Chapter 898: Pansha Family Has Only One Master
Chapter 898: Pansha Family Has Only One Master
Wilbur was certain David wasn’t faking it—otherwise, he wouldn’t have used the direct line. The call itself wouldn’t have been so serious, nor would it have summoned Kas directly.
The weakness in David’s voice was genuine. His words came in broken gasps.
“Hurry! Come save me—everyone! Kas, Wilbur, you both must come! Give it your all! I can’t hold on much longer!”
That was David’s exact plea. Wilbur didn’t doubt its authenticity.
They hadn’t coordinated beforehand, so Wilbur immediately contacted Kas. Together, they piloted their Warship toward the direction indicated by David’s life paper.
Of course, Wilbur reported to Kuro en route.
After all, the incident occurred along their assigned Navigational Route. Failing to uphold their duty to Kuro Master was unacceptable.
“Be cautious. If things turn dire, buy time until I arrive.”
That was Kuro’s final instruction.
At present, Kuro was still in the East Blue. Even if he flew at full speed to the New World, the journey would take an agonizingly long time.
“Alas, our failure!” Wilbur sighed, staring at the silent Transponder Snail.
“Indeed, our failure!” Kas approached, his expression grim. “We shouldn’t have listened to David. By doing so, we’ve betrayed Kuro Master’s trust. While our mission was vital, we are Navy—Kuro Master’s subordinates. Failing such a fundamental task is deeply shameful!”
“You’re right,” Wilbur nodded. “We’ve disgraced Kuro Master and forsaken Justice itself.”
He regretted agreeing to David’s request to delay Kas. Though Kuro Master’s Justice mission was paramount, their primary duty was to fulfill Kuro’s direct orders.
Kuro had tasked them with safeguarding the Navigational Route’s safety. This meant protecting every island within it—regardless of its inhabitants—unless they were pirates.
This was their clearest directive. If they couldn’t uphold this basic responsibility, what right did they have to speak of Justice or faith?
Wilbur felt remorse for prioritizing his personal judgment over duty. He glanced at Kas.
As expected, he still lagged far behind Kas, who had stood by Kuro Master since the beginning.
Kas never wavered. His purpose was always crystal clear.
There was much to learn—much to refine in understanding Kuro Master’s Justice!
“We should be near!”
Kas fixated on the approaching island, activating his Transponder Snail. He instructed the Navy soldiers aboard the Warship: “Prepare yourselves! We don’t know the pirates’ numbers—proceed with caution!”
They spotted two ships lingering near the island—vessels from the Dressrosa Kingdom!
The four Warships closed in swiftly. Navy troops descended via ropes or sprinted down gangways, landing en masse on the shallow shores.
This was a standard small island, barren save for the beach and a stretch of land ahead. Though not vast, its far end remained just out of sight.
As the Navy advanced onto the island, Kas caught sight of shadowy figures gathering in the distance.
The life paper’s movement pointed there too.
“Ready yourselves! They’re right ahead!”
Kas barked the order, leading the charge forward.
At the island’s center stood a tall earthen slope. On it sat a rudimentary wooden chair—the only one on the island. A youth in his thirties lounged there, propped on one hand, watching the scene unfold with keen interest.
In his other hand, he held several chains—phantasmal, not physical—stretching forward. These spectral chains pierced David’s heart, who stood armored in Wolf Knight gear, surrounded by nobles and soldiers.
“Hmph, your reinforcements have arrived,” the youth chuckled, tightening the chains. “But they’ll only become my reinforcements—my strength. David, submit to me. Embrace my ideals. You’re a King, the pinnacle of nobility. I don’t understand why you hesitate.”
“You’ll… never… succeed!”
A heavy voice rumbled from within the armor. Kneeling, David trembled, his breath ragged—clearly nearing his limit.
“Hmph, hmpth,” the youth laughed again, descending the slope slowly. “You’ve held out for two days, David. Why persist? I admire Dressrosa’s development model, but alas, you slaughtered nobility. We are the ones who uphold this world’s rules. No matter—once I conquer you, you’ll be my King of Kings, spreading my dominion across the globe.”
He turned to the crowd. “Don’t you agree?”
The elaborately dressed nobles, all ‘captured’ by him, nodded fervently. “Indeed! Kalmiofficer, you are our true King!”
The Dressrosa soldiers, though visibly pained by David’s plight, added:
“I’d gladly become nobility myself! King David—no, David—if you grant me territory…”
“Don’t speak of that! We have a new King now—Kalami will give us everything we desire!”
“Long live Kalami, the King!”
“Long live Kalami, the King!” the soldiers chanted.
“You see?” Kalami approached David, gazing down as he yanked the chains. “So, will you surrender?”
The spectral chains dimmed, forcing David to grunt in pain, his head instinctively bowing.
Kalami’s lips curled into a smirk.
He wouldn’t last much longer. Soon, he’d break completely.
As for strength, David dwarfed him—perhaps even the soldiers could end him. But his ability was his ace.
They’d been careless, ensnared by his ability the moment they met, slowly absorbed into his will.
With David as his enforcer, he’d carve a place for himself in the New World.
“Never!!”
Suddenly, David roared, straightening his posture slightly.
“I’ll never acknowledge this rotten world of nobility! I’ve already discovered the true Justice, the true mission! The Pansha Family has only one master! That master isn’t you!!”
“What astonishing willpower—only makes me want to conquer you more!” Kalami laughed, eyeing the emerging Navy figures on the island. “You claim you won’t submit, yet wasn’t it your own desire that prompted that call? After my ability pulled you in, you still gave support? I should thank you—your Navy will make loyal additions to my ranks.”
