is why, despite the Second and Third Hokages' efforts to support commoner ninjas, the elite still mostly came from clans.
Inside the restaurant.
The four of them found an empty table and sat down.
The place was bustling with business.
Even though it wasn't yet mealtime, the restaurant was already more than half full. It would definitely be packed in the evening.
"Twenty plates of grilled meat!" Minato Namikaze ordered, then smiled warmly at the three young ninja. "From now on, we are Team Three!"
His warm smile and sincere tone were truly endearing, no wonder he had the nickname "Little Sun" among his peers.
Of course, his words carried another meaning.
Regardless of what happened between Tomo and Kakashi yesterday, they were now a cohesive unit.
"Yes, Sensei Minato!" Tomo nodded gently, showing his agreement.
He was well aware that the events of yesterday were orchestrated by Danzo, not Kakashi. At this stage, Kakashi was just a cold, emotionless machine focused on his missions.
"Yes, Sensei Minato!" echoed Hoji and Kakashi.
"Once we finish eating, we'll head to the training grounds. I want to assess your current progress!"
Minato was very pleased with their first meeting.
Soon, twenty plates of grilled meat were brought to the table.
Each plate contained about a pound of meat, making for a generous serving.
It might seem like a lot, but for ninja, it was no problem at all.
Ninja, after all, were professionals who wielded chakra, and consuming such a large amount of food was easily manageable.
Even the future princess of the village could likely eat several pounds of meat without breaking a sweat, and the Akimichi clan would start with at least ten pounds.
They usually ate less simply because they didn't have access to that much food.
"Itadakimasu!" the four of them said in unison and began to eat.
The rich aroma of the grilled meat made it impossible to stop eating, and they quickly devoured all twenty plates.
After the meal, Minato grimaced as he pulled out a large sum of money to pay the bill—over ten thousand ryo.
Fortunately, he hadn't said "eat as much as you want," or they would have had to stay and wash dishes to cover the cost.
Despite the high income of ninja, their expenses were even higher.
Food, purchasing ninja tools, training, medical care—these all required money.
Even the highest-level S-rank missions paid only a few million ryo, and that had to be split with the village. No wonder they only came to the barbecue place for special occasions.
If they came here regularly... what kind of family would that be?
The four of them slowly made their way to the training grounds.
"Alright, let's start with introductions."
"My name is Minato Namikaze, and I will be your instructor. I love ramen, and my dream is to become the Hokage. What about you?"
Minato looked at Kakashi, clearly indicating that he should go first.
Kakashi, with his cold demeanor and masked face, turned his head away from Minato's warm smile and said, "Kakashi Hatake, I like dogs, and my dream is to wash away the shame of the Hatake clan."
As he spoke, he clenched his fist—his father, so strong and kind, had died because of a failed mission...
'He still hasn't let it go.'
Minato noticed his student's reaction.
"My name is Hoji Yamato, I like powerful jutsu, and my dream is to revive the Yamato clan."
Hoji usually had a stoic expression, but his face showed a flicker of emotion when he mentioned the Yamato clan.
"Great dream!"
Minato smiled and nodded, then turned to Tohei Uchiha, curious about his aspirations.
In reality, he had an additional mission—observing Tohei.
This task was given by the Third Hokage.
And his assignment as Tohei's instructor was the result of a deal between the village and the Uchiha clan.
Neither the village nor the Uchiha clan wanted to see a talent with such research potential fall.
But he hadn't anticipated that Tohei's dream would be so...
