Chapter 899: Lu HaiKong's Arrival
Chapter 899: Lu HaiKong's Arrival
As Lu HaiKong embarked on his journey, he had no idea that his plans would be disrupted by an unexpected turn of events. He had underestimated the speed at which news could travel, especially when it involved someone as wealthy and influential as himself.
Initially, Li Ru had calculated that it would take at least a day or two for news to travel from Luoyang to Bingzhou, and Lu HaiKong, with his vast resources, had prepared accordingly. However, what Li Ru hadn't anticipated was the efficiency of Lu HaiKong's network. Within a day or two, Lu HaiKong would have the news, and in the worst-case scenario, it would take no more than three days.
Li Ru, realizing his miscalculation, decided to have Lu Bu rest for a day, and it was on the second night after San Gongzhu's appearance that he put his plan into action.
But Li Ru had made another mistake, one that he couldn't have foreseen. Even though Lu HaiKong's focus had always been elsewhere, and it was understandable that he might have overlooked this detail. No matter how attentive he was to Lu HaiKong's movements, it was inevitable that he would make a mistake at some point.
In a world of uncertainties, even Li Ru's 'foolproof plan' wasn't infallible. A miscalculation or two was expected, and the consequences of this particular error were something they might not have wanted to witness.
At the Marquis's camp...
Lu Bu, unaware that his opponent was already on his way, was engaged in a rather peculiar activity. According to his words, he was taking his dog for a walk, or rather, a pack of top-tier generals as his dogs.
When a group of generals from the Marquis's camp charged at him, Lu Bu swiftly retreated, but this wasn't a typical retreat. As the generals attacked with great force, Lu Bu revealed something—the Marquis's camp was in the direction they had come from.
Riding on Qing Chi, Lu Bu began to circle around the Marquis's camp, leading the pack of generals with him.
Lu Bu himself was a formidable force, and Qing Chi under his command was extraordinary. With a capability rating of over 70 a few years ago, Lu Bu's natural talent and daily internal energy cultivation had elevated Qing Chi's abilities to an astonishing level.
With Qing Chi's help, Lu Bu effortlessly herded the generals, keeping them at bay while giving Hua Xiong more time to wreak havoc and slaughter.
"Very well, from this moment on, no one is allowed to leave this place!" Lu Bu declared, his voice echoing across the camp. The Marquis's face paled, and a cold smile crept onto his lips.
Lu Bu's plan was straightforward—to pin down all the top-tier generals and give Hua Xiong more time to cause chaos and bloodshed. But was it possible?
Obviously, it wasn't.
Liu Bei's side quickly responded, leaving Guan Yu and Zhang Fei behind—one to protect Liu Bei and the other to capture Hua Xiong. As Guan Yu prepared to make his move, a shower of arrows flew towards them. Guan Yu and Zhang Fei's faces changed, and they swung their weapons to block the incoming arrows.
Working together, they managed to intercept the arrow aimed at Liu Bei just in time, but the close call left them shaken.
"I said, no one is allowed to leave this place!" Lu Bu said, slowly retracting his bow and arrow, a cold smile playing on his lips.
Title: The Battle's Fierce Turn
Chapter:
As the battle raged on, the situation took an unexpected turn. Lu Bu, with his formidable archery skills, had been keeping the lords and their armies at bay, but now a new threat emerged.
In the darkness, a figure in a black robe nodded towards a man named Meng Hu, one of the Nanman lords. Soon after, several small snakes appeared in the lords' camp, slithering towards Lu Bu under the cover of night.
Amidst the chaos, no one paid attention to the ground. Lu Bu, focused on the battlefield, was startled when the snakes leaped towards him, but it was only a brief moment of surprise.
With a swift sweep of his bow, Lu Bu sliced the snakes in two. But before he could rejoice, his mount, Qing Di, suddenly let out a mournful cry.
Lu Bu looked down and saw a black snake coiled around Qing Di's hind leg. In an instant, Qing Di's once vibrant blue feathers turned black, and the usually upright bird knelt down.
Lu Bu's heart ached as he saw this. With a swing of his Fangtian Huaji, he cleaved the snake into powder.
Just then, the lords noticed the change in Lu Bu. Simultaneously, a sharp voice rang out.
"Lu Bu's mount has been bitten by my snake. It will die within ten breaths, and without it, he won't be able to escape!"
Lu Bu's eyes flashed with cold determination.
"You're seeking death!"
As he spoke, the aura around him intensified, and the air seemed to darken. Lu Bu's eyes ignited with black flames, and his body was enveloped in the same dark flames.
In that moment, a terrifying power erupted from him. Lu Bu's strength skyrocketed, and he truly broke through his limits.
The black flames that engulfed him also surrounded Qing Di, and its once lively eyes now glowed with a bloodthirsty light. The bird, which had been on the verge of death, revived and seemed even stronger.
Lu Bu's heart ached as he glanced at Qing Di. With a swing of his halberd, he charged towards the lords' direction.
He knew he only had three minutes in this state, but three minutes should be enough. None of the lords would survive!
As Lu Bu prepared to strike, a purple light flashed, and an arrow flew towards his back. Simultaneously, Lu HaiKong's voice echoed.
"The battle's quite lively. Mind if I join in?"
