Chapter 893: Logia? That Bounty Just Went Through the Roof
Chapter 893: Logia? That Bounty Just Went Through the Roof
William’s mind raced in that instant.
Secretly seizing control of the Kingdom had technically failed—he didn’t think that alone would draw the attention of the Golden Lion.
His past deeds? He’d always been careful, ensuring his actions left no trace. Even if discovered, those were East Blue wanted incidents—nothing major.
Though he hated having a bounty in East Blue, he’d always taken precautions. But if one did appear, he had contingency plans.
Sometimes a bounty wasn’t a bad thing. Without notoriety, he lacked fame. Pirates kept attacking his trade convoys, forcing him to constantly dispatch crews to deal with them—even step in personally.
But with a bounty, he could use his infamy to intimidate pirates and even the Navy. A feared pirate’s reputation could make the Navy hesitate to act.
That’s why he’d created the ability-manipulating cigars—to curry favor with Navy elites while preparing military forces to deter them should a bounty arise.
His style wasn’t that of a destructive, plundering pirate. To the Navy, he was the kind they’d "temporarily ignore", especially with so many worse pirates in the Grand Line.
Even if a bounty came, East Blue’s Navy would prioritize others. Given time, he could solidify his base here and advance to the Grand Line.
He couldn’t fathom why the Golden Lion specifically targeted him.
If this were a chance encounter, William would accept it. But the portrait in the Golden Lion’s hand proved this was no accident—he’d been hunted.
Why would a pirate without a bounty draw the attention of the Golden Lion, already a Vice Admiral-level threat in the New World?
But regardless—this was an opportunity!
“Attack!” William barked.
Suddenly, Sverre materialized to Kuro’s side, dagger flashing mid-dive.
“Oh? No sound?” Kuro glanced sideways.
Whoosh!
A gust of wind tore through from another direction as Klah appeared, his left elbow slamming into the dagger with a metallic clang.
“Silent Step technique again,” Klah smirked upward at Sverre.
Bang! Bang!
Elmira’s twin revolvers roared, bullets streaking forward.
In a flash, the projectiles were intercepted mid-air by an arrow spinning through the sky. The arrowhead dipped, striking the second bullet as it arced downward, neutralizing both. Ju Geng nocked another arrow, aiming at Elmira.
“Watch this!”
Montblanc vaulted into the air, his leg a battle-axe cleaving downward. “Diamond Crush!!”
Crash!
Before his body fully descended, an afterimage shot toward him. Lida hadn’t transformed, blocking Montblanc’s foot with one hand, her lips curving into a smile.
Montblanc recoiled, disbelief flashing in his eyes. His strength was unparalleled—how could this brat block it so effortlessly?
Lida’s grin widened. Her body suddenly slid through the air, her palm rocketing toward Montblanc’s abdomen.
“Flash Step!”
Montblanc pivoted mid-air, retreating with a backward leap. Planting his other foot forward, he surged back, fists cocked for a crushing blow.
“Moonstep?” Kuro’s brow furrowed. “Seriously, stop renaming Moonstep just because you learned it.”
He believed this maneuver had neutralized the brat’s strength—his fist would merely graze the abdomen, allowing him to unleash a devastating counter.
“Little brat, sorry—enemies come in pairs!” Montblanc roared, his fist nearing Lida’s torso.
“Idiot.”
Lida’s hand pressed against Montblanc’s abdomen, fingers curling into his Hakidefense.
“Energy Drain!”
Montblanc’s mouth gaped, his eyes dimming. His muscular frame, once bulging, now seemed skeletal in illusion—still defined, yet hollow.
He fell like a ragdoll, drifting down as if floating onto the ground.
“Strength… my strength’s gone!” Montblanc rasped, trembling.
Lida danced through the air with Moonstep, smirking down at him.
Kuro allowed himself a smile. Against unarmed specialists? Few could beat Lida now.
As her Haki grew stronger, anyone inferior couldn’t resist her ability to drain essence spirits.
Like Law’s power—Haki could defend against his slicing, but if Law’s Haki overpowered his target’s, even slightly, combined with his ability’s force, he could cleave through flesh effortlessly.
Montblanc’s Haki? No match for Lida’s.
Did he really think he’d trained beside her for nothing?
In hand-to-hand combat, Lida stood at the world’s peak. Her ability? A natural predator to unarmed fighters.
“Montblanc!” William bellowed, glancing upward at Lida. “Damn it—Devil Fruit user!”
His fist slammed the ground, releasing a scalding steam jet from beneath Lida.
But Kuro’s blade sliced through the air, scattering the steam in a howling gust.
“These floaty vapor tricks—what’s the point?” Kuro scoffed, nodding at the crater left by the steam eruption. “Still, better than Smoker’s tricks.”
Steam, clouds, smoke—without the user’s direct ability input, such phenomena lacked mass. For Kuro, who wielded the Float-Float Fruit and lived by the wind, such attacks barely scratched him.
But Logias were still Logias.
With Haki mastery, it was hard to kill him.
Still, Kuro didn’t need to kill him—just raise his bounty.
Logia! That bounty’s skyrocketing!
Kuro tightened his grip on Autumn Water, eyes gleaming with menace.
Golden Lion—you’ll learn true danger in the New World!
