Chapter 898: Reaching the Rendezvous Point
Chapter 898: Reaching the Rendezvous Point
At exactly 10:00 AM on the 21st, Su Yu arrived near the designated rendezvous point without any issues. The journey had been relatively safe, and he hadn't encountered any dangers.
He did run into two Skrull squads along the way, but Su Yu simply used the Invisibility Spell to avoid them, preventing any conflicts.
The rendezvous point was a towering mountain peak, standing about 500 to 600 meters high. However, as he approached the mountain, Su Yu noticed something odd—there were no signs of any Blue Star humans on the peak.
Even when he maximized his mental energy, he couldn't detect anyone.
This was peculiar.
According to the plan, a total of 20 compatriots were supposed to gather here, including 19 Blue Star players and Cao Chengxiang, who was responsible for their protection.
Excluding the three who had died with the Laser Pen, at least 17 people were supposed to meet here.
Yet, with only two hours left until the final deadline, Su Yu saw no sign of any Blue Star players on the mountain.
Had everyone just not arrived yet, or were they hiding too well?
...
Just as Su Yu was pondering this, he heard rustling sounds from the bushes beneath his feet.
Su Yu was startled.
Then, a voice in perfect Mandarin called out from the bushes: "Heaven covers the earth, tiger."
Hearing this, Su Yu immediately relaxed, letting out a light sigh of relief.
This was the agreed-upon password among the Blue Star players to verify each other's identities.
It seemed the other players had arrived early and were just hiding too well.
Su Yu cast Blink and a white light flashed.
In the next second, he appeared beside the bushes, facing a bowman who had completely shielded his presence. It was none other than Range is Truth, also known as Old Li.
"Old Li, you're here already!" Su Yu waved to Old Li and asked, "Where are the others?"
However, Old Li didn't respond.
He drew his longbow, the gleaming arrowhead pointed warily at Su Yu. "Say the password!"
Su Yu: "..."
He hadn't expected Old Li to be so cautious.
But being cautious was a good thing, so he immediately complied. "Skrull 25."
Upon hearing the password, Old Li's expression eased, and he lowered his bow.
Although he knew it was most likely Su Yu, he couldn't afford to let his guard down.
The Skrulls were experts at disguise, and with so many players gathered, it would be disastrous if any Skrulls managed to infiltrate.
Putting away his bow, Old Li smiled and said, "Boss Ke, I just wanted to be cautious. The Skrulls know your appearance, and if they know the rendezvous point, they might try to impersonate you. We can't be too careful."
"Understood, understood." Su Yu waved dismissively.
Then he looked around and asked, "Where are the others? Has everyone arrived?"
"Most of them have." Old Li nodded and gestured for Su Yu to follow him.
He continued, "Besides the three who died with the Laser Pen, 14 out of the remaining 17 have arrived. With you, that makes 15. Cao Chengxiang helped us conceal our presence, which is why you didn't detect us."
Mentioning the "Laser Pen," Old Li's expression darkened.
Although everyone had prepared for the possibility of death before coming to Skrull, seeing their compatriots fall was still deeply painful.
Su Yu walked side by side with Old Li, fully understanding his companion's current state of mind. To be honest, Su Yu himself was in a foul mood.
He patted Old Li's shoulder and sighed, "Sigh, I never expected the Skrull to be so ruthless! But during my journey here, I managed to take out a few Skrull mercenaries, hoping it would bring some comfort to Laser Pen's spirit..."
In a few words, Su Yu recounted his actions over the past two days to Old Li.
Old Li was quite surprised upon hearing this.
He hadn't expected Su Yu to have a similar insight as Chancellor Cao, employing the same "fishing" strategy and achieving even better results.
Old Li exclaimed, "Su Yu, I didn't know you went fishing too, and you did a great job!"
Su Yu noticed the "too" in Old Li's words and was taken aback, "What, there are others fishing besides me?"
"Of course," Old Li replied, "Zhong Feng said he wanted to fish from the start, but the 'fish' were too strong for him to handle. To avoid a disaster, he didn't succeed in his attempt."
"Ah, I see," Su Yu nodded.
The Skrull squads Su Yu encountered were generally around the Sixth Rank, usually consisting of two to three members.
Zhong Feng had just ascended to the Seventh Rank, so dealing with these squads was indeed a bit too much for him.
Fortunately, he didn't force it and lost out on the bigger picture.
"Besides Zhong Feng, there's Chancellor Cao," Old Li continued, "Chancellor Cao has been fishing in the Wild Continent for the past two days. However, when he pretended to be an ancient cultivator, the 'fish' wouldn't even look at him. When he acted like a regular player, he was easily exposed, so he only caught four..."
Old Li paused here.
They had already entered a cave at the foot of the mountain, where the players and Chancellor Cao were waiting.
Upon entering the cave, Old Li immediately shouted, "Comrades, Chief Ke has arrived! And he's caught a total of six 'fish'!"
A slight commotion rippled through the cave.
Soon, several figures rushed to the cave entrance, all of them players from Earth. Su Yu spotted Zhong Feng and Chancellor Cao among the crowd.
"Su Yu, you finally made it! I was worried something might have happened to you," a petite, light green figure immediately leaped into Su Yu's arms, wrapping her arms around his neck like a koala.
This, of course, was Xia Tian.
With only two hours left until the deadline, Xia Tian had been anxious about whether Su Yu had encountered any trouble on the way.
Su Yu smiled and patted Xia Tian's back, "Don't worry, I've been fishing in the Wild Continent for the past two days, which is why I'm a bit late. I caught six, hoping it would bring some comfort to Laser Pen's spirit."
Xia Tian released her grip on Su Yu's neck, stepped back to the ground, and sighed, "Laser Pen, what a loss."
Hearing this name, the other players present also looked somber.
The Skrull were clearly becoming more ruthless, and the deaths of fellow players would only increase. They needed to be mentally prepared.
Chancellor Cao, standing at the back of the crowd, also sighed.
He looked at Su Yu and pondered, "Su Yu, we've lost three people this time. Perhaps we should change our strategy?
Since the Skrull are pursuing us so intensely, maybe we shouldn't send Sixth Rank players to the Wild Continent next time. That way, we can effectively avoid further losses."
