Chapter 898: Harry's Realization
Chapter 898: Harry's Realization
The news of Luna winning the Wizarding Card Club championship and getting to dance with Albert at the ball spread like wildfire through the school, overshadowing the news about the Club activity room.
Luna, being indifferent to others' opinions, didn't mind, but Hermione, who had lost to Luna, was annoyed as she had come so close to winning.
"Yes, it's a pity, just a little bit short, and it's ten galleons." Ron also regretted that Hermione had missed the chance to become the Wizarding Card Champion.
However, the two of them regretted different things.
"Harry, have you decided who you're going to take to the ball?" Hermione, ignoring Ron, turned to Harry and asked.
"Not yet." Harry's face turned red as he spoke about it.
"It seems that you already have someone in mind. I suggest you act quickly, or the girl you want to invite might be taken by someone else." Hermione sighed softly, realizing that Ginny probably didn't stand a chance.
After Ron used his knight to checkmate Harry's king, he looked up and said, "Harry, Hermione is right. We should also take action."
"Who do you plan to invite?" Harry asked curiously.
"I don't know. I hope to find a beautiful dance partner. Do you have someone in mind?"
Ron was just as clueless as Harry. He wanted to invite Cho, but he didn't have the courage.
"A beautiful dance partner?" Hermione asked sharply. "Do you mean the Beauxbatons champion? That's a good idea if she agrees."
Ron's face turned red, feeling that his secret was exposed. "I'd rather go alone than dance with an ugly girl."
"Ugly girl?" Hermione was furious at Ron's words, and she began to stutter in anger.
Harry suddenly felt the atmosphere around them turning awkward. Just as he was about to say something, Hermione sharply asked, "So, you only care about a girl's appearance?"
"Basically correct." Ron shrugged, "Don't look at me like that, Hermione. You girls like pretty boys like Diggory, don't you? There's nothing wrong with boys liking beautiful girls. It's fair, isn't it? Besides, aren't you hoping to be Albert's dance partner yourself? I dare say that ninety percent of the girls in Hogwarts want the same thing. But he already knew about it and found himself a partner a long time ago."
"Oh, do you know who his partner is?" Harry asked, trying to divert the topic from Hermione, who was trembling with anger.
"I heard from Fred that Albert plans to invite his girlfriend back to be his dance partner." Ron glanced at Hermione and said, "They have a very good relationship, so other girls don't stand a chance."
"I know that already. You don't have to remind me." Hermione got up and left in a huff.
"I really don't understand why she's so angry. Girls like pretty boys, so why can't we like beautiful girls?" Ron complained as he watched Hermione walk away, "Everyone has their own choices. It's fair, isn't it?"
"You're right, it's fair. It's just a shame that you're not handsome enough, or you would have found the beautiful girl you're looking for." Fred and George happened to walk by and overheard Ron's words. They patted him on the shoulder and said with a smile, "After all, even someone like Percy has a girlfriend."
"Harry, you haven't found a dance partner yet, have you?" George asked in surprise.
"No." Harry replied dryly. He was getting tired of people bringing up the ball all the time.
"Then you'd better hurry up, or all the good girls will be taken." Fred reminded him.
"From the way you two are talking, it sounds like you've already found partners." Ron raised an eyebrow and asked, "You don't mind telling us who you're going to the ball with, do you?"
"Angelina," Fred answered without hesitation.
"You've already invited her?" Ron asked in surprise.
"Yes, I've invited Alicia." George added, "So, if you two don't hurry up, you'll be left without partners. And Harry, since you're leading the dance, you should go and ask the person you want to invite. Don't be shy."
"Yes, don't be shy, Harry. Albert already had the guts to pursue the smartest and most beautiful girl in Hogwarts back in our second year." Fred patted Harry on the shoulder and smiled, "If you want to find a beautiful girlfriend and be a winner in life, you've got to be thick-skinned like Albert."
"The most beautiful girl?" Ron was shocked, but what surprised him even more was that Albert had found a girlfriend in their second year.
"Wow, he was just a kid back then."
"Of course she was the most beautiful. At that time, many people were pursuing McDougall, including Percy." Fred shared some surprising news with them.
"Percy also pursued Albert's girlfriend?" Ron's eyes widened in surprise.
"Yes, they were in the same year." Fred didn't hide his schadenfreude, "But Percy ended up a pathetic loser, and he was supposedly rejected outright."
"Later, when the news spread that Albert and McDougall were dating, Percy was heartbroken for a long time." George had no qualms about using Percy's heartbreak as a topic of casual conversation. He shrugged and added, "I bet that with your current attitude towards finding a dance partner, you won't find anyone, Ron. Take my advice and grow up a bit, or no girl will like you."
"Don't call me that." Ron said angrily.
Fred and George teased their unfortunate brother for a while before turning back to their dormitory.
Their words did give Harry a wake-up call. Even if Ron didn't have a dance partner, it wasn't a problem. But he needed to be one of the first to start dancing with a partner! So, he had to find someone, or he would surely embarrass himself and become a laughing stock among the Hogwarts students.
A dance partner?
Harry's mind conjured up the image of Ravenclaw's Seeker, Cho Chang.
He knew he had to act fast. If he didn't, Cho would surely be invited by someone else.
In the following days, Harry's mind was occupied with thoughts of how to invite Cho, as he always saw her surrounded by four or five girls, making it difficult for him to approach her.
Even Ron and Hermione noticed Harry's unusual behavior.
"Harry must have someone in mind." Ron said with certainty.
"I just hope Harry can be brave." Hermione said, watching Harry's retreating back.
"Do you know who it is?" Ron asked.
"No, but I know Harry must have a crush on someone." Hermione glanced at Ron and asked, "Since Harry has already started to take action, when will you gather the courage to invite Miss Cho?"
"That's none of your business." Ron said irritably, "You should worry about yourself first."
"I already have a dance partner." Hermione glanced at Ron and walked away.
"She's definitely lying." Ron said expressionlessly, watching her leave.
"I thought Hermione would go with you two." Neville said glumly, "Now it looks like we might be the only ones without partners."
