Chapter 897: Co-Habitation
Chapter 897: Co-Habitation
With Ivan's deliberate cooperation, the dinner atmosphere was very harmonious, and everyone chatted happily.
It wasn't until they were about to leave that Will Granger hesitantly spoke up. "By the way, Hals, Hermione told me yesterday that a dangerous prisoner named Grindelwald escaped from Nurmengard Prison. He might affect our lives, which is why you suggested Hermione and we move, right?"
"Describing Grindelwald as just a prisoner isn't quite accurate. You can think of him as a… terrorist, no, perhaps it would be easier for you to understand if I compare him to the German Führer from World War II!" Ivan corrected Will Granger's statement to convey the urgency of the situation.
"Is he really that powerful?" Mrs. Granger was very surprised. As a Muggle from London, she didn't know much about Grindelwald, but she clearly understood the significance of the German Führer. Comparing the two seemed a bit exaggerated.
"Grindelwald has always wanted to incite a war between Wizards and ordinary people. If he succeeds, the entire world could fall into chaos…" Ivan explained. "And do I think he can do it? I believe it's possible…"
"A powerful Wizard can destroy an entire city in a very short time!"
"More importantly, some Dark Wizards possess a spell called the Imperius Curse, which can turn people into mindless puppets that only follow orders. Imagine if Grindelwald uses the Imperius Curse to control government officials and starts a war. The destruction would be immense…"
Listening to Ivan's words, the Granger family exchanged glances, their eyes filled with worry.
Earlier, when they heard Hermione talk about this, they hadn't taken it too seriously. They didn't think much of Grindelwald, seeing him as just a dangerous fugitive.
They had even considered asking the local police for help to apprehend Grindelwald, to reassure their daughter and ease her fears.
Now, after hearing Ivan's explanation, they realized just how terrifying Grindelwald truly was.
"Forgive my intrusion, but do you have a personal vendetta against Grindelwald, Hals?" Will Granger hesitated for a moment before finally asking.
Since Grindelwald wasn't a British Wizard and had such grand ambitions, it didn't make sense for him to target them specifically. Will Granger didn't think his daughter could have any connection to such a figure, so the issue must lie with the extraordinary Wizard before them.
"It's not really a vendetta, but I am one of the few Wizards who pose a threat to him. Grindelwald might target you to get to me, since Hermione is my best… friend, and you are her closest family!" Ivan looked at the Grangers with a sincere apology in his eyes.
He understood their concerns. If he were in their shoes and felt his life was threatened by association, he would be angry too.
"No, this isn't just about you, Ivan… Even without you, when Grindelwald starts causing havoc in the Wizarding World, I will stand against him!" Hermione said with determination, then turned to her parents and added, "You will support me, right?"
"Of course! We're willing to support you in doing what's right!" Will Granger nodded without hesitation.
Mrs. Granger also smiled and said encouragingly, "I believe you'll defeat Grindelwald eventually..."
Seeing their reactions, Ivan finally understood where young witches got their excessive sense of justice from... But it made things much easier. If Will Granger had harbored any resentment, Ivan wouldn't have known how to handle it.
"Master, Mrs., you don't need to worry too much. I only asked Hermione to invite you here as a precaution. Grindelwald might not even target us", Ivan reassured them. "And as long as you stay in this house, I can guarantee your safety even if Grindelwald tries something."
Will Granger looked at Ivan, still harboring some doubts. After all, Grindelwald was incredibly powerful. How could Ivan protect them?
"In magic, aura talent often matters more than experience and effort..." Ivan shrugged, answering calmly. To put Will and the others at ease, he clapped his hands, and a heavy rumbling sound echoed from all around.
Will Granger looked around. The armor that had seemed like mere decorations in the corners of the dining room began to come to life, one by one. They marched forward, drew their weapons from their belts, and lined up in perfect formation, like soldiers on parade.
"These are some protective mechanisms. Additionally, the Ministry of Magic will be sending Aurors to patrol the area... You can rest assured here", Ivan explained.
Will Granger felt completely at ease.
After enjoying a hearty dinner, Ivan took Hermione and the others on a tour of the large estate to familiarize them with the surroundings.
It was the Grangers' first time visiting a wizard's home, and they were incredibly curious.
Before coming, they had imagined what a wizard's home might look like—perhaps an ancient castle shrouded in mist, with no sunlight, and filled with peculiar, moving portraits.
Will Granger had even prepared himself for the possibility of a Boggart floating out from under his bed at night, as Hermione had mentioned that wizards' homes might have such terrifying creatures.
However, this mansion was entirely different from what he had imagined. Apart from the moving statues and the small House-Elves, it was almost indistinguishable from a Muggle home. It even had a refrigerator, a television, and fans, making it look anything but wizardly.
"These are your rooms! Hermione, yours is next door..." Ivan led them to the fifth floor and pointed to two adjacent rooms. "If anything happens at night, just call Dobby or Winky, and they'll appear right away."
"Thank you, Hals. You should get some rest too", Will Granger said.
Hermione gave Ivan a quick hug as a goodbye, then hurried off to unpack her luggage...
